Looking for a CPA after relocating to the area and this location was ell rated on Google. I was here for the first time in mid February and met with Dairel. We talked about what I needed, listened to some stories, and had a pretty pleasant experience. I was advised that his office wouldn't be able to prepare my taxes until after the first week of March. That wasn't a problem for me so I went on my way. March 15 I reached out for the first time and was told that my return should be completed by the nex
Dairel Denton took our taxes on a couple years ago when we were audited by IRS and told there were mistakes. Dairel Denton took the proper amount of time to review all my records for that tax year and came back with a different conclusion and disputed that we did NOT owe what IRS said and we flew threw the process after that and he made us feel at ease and we had no more issues after he stepped in and he saved us money in the long run and I'd rather pay someone for their expertise and it's correct than pay
It took Dairel Denton & Associates over a month to process my State and Federal Tax Returns. They completed them one day prior to the extended submission due date (July 15). When I arrived to pick them up, no explanation or advice was given to me on my taxes...the receptionist handed me my paperwork (what I had given them) and told me how much I owed to the Federal and State. I didn't even get a copy of the completed tax paperwork (you have to log into their portal to download and print off your own copy
I have used a couple different accountants in my lifetime and Dairel Denton's office is by far the best experience that I have ever had with an accountant. I am a FIRM believer that you get what you pay for. If you want advice from an expert, you will get just that at this office! I own 2 businesses and Dairel spent hours with me at our first meeting going over my business and personal tax information. He gave me so much insight on our business and things that I could/should do differently for the future of
This past tax season, we had our taxes done with Darrel Denton and Associates. We will definitely use them from now on. We also did some investing as well with them Meredith took the time to ask lots of questions to make sure we were doing the right thing. I HIGHLY recommend them.
If you want a top notch, first class accounting/tax firm, this is the place. I love the fact that they are certified with Dave Ramsey. They take care of me and my taxes. Always professional and knowledgeable. They are always keeping up to date with the latest trainings. They won't lead you astray.
Been using a CPA in Dexter for 6 years since buying a rental property, never paid more than 150.. moved to bluff and dropped my stuff off here, went to pick them up and was told I owe $400. My family owns a business and they only paid 350 this year but the lady at the desk is trying to assure me that 400 is normal.
Very detailed and knowledgeable. They are easy to talk to and help communicate complex issues in a way that is much easier to understand. Would highly recommend!!
Great service! As a business owner you need a trusted financial advisor. The folks at Dairel Denton & Associates are that trusted advisor!

They've been handling my taxes for years. Can't beat their service or knowledge!
Excellent service...5/5 all day long!!!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
