I had an unusual tax return to process. From beginning to end Harry and Team made my situation seem simple and routine. My returns were processed swiftly and efficiently. I even had a payment plan organized to meet my financial situation. I'm grateful that I called Direct Tax Relief! Thank you very much Harry and Team for your help!

From the start, the team at Direct Tax Relief has been incredibly helpful. Thank you, DTR!

Direct Tax Relief saved me. The IRS sent me notices stating that I owed them almost $100,000. I felt like I exhausted all of my options - I went to a well-known tax service in my county and they pretty much told me "I was in big trouble" without helping me resolve this or giving me any advice on what to do. I lost sleep, I was so stressed, it was just a really rough time for me. My friend suggested Direct Tax Relief so I decided to give them a call. At this point, I really didn't have a lot of hope. The gal

I am not one to leave reviews often, but I have to say that Harry at Direct Tax Relief was awesome to work with. He was kind, patient, and honest with me. From the beginning, I was given nothing but honest answers and detailed explanations to my questions. He was beyond patient with me and never seemed bothered by my phone calls. I would highly recommend going with Direct Tax Relief!

Arman, (Tax Attorney) was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was great in his communication and got the job done. We owed almost 60K in back taxes and we were able to settle for next to nothing (literally). It took almost 14 months (which was not by fault of the company, just a part of the process w/IRS) but it was totally worth the wait and worth every penny! Matthew (tax agent...filed our taxes) was also a pleasure to work with. Very very nice, responsive and helpful. Sales on the other hand, was not

If you have to deal with something unpleasant like taxes this is the place to do it! The team is great to work with and were very knowledgeable about my tax issues. They guided me through a tough year and put me into a much better situation. I am very happy with the services and will be using them year after year to do my taxes! Thank you to the team at Direct Tax Relief!!

Direct Tax Relief a true life saver. Received a bill for a very large amount that was related to my mother-in-law who had passed away. My wife is/was the exeutor of her estate. I called Direct Tax Relief, went over the details, sent a copy of their threat to levy a lien and waited. What I thought would be days of gathering documents, scanning and emailing I received a call back in 30 minutes. CEO and Founder Harry said, " its all taken care of, resolved and the State will be sending email closing their clai

Celeste was a really straightforward and reasonable person to work with. She jumps into things and assess the situation at hand with a reasonable eye and attention to detail- and when you're working with things as overwhelming and nebulous like taxes - you want the people you're working with clearly know what their doing and swiftly so. I think the one thing that I found hard to get on board with is paying for the service before any work is done but at the end of the day, these guys are professionals that o

Direct Tax Relief really helped me resolve the tax problems that I was dealing with. I found their customer service to be impeccable; they solved my issues a lot quicker than expected. I could not be more satisfied with their assistance. I strongly recommend Direct Tax Relief to anyone who needs any tax aid.

Crooks!!! If I could give them less than one star I would. I have never in all my life worked with such unprofessionalism, not only are they not available, days and weeks with no responsethe to emails or voicemails, the lack of communication is diplorable. Salesperson was nice and actually sounded sincere, once they had your money they demanded up front then the nice sincere salesman was out and it was months before anything happened. Stalled, FILED incorrect paperwork specially reported incorrect inc

It took a long time. My wife used to manage all our accounts and passwords. And when my wife passed away I was left trying to rebuild my life without her. I had nooo idea how to file or repair my back taxes and the professional help of Direct Tax Relief was worth every penny. Thank you.

I was told they have never had a bad result. I have years of owed taxes and they assured me they could make a deal. In 2015, I paid them $5000 and I worked really hard to come up with all the required documentation. The IRS turned down the request. Twice. Earlier this year, the IRS put me into uncollectable, not an unknown status for me. I was let go as a client because I couldn't continue to pay them, although the contract stated "one year or conclusion," and they have kindly done further work for me

Atty Arman and Sean Goodman were awesome in helping with IRS. The patience and professionalism shown to me was outstanding. Keep up the good work. Direct Tax Relief is truly people-friendly .

With my busy schedule I didn't have the time nor the patience to deal with the IRS. The staff at Direct Tax Relief handled my case very well and negotiated a favorable settlement on my behalf. I'm very grateful I found them.

If you have ever had to deal with the IRS, just know it isn't easy and it was such a big relief that I found DTR. They were understanding of my situation and were persistent in getting the issues resolved. Great customer service and turn around time. I also did my research and their cost is extremely reasonable.

Working with Direct Tax Relief has been great to work with, Celeste has excellent customer service skills and the process was easy for this not so text savvy individual. Thanks so much for helping my dad... Gary R Driggers!

We were in an audit with the IRS and they were trying to assess us over $100k in taxes. After DTR put in about 6 months of work, our balance was reduced down to $15k, and even that balance they were able to put us into a payment arrangement. Very happy with their knowledge and service.

Cannot be more grateful to the team, especially Harry. They resolved an intricate and complex tax issue, working directly with the IRS on our behalf. Harry and the team worked to resolve our issues thoroughly in a timely manner, providing us peace of mind during a very stressful time.

Do not use this place! It's a OVERPRICED? tax preparation company, in no way do they help with resolving tax problems they took my $2,000.00 after doing a pre-qualification and saying yes they can help with an OIC. All they told me is what I already knew, now I still owe from which I figured in the first place $22,000.00+$2,000.00 on top of the fact with no services rendered. This ordeal has left me more confused than I was before. I can totally have dealt with the IRS myslef and their clear website and opt

Had a very bad experience. First of all, I paid them twice to handle my audit and nothing ever got done. I still had to hire another company to help me complete my audit. I also asked for my documents back and had to drive to their office to pick it up and they forgot to give me one of the boxes. Months later they call me back saying if I don't pick up my documents they will shred it. Lost money and time!

Everything handled very professionally? Everything was handled very professionally and in a timely matter, everyone I worked with was very congenial and helpful. I definitely appreciate everything you did for me and would recommend you highly. Thank you again for your excellent service.

I contacted them for my case and they told me I didn't qualify for their services, so they didn't take on my case. Its difficult to find honest companies like this anymore. Thought I would share.

This company resolved my IRS tax problems quickly and provided wonderful customer service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing IRS representation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
