We have always been pleased with the exceptional service we have received from Greg and the entire staff over the years. They are very responsive to answering questions accurately and in a timely manner. We would highly recommend them!
We used them for years, without issue. Then our taxes became slightly more complicated, which caused them to file extension after extension, resulting in our final taxes being completed in July or August. We also received penalty notices from the IRS, which they did take care of. Their reason for this was never actively pursued by them, we always had to call to find out what's happening. Their secretary is nice, but usually had the same response?it's not done because the other partner isn't finished reviewi
If I could give BW more stars I would. Have been a client for over 30 years and have always had excellent service!
In spite of the fact that we have lived in Texas for the past 16 years we continue doing business with Bredernitz, Wagner and Company in Howell, Michigan and they have done our taxes for the past 18 years. Their team is responsive, accurate and we have never had our returns questioned by IRS. Very happy with their service and work!
Janice R. was very helpful. Great customer service!
We've been using them for over eight years for our business accounting needs. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, we like them all and we have a great relationship with them. They are always quick at getting back to us. We are going through an audit right now and they have been most helpful.
In 2020, we began working with Greg and team for multiple business and personal tax preparation services. Our experience has been exceptional! They are professional, respectful, prompt in communication and extremely detail oriented. Highly recommend them!
They came recommended to me and they were friendly but I haven't heard anything from them since dropping off taxes three weeks ago (now only 6 days until taxes deadline). The tax preparer we saw had a very messy office with stacks upon stacks of papers. I felt uncomfortable leaving our documents but with the recommendations I received I decided to anyway. The first time I called o was told they couldn't find me or my paperwork in the system... Now, I've called 3 times and left a message and still haven't re
We have used Bredernitz & Wagner for many years. Greg always has time to answer our questions and is quick to call us back if he is unavailable. The front desk is kind and Shelly is amazing, I would highly recommend this company. Jeff & Karen
Didn't finish the taxes until June, said it was no problem they would file an extension even though they knew I was going to owe money. Ended up costing me over $500 in late fees that they did not mention at all until I asked about it after reviewing the paperwork. Glad I wasted $400 on this service, you are better off with turbo tax or anyone else. Update: got a letter from the IRS saying I owe them more money because they didnt calculate the late fee properly. great cpa.
We have been working with this firm for several years and they consistently meet our needs and always go above and beyond in their level of service. I would highly recommend them for your CPA needs!!

Very professional and knowledgeable! Always friendly, helpful and responsive. Ray and the staff go out of their way to ensure a pleasant experience.
Bredernitz, Wagner & Co., P.C. have done our accounting for a number of years. Their work is accurate, and they're good about answering questions.
Quick to answer any questions I have and my husband uses them for his small business as well. Well trusted to handle our accounting needs.
Excellent service, particularly from Julie McColl.
The Bredernitz, Wagner & Co. are always very helpful. They do everything in timely manner and they are always friendly.

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
