Barb took over my tax returns during Covid and I have been very pleased working with her & Seth ever since. They are prompt, efficient, and very knowledgeable with everything I need to get it done every year now. Blessings from heaven to people and companies with the integrity like BJS!
Wonderful tax service. Barbara and Seth are always up to date on the latest tax rules. I've been with them for years. I appreciate their knowledge and speedy returns being filed.
I've been using BJS & Associates to handle my business and personal taxes for over 10 years. Their projections are always spot on! I'm always impressed with the depth and breadth of their knowledge on a wide variety of tax issues. I highly recommend their services.
Barb and Seth have gone above and beyond any previous accountants I have had. Finding them has been a blessing for both my business and me personally. They are very knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend them to anyone looking for an accountant or bookkeeper.
Barb and her staff work accurately, quickly, and fairly. They helped resolve a dispute I had with the IRS by researching records that went back decades! They are also personable, and they are honest with you. I'm very glad I was referred to them!
Very, very professional, knowledgeable and prompt! I have been using BJS for many years and it?s been really great. Highly recommended!
We have had Barbara Sabel do our taxes for decades and have continued with her even since moving to North Carolina. She stays knowledgeable about current tax laws, responds to questions in a timely fashion, and makes it easy to deal with estimated income tax and other details.
Barb and Seth are awesome! They?re always there to assist me with any questions I have throughout the year and they are always on top of the game in regards to changes in the law. Their thoroughness and quality of work is second to none.
BJS has been doing our taxes like forever there is none better. I have tried others but they are the best there is. My recrds go back to 2012 and I'm sure it's been longer then that. Keep up the GREAT work
Barb and Seth have always done their level best to help me with my dental practice. I have been a client for almost 8 years now. I would highly recommend their services.
This group has provided excellent expertise in their field. We were a start up company that needed guidance and they did a great job coaching us through the complexities of setting up and sustaining our books for both an S-corp and LLC.
We have worked with BJS for 15 years. Things are always done on time and correctly. They go over the top to make sure things are done right. The tax strategies have saved us thousands of dollars.
I've been with Barb and Seth for over 25 years, I highly recommend them to everyone! They know Accounting!
Worst experience ever, first and last time ever doing business with them, they made a 15 minute phone call to the irs and charged me almost $300 , and when they did my taxes i asked them how much it would cost me and they said $275, then they hit me with a bill for $792 , and when i called and asked them about it they were extremely rude, this is a family business working out of their home, Do not make the same mistake i made , go to the pros were their fair and know how to treat their customers
I've been a client for many years. Always a pleasure to work with this team. Plus, they are always available to answer questions and give advice.
Excellent service; guides us from year to year; Barb takes care of you. Highly recommend.
Taxes were done fast. Needed to get my elderly father-in-law's taxes done and, even without an appointment, was told "no problem ".
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
