This was a great experience! The staff and Tom taking care of our return was great, I think he went beyond what we were expecting and explained everything we needed for him to handle our return. We couldn't have asked for more. We will refer anyone who's looking for help on their returns to Ashland. Than you again, we'll be back next year for sure!
This year?s tax filing was amazingly easy thanks to Don?s Tax Service and their online filing app, Tax Dome! Submitting our tax records was never easier, especially with Tax Dome?s scan and upload tool! Thank you!
We have had our taxes prepared with Don?s tax service for many years and they?ve always done excellent work. Very timely too.
I have been using this firm for the past 5-6 years. We have always been happy with the expertise and customer satisfaction from our tax preparer, Tom Conner.
I have been coming to this office for my taxes for about 5 years & have always had a great experience, staff is knowledgeable & very friendly, keep up with all that you do :) :)
10 stars! I Always look forward to my appointment with Lucas Ashland he?s so friendly and makes everything very easy to understand. He saves us so much stress and we will keep him for as long as we can. The front desk is always very warm & accommodating also. I recommend this place to everyone.
Tom Conner is the best! I hope he gets paid top $$$. Pleasure to work with!!
I am very happy with the service provided me by Cheri DeLong. I'll be back.
I've been using them for two years and honestly, I've never been met with kinder service anywhere. I regularly work with four different staff members for business and personal taxes and accounting. Shockingly cheap for how much they do for me. I have a lot of anxiety around making everything right with my taxes and they have made me feel welcome to call or come in any time with questions. Someone even offered to mail my daughters letter to Santa this year! Every single person I've worked with here has been
I have been going to Cheri DeLong with Don's Tax Service for a couple of years. She is THE BEST! She goes above and beyond to make sure you understand everything about your taxes, and gives awesome advice on how to be set up for success the following tax season. She is so personable and sincere. You can see her passion in her work. If you're looking for someone to trust with your tax information, Cheri is the one to see!
Amazing customer service. They knew I was from 2 1/2 hours away, night shift worker and did everything possible to get me an appointment that same day. The most AWESOME staff, very knowledgeable and willing do that extra for their clients. Thank you and I'm so happy to be back with Jackson Hewitt!
Very helpful and so nice to work with. Ecxellent Service
Speedy service, helpful receptionists, reasonable pricing. Thank you.
Bruce Ashland and his staff are awesome!
We were new clients, 5 mistakes were made, tax return still not received after 14 weeks, no communication when I asked questions, and return will be less then what I have documented from the accountant. Still waiting for our return. My biggest concern is how we were treated through the process. We have very basic taxes ??. Paid way too much for this service and they were not concerned at all.
I enjoy the professional treatment in a very comfortable environment. I am so glad I started with them 2 years ago. Hats off to Jen at the front desk!
My fianc? used Dons tax service/Jackson Hewlett, they messed up the direct deposit information. My fiance called to try to get it resolved the manager would not return her calls, employees refused to help out. Asked to speak to the owner Bruce Ashland whom was in the office at that time, was denied to speak to him as well. Then was pretty much told it's our problem not theirs after paying these people nearly $500. We will never be back to Don's or any Jackson Hewlett.
They are awesome! They answered my questions thoughly And professionally. I'm new to town and they directed me to other folks that could help me with other needs! I will continue to go back to them!! Thanks alot guys!!
Great customer service!
Cheri was very helpful, patient and honest with me regarding my complicated tax return

Cheri is a great resource. Very helpful
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
