Alicia and her team are great! They have helped me with my taxes for quite a few years now. This year, Dwayne worked with us and went above and beyond to help us catch some things we were missing before filing. It?s always a pleasure to work with this team!
Alicia and staff are amazing! This was our first year working with them based on a recommendation from another accountant and I couldn't be more pleased. They were incredibly communicative, answered all of our questions and were transparent about what they could achieve in the time we gave, even beating their own expectations! Everything was handled seamlessly and professionally via online signatures and payment making it super simple for us. Highly recommend this group!
Prior to making a decision about whether to return to this business for a tax filing, I called the office and specifically asked whether there had been a rate increase over the previous year. Rather than answer the question directly, the office told me that I could expect a fee "right around [last year's]." I found out only after the taxes were done that there had been an adjustment "...to account for increases in operating costs and cost of living..." If that were the case, why couldn't the office have jus
EXCELLENT service and team. I had complicated filings and taxes in arrears and had worked with 2 other cpa firms that couldn?t get me over the finish line. Very professional and very knowledgeable and helped me break it down and get it all together so they could finish my filings. Can?t say enough about what a great team of people they are!!!!
Alicia and her staff are the absolutely the best, ?? !! They have been working my 2020 taxes for 4 years. We have gone back and forth with the IRS and was afraid I was going to get screwed and pay them 9K. My case was not that complicated but the IRS had to make sure my sister and I were in fact siblings to claim her children as I was their provider at the time. Yesterday, I opened my mail up to find out, WE won!!!! I do not owe and am so thankful for Alicia and her entire staff as they worked tirelessly f
I almost always leave glowing reviews - I?m much more excited to share good businesses with others. Our experience here was bad enough that I am compelled to leave a review to hopefully save others a headache. We had a nice visit with Alicia when we were considering switching from another CPA. The office staff was cordial. That?s the end of the good news. The process is very impersonal and formulaic. No consultation/meeting to tax plan or review prior to the return being prepared. Multiple mistakes were mad
I am deeply disappointed and discouraged by my entire interaction with Alicia and her staff. They made incredibly costly mistakes, and when my husband reviewed our taxes and asked questions, we were treated as though we were a nuisance. After requesting an extension and finally being given more time, they discovered that we were indeed correct. Had we gone with their original suggestion to "sign the return," we would have overpaid by nearly $20,000. There was no apology or attempt to make it right. When th
I?ve have been using Alicia?s tax service to prepare my yearly taxes since I have moved to Asheville over 10 years ago. She has since grown considerably and now employs a great staff to assist her. Alicia has always been friendly, sharing her first hand experiences and providing me with her expert tax advice. I?ve had no reason to look elsewhere when it comes to tax advice and tax preparation. Thank you Alicia and team for your great service all these years!
I don't enjoy writing a negative review, but I'm writing this because I wish I had known this before I went to Alicia Sisk-Morris. She has an odd procedure for doing taxes ? she doesn't meet with her clients. She wants all the documents sent to her electronically or dropped off. This makes it impossible to discuss things. In addition, the office appears to be sloppy and disorganized. As just one example, it took her two weeks to do my taxes, and my taxes were easy and I dropped everything off in mid-March.
I have known Alicia for over 25 years and always known her to be a person of the highest ethics. Her desire to be accurate and ethical compare to none. It?s no surprise to see she has built a successful accounting and tax advisor business based on these foundational ?bricks?. Her decades of success helping her piers, friends, community of clients successfully navigate the tax system speak the highest accolades. Trust is key in this work and so is deep knowledge and expertise. Alicia has all this and more!
1040, Schedule C, Tax Code, 1098? and 1099?s. Do you understand them? Do WANT to? No worries?Alicia Sisk-Morris CPA does so you don?t have to! Alicia and staff have handled my returns for 10 years. When my kids first had to file taxes, I said ?Call Alicia!? She?s there for my family, not just on April 15, but year round whenever we have a question. I especially like being able to scan my documents, ease of e-signing and filing. Alicia and staff are always professional, courteous, and quick to reply. You
Alicia has done my taxes for over 14 years and has done an exceptional job. She is very thorough, answers my questions and makes sure I understand all of the new tax laws. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a CPA.
Professional, quality work. Alicia has years of experience, and is up to date on tax code - when I had been doing my own returns, there were many things I missed. Do you have an AirBnB or a long-term rental? She's your go-to. She and her staff go above and beyond to be available to her clients whenever they have questions.
Alicia is always there to answer questions and help. Her staff is great as well. She has been handling my taxes for year.
Alicia is so experienced and I would trust her with any of my tax work; she's an excellent CPA. She also has the utmost integrity, which I highly respect. Thankful for having such a great resource!
Alicia Sisk-Morris maintains a current working knowledge of tax rules and applies every possible option for fair tax reporting and filing. As a licensed professional, she has been a trusted advisor for many years. Her services range from business bookkeeping to complex accounting of estates, trusts, businesses, real estate holding/investment companies, calculating tax basis and capital gains, losses not covered by insurance, etc. Our taxes have included numerous complexities over the past eleven years. Small business owners BEWARE !!!!! This firm held my taxes well over a month, DID NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS. Charged me a $150 B.S. fee for worse than literally nothing. I never actually saw or spoke to ANY accountant nor accounting work. My guess is that this firm is all caught up in the ethics and attitude of the "new Asheville" and so BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR HAVING YOUR FINANCIALS HELD FOR 6 WEEKS AND NO WORK ACCOMPLISHED OR PRODUCED.
Alicia is detail-oriented, professional and straight-forward. The service she and her team delivers is exemplary. Highly recommend this firm for anyone looking for a CPA.
I received a bill from the IRS for $15,000 that I didn't even *understand* -- one call to Alicia and she took all the information and got everything straightened out. She's fantastic!
Alicia and her staff are thorough, courteous, quick to respond, and great to work with. We got all of our questions answered and our needs met. The transaction was handled with the highest integrity.
Alicia Sisk-Morris is a very ethical tax professional. I have every confidence in her work. Tremendous integrity!
Alicia is a reliable, honest credit to the accounting industry. She is also a consummate professional. Why go anywhere else?
Alicia and her company came to our rescue when the IRS erroneously said we owed them $10K from our kids? college expenses. Turns out we owed them nothing! Thank you!!
Alicia is an extremely knowledgeable tax professional. Highly recommend.
I recommend this accounting firm. They have been professional and proficient. We have been happy with their services.
Highest integrity. Honest answers and quality work always. Highly recommend!
Excellent service and integrity. Would highly recommend.
Excellent, very helpful.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
