Customer Reviews

Jeff, Leonard and his team have been preparing my personal and business taxes for over 10 years now. They have always been super friendly, knowledgeable and extremally helpful. Never any hassles, they always take my calls and answer any questions or concerns I have. I cannot convey how much I appreciate all that Jeff and his team have done for me over the years. I have recommended them to all my friends and business associates over the years. If you want excellent service with no worries give Jeff a call.

We have used Heights Financial Services to prepare our taxes for the past 9 years. Jeff, Leonard, and their team are always responsive, courteous, and most importantly ACCURATE. We have always received good advice regarding our tax returns, and have never had any issues with the IRS. As a Canadian Expat, it?s important for me to feel confident in my financial tax filings, and that is what I have experienced with Heights Financial Services.

I have been going to Heights Financial Services for about 3 years to get my taxes done and it has been the best thing for me! When I started my own business I had no clue how to file my taxes on my own and many people recommended I go to Heights Financial Services and I am so glad that I did. They explained everything to me about my return and helped me in every way possible. My whole family has started going to them and I recommend them to everyone I know as well! If you are looking for a tax accountant th

My husband and I have been getting our small business taxes prepared by Leonard, Jeff and team for nearly a decade now based on recommendations from family members who have had their taxes prepared by the company's founder Leonard since the 80's. Jeff has always been extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Their newest team member, Reygan, is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Not only is she competent and professional, she maintains professionalism even in the most hectic circumstances, which truly blows me away!

I have been a client of Heights Financial Services for more than 9 years and Jeff has always done a fantastic job on my business taxes. Jeff and his team are superb at providing quick and accurate filings on my behalf. I wouldn't trust my taxes with anyone else but Heights Financial Services.

If you value your time, money, & sanity, go somewhere where the staff is competent and values your business. I experienced very, very poor professionalism. Had to follow up frequently, and hardly, if ever, received any call backs to my messages. At one point no progress was made until *I* called to check on the status! At the very least they waived their fees, but I never will do business here again.

I went to Jeff and Heights Financial a few years after doing my taxes most of my life. They were professional and handled everything nicely for the first year. However, every year they filed my tax returns, I received notices from the IRS stating I had under reporting (2017, 2018 and 2019). I would forward every notice to Jeff and team for resolution and they would promise me they would handle it and that the mistake was with the IRS. Today (2021), I still have outstanding balances due and just received mor

Heights has been handling my taxes for about 20 years without any issues. Both Jeff and his father are great to work with. I highly recommend using them for your financial service needs.

I have been working with Jeff ro prepare my personal/business taxes for several years. The service is always on time and very efficient. His advice on how to handle planned expenditures has also been on target. I recommend HFS and plan to continue to work with Jeff in the future.

Hiring Jeff has been one of the best business decisions I have made. Having my accounting details handled professionally by someone who is personable and cares about my life has been empowering. Highly recommend.

I just love the staff at Heights Financial Services. They are all helpful and treat theirs clients like family. Lenard and Jeffrey are the greatest. They have been doing my taxes for years.

Jeff and his team are great! Had some issues with the IRS and they took care of it on top of my business taxes . Would recommend to any one !!

Thank you "again" Jeff and Leonard Kasowski for such great service and done fast! I know this is a busy time for CPA's but they took the time to go over my return in person and answer any questions I might have. It was so nice to have a personal experience and not just be given the return and say here you go and that is it. Very professional yet a personal interest in my filing. Thank you! See you next year!

I have been using Heights Financial for many years! They are efficient and have a vast amount of knowledge. I have been impressed with everyone I have dealt with there. I highly recommend Heights Financial.

I contacted this office years ago from a random Google search regarding amending my taxes, in which another company was handling. I don't remember the name of the person that I spoke with....however, I do remember that he was extremely patient and took his time to explain the rights and wrongs of the tax preparer I'd hired. I look forward to meeting this team in person for the next tax season.

I?ve been using these guys for over 20 years. They are available all year round and have helped me tremendously with my finances / taxes. Jeff and Leonard are Very courteous and professional.

I found the finically service to be outstanding and very efficient Jeff is extremely professional He was attentive to all detail I felt he is the best Financial advisor I have ever used I would highly recommend him and his office for all tax and Financial service

Jeff and Leonard have help with some difficult planning issues for all of our family and their advice has been great on many issues. Will continue to recommend them to friends

Jeff & Leonard have been both very knowledgeable, helpful and professional with all of our financial needs and concerns. I love them and recommend them regularly!!

You ask a question, they respond then when you use them they forget to make a note about it but do remember the conversation-But still get very upset and become very rude. It?s sad when we didn?t do anything wrong and they react that angry-but I?m at peace no matter how ugly they reacted because God see?s everything.

Excellent notary service, really gentle and professional, definitely will bring my business again.

Excellent accountant! Couldn't be more pleased with the services.

Very unorganized and does not communicate in a timely manner...no thanks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
