We have been using Ed and Kerry for several years. I chose them because my husband's job makes tax preparation extremely complicated. We have had nothing but excellent service each and every year. One year I was late sending the my paperwork due to an emergency we were going through only to find that he filed an extension on our behalf because he noticed he hadn't received anything. Tax time is busy but you will get an appointment to speak with Ed in a very timely manner. I could not say enough about this b
We began using Ed Allen in 2012. He was referred to us by a friend. Everything was good until it wasn't. Communication began to lag and I started getting poor feedback about him from the people I had referred to him over the years. For 2022, we decided to change CPAs because our tax situation became extremely complicated. When our new CPA reviewed our recent returns they found several errors made by Ed Allen. We had to pay our new CPA to amend a few returns and then also pay the penalties for those errors.
I haven?t dealt directly with Ed, but have found his personal tax preparation to be accurate, timely and his fee quite reasonable. I have dealt with Kerry and Kara and they are always friendly and quick to respond to my questions. I recommended them to my brother who is now a client and I highly recommend them to others as well.
Ed Allen has been our CPA for a number of years now. He was recommended by a good friend. Ed's service is fantastic! He is very knowledgeable and the best in the business! We highly recommend him and his team!
Ed Allen has been our personal CPA and also a business referral partner for my mortgage business for a number of years. His knowledge and expertise is ELITE and I recommend him to everyone.
Ed is awesome. Besides knowing tax stuff inside and out, he is really fun to talk to and hang out with. He really tries to understand your situation and help walk you through the filing process with as few headaches as possible. The best part about working with Ed is being able to shoot him a quick text or email with a tax question. You don't see customer service like that anymore. I would recommend Ed to anyone looking to be in total control of their taxes and tax planning.
Ed is super easy to work with and knows taxes inside and out. We had done our taxes personally for the last handful of years and found Ed and it has been a game changer for our business and personal taxes. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great CPA.
Ed, Kerry, and Megan are excellent! They are very kind, considerate people and easy to work with. Ed handles complex tax situations, is a straight shooter, and genuinely cares about his clients. Our taxes are always done correctly and on time. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a tax professional!
After years of looking for a CPA who could understand my business and accounting needs, I have found a great one in Ed Allen. He is not only pleasant to work with, he really knows his stuff! After working with him a few times, he was able to clean up my QuickBooks and set me on the track to better accounting. I would highly recommend Ed Allen CPA for any small business or individual looking for a competent CPA that speaks your language!
Ed is great to work with and a leader within his field. He brings much more than extensive knowledge of the IRS tax code to his clients. Ed is the consummate professional, committed to ensuring you receive the consulting advice needed to make sound business decisions regarding your financial future.
My wife and I have used Ed for our taxes for several years, and will continue to do so. We are thouroughly pleased with the service he offers. He, his wife and their workers are very professional and courteous, always responding to questions in a timely manner, always there to answer any questions that we have. Thank you for your superb service!!
If I could give negative stars I would. Worst experience and it is still going! Terrible communication skills. We paid a hefty price to have our taxes done this year with Ed. We chose him thinking he could take care of us and would be a better choice than H&R Block. Boy were we wrong! We just got a notice from the IRS yesterday telling us they did not receive our return until May 15th!!!! One month late!!!! This is after being told our taxes were submitted on time via internet. We didn't get one ph
Ed and his staff are top notch. Our tax returns are done right and on time, our business concerns are dealt with in a timely fashion and the staff goes above and beyond to assist me. I've had to call Ed with questions and he gets back to me promptly with an answer. I couldn't imagine getting that type of personal service anywhere else.
Ed and Kerry are fantastic. We have a very strange situation as my husband typically works in several states throughout the year. It's a complex tax situation and we've tried many different people through the years and finally found someone who does an impeccable job.
Ed is extremely good at what he does and his expertise in real estate taxes is unmatched! He has also been a great help in consulting me as my business has grown and I am planning on buying a building.
Peace of mind and takes all the stress out of taxes! This is my third year with Allen Consulting and Ed is the best best. Timely & thorough.
I never received a thing from my 2020 tax filing. I've been notified a few times about how it was being processed and it was behind due to "covid." However, I haven't heard back from them since the beginning of the year and nothing shows up on the IRS site. Update: $250 for an error that was made on the return and after expecting a return for over a year, I now owe IRS. Avoid.
Really unhappy with the overall experience. Our return was electronically filed and rejected multiple times but we were under the impression it was submitted. We even paid the IRS the amount we were told we owed. My 2019 return was rejected from e-file only to find out from the IRS that our 2018 return wasnt submitted... Could have used Turbo Tax and had better results...
I?ve been using Ed for years and I?m always happy with the results. Great CPA for business!
Terrible experience! Terrible at returning calls. Worst of all he emailed our return with all our personal information to the wrong email, along with the password to open it! Not worth it. Find somewhere else!
Ed has saved me so much time and frustration!
Great company and I highly recommend them.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
