This year was my first time to work Abby Muthu for assistance with completing and filing my 2019 taxes. I found her through a google search and my decision to hire her was a great one! Abby was completely professional, thorough, and very proactive. My first communication with her was at the beginning of March and by the end of the month my taxes were completed and filed. Abby also had the forethought to file extensions for her clients due to COVID-19 before the filing deadlines were officially extended.
Abby is not just a great accountant but an empathetic one who keeps the big picture in mind and is a consummate communicator. She deftly handled not just our personal taxes but the challenging mix of an estate being settled, a small biz that is on hiatus, and a stock options scenario. I strongly recommend utilizing her not just during tax season but for advice ahead of time to make tax season less stressful. THANK YOU ABBY!!!
Abby is a life saver. Truly. I?m a small business owner whose former CPA royally messed up my business taxes, payments, etc. as well as my personal taxes. By some miracle, I found and hired Abby to help me get everything straightened out and back on track. And I am SO glad that I did. Abby got right to work on assessing what was wrong, determined the best course of action to set everything right, fixed a year+ worth of bookkeeping, did all the heavy lifting with the IRS, and kept me completely informed all
Abby was truly amazing to work with! We are so glad we found her. Communication is so important to us and she exceeded our expectations tremendously. We look forward to using her for all future taxes! She made the process so easy! If you are on the hunt for an amazing accountant, she is your girl! Thanks again Abby!
Abby Muthu provided excellent, professional tax services for my previous years taxes which were incorrectly filed by a different CPA. My taxes were resolved in a timely manner with me having to owe nothing to the IRS. I am truly grateful for her expertise and knowledge (and saving me a significant amount of money). I would recommend Abby in a heartbeat for all of your tax/ CPA needs.
Abby prepared 2017 tax returns for my family members and mine. I am very pleased with her dedication, commitment to perfection and professionalism. All tax returns were done on time as promised. She put in as much time required to assure correctness of each tax return. I will have her prepare our tax returns next year too.
Abby was super nice every step of the way when doing my tax return. She was also upfront with regards to what she was doing and updated me frequently. I will definitely ask for her help again!
Abby has been very efficient in managing the books of our GYMGUYZ start-up. She is a fast learner, pro-active and always ready to go the extra mile. A great business partner who focuses on supporting the business instead of maximizing chargeable hours. Reasonable rates, great service!
She?s GREAT! The first year I used Abby, I just asked her to look over the taxes I?d already done using an online program. She spotted a mistake where E*TRADE had improperly reported my cost basis and she saved me about $10,000. I?ve been using her every year since, and have been very pleased with her service.
I just hired Abby to do my S Corp and personal taxes this year and have been extremely pleased with her professionalism and knowledge. Very reasonable on a rates but even better she makes every effort to save me money on taxes! Very satisfied!
Abby has been great to work with the past 2 years. She is quick to respond, answers my questions and completes her work promptly. We do most of our communication through email, phone and online which really helps me out as I am a one person business. Thanks Abby!
Abby assisted my husband and I this year with our taxes with only a few days until the deadline. She did an amazing job and was so easy to work with. Thank you Abby!
Abby has been doing my taxes for years. She is very professional and had them done in no time. I recommend Abby Muthu CPA to any and everyone.
Needed help with filing my taxes since I recently started investing in the stock market. She is amazing!! Very helpful and informative..she explains everything along the way. Taxes filed within a week! Always in constant contact, highly recommend her.
Highly recommend Abby Muthu for any tax related needs! She's knowledgable, professional and easy to talk to which makes the process feel casual and stress free! Thank you so much!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
