Customer Reviews

Back in 2023 I filled out a contract to get help with my property taxes. I received no call, email, mail, text or any communication at all until 2025 when I received a bill for over $170 for work they said they did for me. Actually they did nothing, because my property taxes weren't lowered at all. Avoid this scam at all costs.

Great service & great communication. Been using for years and don?t have to stress about the taxes for county and city. Back office is great.

I purchased the prepaid plan that costed me $125. Such plan jn description says I would get a extensive packet of information on how much my house should be evaluated, multiple comparable properties analyzed by them. I would receive all the information so I can file my own protest, or they would take over if I decide I can't or want to attend my hearing. We'll I didn't received anything. No paper, no call back, no information. The recepcionist, not helpful at all, kept insisting the Agent will call m

Purchased a pre paid package online with about a month in advance before my property protest hearing date. I sent a follow up email asking if they received my order and if they needed anything else from me. That email was never replied too. I called the office and told the secretary I purchased the prepaid plan weeks ago and no one has gotten back to me. I told her my hearing date and time, and she replied that all data would be sent out two days before the hearing date so that it is the most up to date inf

I purchased the prepaid packet from cadtax, I followed their directions they sent me in an email and contacted them before my hearing was scheduled. In fact, I contacted their office 4 times the week before and was advised a Tim would be calling me, no one ever called. I called their office 3 times the morning of my scheduled hearing, I finally got a returned call that Tim would meet me there at the hearing, no one ever showed up. I was never rude or upset with anyone, sometimes these types of situations ca

I utilized the CAD office for tax year 2022. They did assist with decreasing the tax with the Hidalgo appraisal district However I requested to speak with a supervisor/owner on several occasions, in which they never made themselves available or returned any emails or calls. I was requesting to speak with them regarding if they can assist with an additional service When I did finally speak with the owner (5/2023), she advised that I never sent any emails in which she told me to email her again. It is now 4 w

Exceptional service that exceeded my expectations! From Start to finish, the team over at CadTax demonstrated professionalism, efficiency, and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. Highly recommended!

CADTax saved me hundreds of dollars in my property taxes. The staff was professional and always responded to my questions promptly. I will use them again this year and I highly recommend!!

This was my first time working with CADTax and I got a great reduction on my home. They answered promptly and were able to take care of everything for me. Definitely will call these guys again.

Howdee Cadtax. I've not had the pleasure mostly because I do my own taxes. But your TV add is inaccurate when you state our property taxes will increase. They won't. In fact, gov. Abbott has committed to lowering them out of the surplus budget. It's in the news. Please correct your adds.

I never even got to the point of hiring Tim Wilkins to work on a protest because he was so hasty and arrogant during the process of just accurately preparing the documents that I chose to not move forward with him. Save yourself the time and heed the warnings in both their reviews and in the articles that come up when you Google his name. Super unprofessional and I only gave a star because I had to.

I reached out to them for some much needed assistance. Spoke to 3 different people in their office, and all of them were polite. They returned my calls and emails in timely manner, and I trust they are extremely knowledgeable.

They have actually done OK for me. In the past I couldn't get a hold of them by phone but they always did a good job with the tax reduction. I just called today and someone answered the phone so hopefully that is a new way of doing business that will be permanent.

They did a great job in reducing my taxes and helping me as well with preparing my documents for protest. Working with them made me feel at ease, highly recommending their services!

My parents and I have been using their services for years. They do an excellent job lowering the overinflated property value set forth ny the Hidalgo County appraisal district.

As a small busniess owner having people behind you that know what they are doing in imperative. Having one less thing to worry about during these times is a life saver. Even during all thats been going on in the world I knew at least my finances were in order and had help to get me and my busniess through these scary times. Highly Recommend!

A strong and professional team. With So many ?fly by night? tax company?s, it?s nice to see one that sticks around all year long. Pleasure to work with, AND they did what they said they could do.

Great service and communication. Did a very good job for me. Will be a repeat customer. Thanks Tim.

They saved me money and only took a reasonable percentage. These bad reviews I saw look like they came from fake accounts. These are truly good people.

Very professional. Saved us a lot of money. Easy communication. Great results

The team at Cad Tax saved me close thousands of dollars and did everything for me. Highly recommended!!!

Cad Tax saved me a lot of money on my property taxes, and I didn't have to do anything! They took care of it all, and I got the savings. I use them now every year to protest my property taxes!

Local people, great service! Cad tax has been around for years I highly recommend them!

Had a great experience with Tim and the team! Definitely call them and have them take a look at your property taxes!

We have worked with CADTAX for over 10years, had more than an exceptional service from them

To charge a person a late charge for an invoice not received in addition to charge a fee that is five times the original invoice is unethical.

Great experience, very knowledgeable and dedicated to helping. I highly recommend cadtax

This was the first time I've used this type of service and I am very pleased with the results.

Great experience with CADTax! 100% recommended.

Not surprised to see so many people unhappy with this business. Unprofessional, rude, untrained employees... go elsewhere.

The best! They do great work...

Was able to successfully lower my tax bill

Great family owed business.

Professional service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
