We had the pleasure of going on a dolphin watching trip with Catalina Coastal Tours. Like all wild life watching excursions there is no guarantee to see anything. Frank aka Frankie was our tour guide. We started on a trip around the island to see the sea lions. As we watched the sea lions, Frank not only kept us in a great viewing position he also kept an eye looking off shore. Next thing we knew, he said I see dolphins. Let's go and see if we can catch up to them. We headed out to where he saw the Do
We can't say enough good things about our dolphin and sea lion tour with Catalina Coastal Tours and Fishing. We checked in at their office and were led to the dock to board the boat. We honestly thought the odds of seeing dolphins were low, but then our guide (I wish I could remember his name) took us straight out into the water to a big group of dolphins. Being a local, he was very knowledgeable about island life and knew exactly where to find dolphins. He even took our group around to see some of the isla
This past weekend my honey surprised me with a weekend in Catalina island. He booked the sunset cruise we boarded the Redrum with captain John. My honey let the captain know as we boarded that he was going to propose to me and asked him to ?take some pictures of us at sunset to make some awesome memories? we'll captain John was amazing. He recorded the proposal for us and went searching for dolphins.. he did not give up and was on a mission to make this even more memorable than anyone could expect. He found
Our boat captain Scott was very helpful and informative about the island, really friendly and nice, and made us feel very safe out on the water. Really cool guy and very easy to talk with. Seeing Catalina from the water gives a great perspective and this was a very personal tour we really enjoyed!
On our last evening in Catina, we asked a local who they recommended to explore the ocean wildlife. We were fortunate enough to have Brent as our captain. He found a pod of several hundred dolphins that swam right along his boat! Truly an incredible experience. Also saw sea lions and seals. Would recommend this company without hesitation. He really took his time and seemed as excited as we were. Loved his energy and positive attitude!
Such an amazing experience. I wanted to be on a small boat for a tour and this was perfect. We couldn't find the office for signing the paperwork and I was worried the boat would leave without us, but the staff was so accommodating. We got to see a pod of Risso?s dolphins, a bunch of sea lions and even some seals. The captain was so nice and knowledgeable about the island and its wildlife!
There guys are great. From front desk to the boat captains... 5 star.
We went out on the Dolphin / Sealion tour this afternoon. It was a surreal experience!. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a 10/10 personalized experience that I highly recommend. It was worth the money and the dolphins swam right under our boat! The sea lions were easy to spot and curious. If you are looking for something fun to do in Avalon this is the thing to do!
My wife and I Chartered Mojo with Captain Lance. He knows where the fish are and was terrific explaining about the current fishing conditions and what we might expect to catch, and we did! Two Yellowtails over 30 lbs each. When we were finished he filleted them and bagged them up for us. We brought a cooler that did the trick on the boat ride back to the mainland. Strongly recommend this company.
Captain Jason was by far the best!!! He made the entire tour. Very knowledgeable about the island and the animals. He was super sweet and patient with everyone, not to mention he has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend this tour. The dolphins and sea lions are so beautiful, we got to get up really close to them. It was a great time!!
We did the Dolphin / Sea Lion Tour on the boat RedRum. This tour is a must-do while in Avalon! It was reasonably priced and lots of fun! I would say the Sea lions are guaranteed, whereas the Dolphins are not. With that said, we were lucky enough to see a pod of Dolphins showing off for us. They were bow-riding, doing flips out of the water, and even "pairing up." The captain was a professional, kind-hearted dude who offered many fun facts about the sea lions and the dolphins. We were given ample time to tak
Spent Fathers Day 2020 weekend with this tour group and I had an amazing time. Everyone was attentive to our needs and they did there best to accommodate our last minute changes. Our day started off with the best fisherman in the world Captain Brad. With his expertise we landed a large yellow-fin and other fishes. We later booked a JetSki adventure with Nick and his co-worker who made our experience out of this world. Made everyone feel safe and understand water safety. Great Job. Highly recommend!!!
I had a great time fishing for Bonita with this outfit. The captain was fun, informative, and helpful. My brother in law had a destination wedding on Catalina and we all wanted to go fishing. We took up two boats and all I can say; Yes John you got the biggest fish, but we had the cooler captain! :-) If you want to go have a great time with a couple of fun captains then give these guys a shot. They rigged everything making it easy for first-timers and they cleaned our fish once the trip was over. They even
Captain Jon absolutely killed it; friendly and tenacious in finding wildlife. He asked the right people at the right points to find and naturally hang alongside a huge pod of dolphins. A truly great trip out on the water!
My wife and I took the 1-hour wildlife watching tour. The tour was on a small boat with a max capacity of 6, although we only had 2 other people on the boat with us. The trip took us out along the shore to the east of Avalon, to see the sea lion breeding area and the bird life around there. We then went out into open water in the hope of spotting a whale, which we did. Our captain was very knowledgeable and friendly, and I got to take some close-up pictures of sea lion cubs playing, a pelican diving for fis
Brad was an amazing captain!!! We are novice fishermen (and women) and he trusted his gut and took us out to a particular spot where we caught a halibut and 3 yellowtail. He did a great job of filleting it after and gave us a great restaurant recommendation where they cooked our fish and we had a delicious meal! Thank you Brad for what will be one of the best experiences of my life! The rest of the staff at the dock was great and friendly as well!
My family and I scheduled a Burial at Sea with Catalina Coastal Tours. I cannot express enough thanks to Captain Brad for such a beautiful, sacred, and memorable day! He made our Celebration of Life cruise far better than we could have hoped. Sharon who answered the phone and scheduled our booking was so wonderful! She had our reservation planned so quickly! We got off the ferry from Dana Point into Catalina where we were met by Captain Brad on the same dock...could not have been any easier! We slowly
Our experience could not have been better. Captain Brad put us on the fish right away, and we stayed on them until the end of our trip. He provided us with awesome info about the island and took every measure to make sure our experience was one to remember - and it absolutely was. Taking our freshly caught fish (and cleaned thanks to Brad) into Avalon to be cooked up at a local restaurant was icing on the cake. Thank you Captain Brad and Catalina Coastal Tours! Highly Recommend.
Booked 2 hour family fishing trip with captain Lance. We were very happy. We all caught fish and he even took us in closer to see some sea lions. We definitely will be booking another trip with him.
Captain Lance was terrific! We were out a little early as we had arrived early. Lance took us to a spot where my girls were getting hits and bringing in fish, although not a lot of keepers. Then we went toward shore a bit and each one of the 3 of us hooked a tiger shark and got to reel them in. Only one was landed and it, of course, was released. Finally, with about an hour left, Lance asked if we wanted to troll for bigger fish or fish the bottom where we would definitely catch something. I' of course said
I loved the experience my family had with catalina coastal tours for a 3 hour private charter. Booked the charter for my sister and brother in laws 3rd anniversary and the team specially Cap. Sandra ensured they had the best time. She even made our little pup feel special by keep him warm in the blanket (very sweet of her). They greeted my family with a bouquet of flowers. She acquainted them with the rich history of Catalina, it's natural resources, and how the locals strive to preserve the island with its
It was an amazing boat ride to Two Harbors. We encounter a pod of bottle nose dolphins and we followed or they followed for like 10 minutes. Plus, We learned about the coastal biology. Highly recommend it. Bring a sweater it gets cold when the boat is going fast and you want it to go fast! Bring snacks to eat at Two Harbors. It is a very expensive town.
Parasailing was incredible, so much fun. Both of my friends and I all got to ride together and we got dunked twice! I cannot wait to go back and do it again!!!
My girlfriend and I had a great chat with the kind owners and their guide Sandra was very nice and knowledgeable about the area and animals. Thank you!
When you thnk of fish stories, you might think of the biggest fish, we'll mine may have been the biggest, but we will never know because the sea otter had my fish on line for lunch, all except the head that I reeled in as fast as I could. We had a great time!
Great boat! Good price. Captain Lance was personable, professional and fun. We scored. Wish we could do it again. Highly recommended.
Would do another fishing trip again in a heart beat . Booked at 4 hour fish trip with 5 family members with captain Lance on the Mojo. We might have had a little bad weather but it was a great time.
Really great experience. Captains Lance and Brent were awesome. Caught a bunch of fish. Saw some good wildlife. Highly recommended.
Awesome experience, Sandra was incredibly informative and took the time to find us some wonderful wildlife to see. Highly recommend this tour!
Had a lot of fun with the underwater voyage I recommend if you haven't tried this yet to do so as soon as you can!
We had a great time with Captain Lance on the Mojo - I would definitely book another charter with Catalina Coastal!
Canceled our boat reservation 4 days before our trip due to a miscommunication between the staff and the owner. DO NOT USE! If you agree to it and pay for it, they will change it 4 days before.
Captain Lance was amazing and landed us some prime time lobsters!!! A+++
Such a great company. Went parasailing for the first time and the employees were great to work with
The best of the best work here! Great team of hardworking eco ocean friendly staff!
Loved it. Caught a monster. In the excitement forgot to even get photo. Next time
They have some of the best captains on the island.
Fun Captain's and great service! Exceeded our expectations!
Captain Lance hooked us up with fish right away!
Great charter but fish disappeared.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
