Jake Hanes is the best CPA in WA. He specializes in helping business owners and gives incredible advice. He is kind, thorough and provides a wealth of expertise. I've worked with him for several years now. I cannot recommend Action Tax enough especially if you are a business owner.
We cannot recommend Jake Hanes and Action Tax Services highly enough! We first met Jake during an informational session at our Keller Williams Realty office, and we're so grateful we did. Jake is incredibly knowledgeable about tax strategies and helped us navigate the complexities of selecting the right company filing status. His expertise saved us a significant amount of money. Jake's professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for his clients make him stand out. If you're looking for a CPA who
If there is a negative star I will use it. I talked to Jake Hanes, who is not only condescending but also unprofessional. I have an appointment on a certain time but he said that I was the one who supposed to call. This is a total lie because I had appointments with them before and they are the ones who always call me. Also, Jake did not even have any preparation on what is the call about. My appointment was a follow up from a previous question and I should not be repeating myself. Lastly, I asked for a spe
My husband and I would be lost without Action Tax Service. Corrie and Jake are absolutely superb. We messed our taxes up last year, and they helped get us back on track. They always make time for our calls (in-person meetings before COVID-19) and thoroughly explain things in detail, take the time to fix our mistakes, take the time to guide us in the right direction and so much more. I wish I knew about this company years ago.
Wow they are busy. Busiest Firm I've seen. Well over 3000+ clients with more being added everyday. This firm is great about communication, but as a client, I need to be good with communication as well or I can easily see how they don't have time to continually follow-up. This being said, they have more active communication then any other CPA firm I have dealt with. They send reminders, they follow-up about deadlines, and taxes to be paid, and they really do go above and beyond to make sure your needs are me
Jake was great in helping me through the IRS proposed change to my filing 2 years ago. He walked me through other questions regarding future tax complications, was friendly and great to work with during a stressful time. Will use Action Tax Services in the future!
Do not use, bad communication, bad service, no accountability. I'm having to have my 2021 taxes amended because he did such a poor job. Avoid this accountant, he will cost you additional dollars which I'm having to pay now to redo his work.
Action Tax is the best! Tax season for me can be stressful as a business owner but knowing that Jake and his team of professionals are there to help it truly puts me at ease. I owed a substantial amount to the IRS and he cut my IRS bill in half. I can?t say enough good things about the team at Action Tax.
Too busy, hit or miss team. I approached them since a few folks recommended to me to talk to them. Apart from the first time (during client acquisition), the team didn?t have any time to come on phone. All the conversations were email. Moreover I provide them tax docs weeks in advance but they were too busy to file. Last 2 days of tax filing period, the accountant comes back with 10x the tax estimate without any justification for why it is so when nothing substantial has changed in my income situation.
As owner of Green City Pest Control we have been a client of ActionTax for over 3 years and have been very pleased with the professionalism and service that we have received. I strongly recommend Jake and his team if you own a small business.
This place is sketchy. I went in for a consultation with Nisha, didn?t sign up for their services because she kept changing her prices during that conversation. 6 months later, they billed me $250 with them saying that I agreed and signed up for them to do my basic book keeping. Apparently they think it?s fine to forge signatures. Take your business elsewhere!
Very disappointing. Service is promising and friendly at first. But it appears when you need something from them you wont get it. Jake will cut you off, and try to lecture you. Christa will forget to follow through, or fail to relay information. I've emailed them for several months trying to get copies of documents they filed for a previous tax period for my attorney. Face to face Jake finally says his firm did file the paperwork in question. But no I cant have copies of it. They would rather let me leave.
"Charlie unfortunately failed to run a successful business, and had to close his doors. In the process, he ran up a bill with us and was unable to pay it. He needed his final business tax return completed, and agreed to pay us from the refund he would receive. When he received the money, he did not pay us. So, we did not give him the accounting work he had us perform. He attempted to file a complaint with the BBB, and failed. He also attempted to file a complaint with the Board of Accountancy, which sided w
Wow. This is the fastest service I?ve ever gotten for doing my taxes. Usually it will take me almost an hour to get things done but this time it only took no more than 15 minutes in and out. I only asked them to make sure it?s all resolved and were quick about it. They would hold onto your paperwork?s until you?re ready to pay so that you don?t have to redo the paperwork again. Go see Corrie Koopman. She will help you get a great tax return. She is also quick.
Allow me to begin by saying: IF YOU ARE SITTING ON BACK TAXES GET OFF YOUR BUTTS! Ahem. So if you can't tell I waited on my taxes thinking, well "If I don't think about them I won't have to deal with them." Unfortunately just because I didn't think about my taxes doesn't mean the IRS will, which brings me to my review. A few weeks back I received a nasty gram from our favorite revenue collecting agency, the IRS, stating an intent to levy or seize (gasp!) any assets necessary to satisfy my multiple years of
They have done my taxes for 8 years, and when I had my business they did my accounting and book keeping. They did it so well thatwhen I was audited there was only a $500 mistake in 4 years of auditing! Great company.
Jake Hanes is the worst. He is a terrible accountant. He ripped my family off. Do not go to him. If I could give ZERO stars, I would.
We use Action Tax Service for our communications company and they take care of everything. They are very knowledgeable, easy to work with, and don't charge us a fortune.
i have been using action tax for years and i can state that they have saved me money, pure and simple. the entire staff is professional and knowledgeable in their respective positions. i would highly recommend them.
Jake has been doing my taxes for 8 years and have had nothing but great service. Always on time and no mistakes. Thank you
I was planning on doing my taxes with you guys but seems like brother Jake has a lot of complaints from previous clients. Tf?
Action Tax is prompt and very knowledgeable. Great to work with for any kind of tax return including business, personal, and estate taxes.
This guy is a con artist who will try and steal your business. Steer clear. Someone needs to write to Jesse Jones about this guy. Nothing but a crook. How he is in business is beyond me.
Awesome people! Nisha, Cris, Jake and cory were all a big part of this years success and tax savings!
I absolutely love action taxes! They are experts who always go the extra mile for me and my business.
Saved me more than id like to share publicly. Will never use an automated service again.
Very detailed and amazing tqx specialists. Very proactive and keeps you ahead of the tax game.
Excellent team. I highly recommend Action tax services.
Nightmare to work with. No accountability. Extremely unprofessional.
A great group of people. They went above and beyond to help me with tax issues.
I am very happy with the service here. I trust them.
Very quick and easy to work with. A little expensive
Timely, trustworthy, and reliable tax service.

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
