Walking in, I was greeted very kindly and asked if I wanted some water or coffee while I waited for someone available. I was introduced to Anthony and he was so informative and kind :) He made sure to let me know exactly what I needed for my taxes. I got my taxes done within a few weeks, on time, and everything was given to me in a very organized manner and easy to follow instructions packet. Anthony answered any and all questions I had and sat down to explain things to me as well. I am definitely coming ba
Nice folks. Been doing business for few years with them. They seem to have turnover issue with accountants.
We hired Cole, Newton & Duran and worked with Joseph to navigate the Employee Retention Tax Credit. The process was surprisingly easy and we qualified for a larger credit than expected. Joseph was very responsive, knowledgeable and great to work with. I would highly recommend Joseph and the CN&D team.
We have been working with Cole Newton & Duran for several years now. Recently, our accountant pointed out a problem that we had been putting off solving for a couple years. He suggested that we let their expert, Joseph Nicolas, handle it for us. Joseph solved it quickly and professionally and in much less time and money than we believed it would cost us. We are happy with the work CND is doing, and we would recommend them.
I have worked with Karen West as our tax accountant for personal and business at CN&D for years. She understands our issues and concerns and addresses them in a professional manner with a great advice. I highly recommend CN&D and Karen West.
I have been working with CND (Karen West) for two years. Karen has been the best. I can call, text, and/or email her anytime and I am meet with a great response, wonderful service, and timely action. She has had to handle many complex issues with our taxes over the last two years and does a great job. CND (Karen West) is worth every penny spent.
I wish I could give -40 stars. Ive never received such terrible service in my life. I came to them to do my taxes and help me with some legal compliance. I called 2 or 3 times, left messages, they kept ducking me and requesting payment for services. I eventually managed to get a hold of someone by showing up at the office. They kept sending me invoice after invoice, and they never finished my will or my taxes and they couldnt even tell me what each invoice was for.
I've been working with Jacqueline Nicolas from CND for years and couldn't be happier. She is professional yet personable, and is someone who cares about her clients. The quality of work that CND provides is excellent and well suited particularly to small and medium sized businesses.
We have been using Cole, Newton & Duran CPAs for over 15 years. They are extremely professional, pay close attention to details and prompt in their responses. They perform our annual audit and prepare our 990 and Michigan Solicitation Forms. Our Senior auditor Brian Sutton is phenomenal and very knowledgeable of the Non-Profit sector needs. I highly recommend this company.
We have been working with them now for 5+ years for our business and personal. They have been a tremendous help and resource for us and I am not sure what we would have done without them. They help us set up businesses, payroll, taxes, book keeping and SOOOO Much More! They are not just an accounting firm but a partner. Thank you for all that you continue to do for us!
My husband and I called on two different occasions looking for a CPA and a financial advisor to help us with our assets and taxes. Each time the person answering the phone would take down our info and say that someone will call us back. However, these people just don?t call you back. I understand that it is tax season, but instead of leaving potential clients to wait around, they can at least give us either a yes or no answer so we can move on.
Phenomenal firm! Could not recommend more highly.
Our account was acquired by CN&D from the sale of our former CPA's practice. Prevailing initial skepticism was reduced as Karen West became our point of contact who was (& continues to be) adept at responding to our concerns (w/out nickel & dime charges seen with other firms). Since the advent of our relationship, CN&D continues to develop itself into a "one-stop shop" of related services, not only to increase practice revenues, but to offer more client value with a fully-integrated service portfolio when
I love this company! Joseph has been very helpful, astute, and undertanding throughout the entire process. He isn't afraid to tell you he doesn't know something, and gets back to you promptly.
CND has provided exceptional service to our organization over the past several years. The CND team is responsive, helpful, and maximized our time together, allowing our team to spend less time on our audit and more on our mission. We look forward to working with CND in the future.
If I could give minus stars I would! Do not have taxes done by this company!! Not only could they NOT get our taxes done on time, which was finally done in November, they didn?t do them correctly!! Used this company for a couple years, HORRIBLE!!!!
We have been working with Michelle and Karen at CND for a number of years and have always appreciated their professional advice and responsiveness. The team at CND is always there when we need them!
Great company and especially Jackie N. They respond quickly and are always very helpful. My business is in confident hands with this team. Choose the best.
I started using Cole Newton & Duran PC a couple of years ago and very pleased. Would recommend them to anyone.
Very helpful staff and our accountant is very honest and helpful. I feel they always have their clients best interests at heart.
Very unprofessional, very unorganized, very rude. They?re liars and cheaters. This place is literally falling apart!! I?m surprised they?re even still in business?
Jackie does a great job keeping me straight and is very timely getting back to me.
I absolutely love this accounting firm.
I've always been taken care of
Professional, timely and accurate services.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
