Do NOT recommend using Hollis CPA as your accounting firm. They have horrible communication skills, will charge you premium prices for every single little thing, never discussed ways to save or help with tax deductions, and also filed an extension for our tax returns without our permission or without notice because his wife had surgery. Then upon telling him we were moving to a different state and needed help with transferring our LLC, he told us we would have to find another CPA to help since his services
I used Cameron for personal as well as my wife's business taxes. Cameron was quite unresponsive which was frustrating to say the least so I decided to move away from them starting with the 2022 tax season. Turns out, in addition to being unresponsive, Cameron made a number of mistakes on my 2021 personal taxes. Just received a notice from IRS and those mistakes are going to cost me in penalties and interest. I'm curious to see how he responds to this review.
I've been using Hollis CPA for over 3 years. He does my personal and business taxes. We have been really happy working with him. He and his staff promptly respond to emails and phone calls. They are also great about reminding me to file the things I need to keep my business compliant. A lot of people who have experience and are good in the industry seem to act like they are too busy to help the clients that have been with them for a long time. Cameron has always been patient and helpful with me He di
Cameron Hollis has been my CPA for about 5 years and he is excellent. I even followed him from an office near my home in South Austin to North Austin (he is that good!). He and his team, including Kiersley, are very responsive and helpful. Cameron provides great guidance, support and advice and is extremely knowledgable and personable. Thank goodness I have them supporting my tax needs and keeping me on track as a small business owner!
We were first introduced to the Hollis CPA firm by a trusted friend and wow are we glad we listened. Everything you want in a CPA when you have to do business online. Reliable, quick, and did I mention explains things in laymen terms. We especially love the detailed answers and how fast they get back to you! Bravo for a great service. They still have hardworking CPAs nowadays! We've used them for a few years in a roll and don't see us going to anyone else! Thank you and highly recommend them. Troy and Tina
Hollis CPA firm is thorough and does a phenomenal job at preparing one's taxes properly. They are undeservingly patient with someone who needs to provide more information and are highly professional. I would recommend them for your tax prep needs!
I have been a client of Hollis CPA Firm since becoming a solopreneur over 5 years ago. They provide exceptional service, clear communication, and prompt responses. My husband and I primarily work with Kiersley, CPA, and she recently resolved a complicated and urgent issue in a very timely manner.
Cameron Hollis has been my CPA for 4 years , he is the 1st CPA to ever get me a tax refund! I?m self employed and I thought I had to pay every year no matter what. I will never go with any other tax professional ever again. Thank you Cameron !
Hollis CPA Firm helped me set up my new LLC, and file my tax returns for the past couple of years. They did a great job! Very knowledgeable and provided great customer service!
They recommend something when you aren't exactly sure what you are getting into, end it's costs me thousands of dollars. Also I requested a refund return in hopes of getting a mortgage loan , they never replied to the loan officer and since they aren't getting any money from me anymore, they aren't ever going to assist in getting tax documents I've already paid for. I just moved into a place as a roommate and I couldn't find any of my hard copies. That's why I needed their help. I would suggest getting anot
I have been with multiple CPAS, sometimes long term. Like, a decade long-term. They sent me up faster and taught me more about running my business and doing things more effectively than anyone else. I'm a touring musician and sometimes people don't know what to do with me. They have it down to a science. Honestly, it has taken the stigma away from taxes because they prepared for me for them, got me on quickbooks, and made sure I'm in the best financial shape of my life. go to them. Affordably priced, grea
I have used Cameron and his team for my personal and client taxes for several years now. They are personable, helpful, responsive and very knowledgeable. Just the best around!.
What a pleasure to work with Cameron at Hollis CPA Firm. Very professional, knowledgable and personable. Overall great experience.
Cameron & Kiersley are absolutely amazing! I appreciate their guidance and help with all of my tax situations. Highly recommend!
They were highly recommended by a friend...stop by the office and spoke to the front desk person who informed me that they are not taking any new clients for the 2020 year and if I needed to file an extensionfor tax preparation that they would be able to assist me with that...which I found to be odd however I did not speak to anyone regarding their services, just enquired of their services
Was referred by a local attorney to Hollis CPA, I called and left a message for someone to contact me and also emailed asking the same. No response. Not sure how people stay in business that don't call people back.
Great firm to work with. Cameron and his team have done a great job with our taxes for years.
Always impresed by the knowledge and experience of their staff. I trust them with my personal and business taxes...
They are always polite and quick to respond.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
