I worked with one of the attorneys in Clark Allison office (Gabi) on estate planning. I have legal insurance through work so I was told I would only have to pay pass through fees (the cost of the notary and the cost of the deed), she said it would be $495. I agreed to the terms and after doing so I realized they probably inflated the fees to take advantage of me. I asked for the breakdown of the $495 and they said $300 for deed filing fees and $195 for notary. However, the deed filing fee in San Diego count

As a financial advisor at ProsperPlan Wealth, I've been very fortunate to develop a strong relationship with Jennifer Ferraiuolo. She and her team have helped a large portion of my clients secure a solid transition plan for their assets, helping them avoid California's costly and timely probate process. Thank you, Jennifer, for your commitment to protecting our clients and their beneficiaries. It means so much to me a professional, parent, and planner that you are always willing to go out of your way to

Upon becoming the Trustee for my mother's estate I quickly learned I needed help upon her death. After reading positive reviews I called Clark Allison, who provided excellent estate management guidance for my mother's trust , and prepared the necessary documents and assisted in dealing with the disbursement process, appropriate court document filings, etc. His help and level of knowledge proved invaluable as i would/could not have completed this process properly without his help. Based on that excellent e

My husband and I could not have picked a better person to work with us on our estate planning! Clark took time to explain the process, offer advice and ensure that the most beneficial and appropriate steps were taken in our planning process! Clark is honest, trustworthy and only has the best in mind for his clients! We can't thank him enough for all of his time and guidance and for making what can be such an emotional and arduous process, such a smooth and easy one for us!

Clark has been the trust attorney for us personally for my family and for a great number of clients which we have referred to him. I have only had very positive responses from my clients in regards to their experience with Clark. I only refer my clients to other professionals whom I have a great amount of respect and trust and I will continue to utilize Clark within my small circle of trusted professionals.

I went to Clark based on a recommendation, and I am happy to pay that forward through this review. Clark is an approachable, down to earth person who will get right to the heart of a matter with no time wasted. He listened carefully to my issues and ideas and provided legal advice that was thorough and easy to understand. He encouraged questions and answered them fully. He did all that while being caring and warm, so that the legal discussion was made easier and I was at my ease. My estate planning was

My wife and I used Nora at this firm to complete our family's Living Trust. Nora was very knowledgable, explained things simply in terms we could understand, completed our documents super fast, and took extra time to make sure that we did everything properly on our end! Creating a Living Trust was so much easier than we thought it was going to be. Thanks for a great experience! I will definitely be recommending Nora to other families looking to create a Living Trust!

I am extremely pleased with this law firm. The price was very fair, and I liked my lawyer a lot. Writing an estate plan isn't an easy part of life, but end-to-end this firm did a perfect job of guiding me through the process. I was thrilled that I could handle everything without a single in-person office appointment, including final notarized signatures. I really couldn't have imagined a better experience!

Clark is an excellent attorney. He is a genuine and caring person, who I am greateful we were able to use as our family estate planning attorney. He helped us create the estate plan we needed to protect our assets and family. My wife and I both appreciated his exprtise and would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend or family member. P.S. I have worked with several estate planning firms over the years and Clark is second to none. Can't go wrong here!

My experience with Clark Allison updating my trust was a great experience. He was very professional, knowledgeable, humorous and friendly making the appointment stress-free. I would highly recommend him to anybody needing anything done related to their trust. He took extra time to explain every component and detail along the way.

We have worked with Clark for over 14yrs. We have used his services for everything from helping us to start a business, provide counsel for the acquisitions of our business, to helping us establish our family trust. Clark is extremely knowledgeable and is always a pleasure to work with. When asked by friends and or family if we can recommend an attorney, without hesitation I recommend Clark.

Clark was extremely knowledgeable, responsive and professional. Process for setting up our family living trust required two short meetings. The first over a zoom call, and the second to sign paperwork with a notary. Other options we researched required a ton of pre completed paperwork. Not required with Clark. It was very much a straight forward and easy process. We highly recommend Clark's legal services.

I would recommend Clark Allison to anyone looking an attorney to help with estate planning. Clark was recommended to me when I was looking for someone to help me with my mom?s trust. We needed to update her trust and the attorney who originally set it up had since retired. Clark was very patient and explained all our options to protect my mom?s estate. He was also very kind and patient when working with my slow moving, ailing mom. Clark, thank you for making a difficult situation a little easier.

My in-laws have used the estate planning services of Clark Allison for many years. He is knowledgeable, personable and very detailed. His fees are also very fair. Please don't trust this type of pre-planning to just any attorney. If not done properly, things will go south at the passing of a family member and any money that you previously "saved" will be spent cleaning up the mess.

Clark Allison helped us navigate a complex situation in a kind and professional way. He helped us set up a structure that works for our family and walk us through sensitive discussions and decisions we had to make. After many years of avoiding it, we finally were able to do it with Clark's great guidance and support. Thank you Clark!

Clark helped my family with our family trust. I have worked with several attorneys in the Sacramento area but have to say that Clark was by far the best. I would be happy to refer friends and family to work with him. Great experience, highly recommend.

Clark Allison is one of my trusted partners in making good decisions about legal matters and planning for the financial future of my family. He is the consummate professional and always provides legal advice from the perspective of what he would do himself or recommend to a family member. Thanks very much Clark.

Clark is a great person to work with because he listens, answers questions and discusses until one fully understands, and then offers suggestions. Finally he makes the process of preparing a Family Trust super easy. Working with Clark is a pleasure.

Clark Allison provides easy to understand answers to questions about setting up a family trust. We are breathing a sigh of relief after several years of thinking about who would do it and getting it done.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
