Mark and his team do a fabulous job on the personal and business side of taxes. They stay on top strategy and make complex tax tactics streamlined and easy. Highly recommend!
My accountant of 10 years (one person shop) decided to become apart of Hunt Jackson a few years back. I went from working with someone who I really respected, and felt valued my business to a company who did not. During the initial transition I was told that things would look relatively the same...I could keep the same recording systems, prices would be roughly the same, and of course level of service. As a small business owner of 20 years, these things felt important to me. What unfolded over the last
My wife and I have been very happy with Hunt Jackson over the past three+ years. Specifically, it has been a pleasure working with Mark Canton. Mark is knowledgeable, responds quickly, and is efficient. We have a few rental properties, so we wanted someone that specialized/had a lot of experience in real estate. We also have a property in CA that Mark is able to help with and file CA State Returns along with our Federal Returns. Thank you, Mark, for all your help filing our returns and answering our plethor
I?ve done my taxes here for the past 4 years and have saved literally hundreds of thousands in taxes/over a million dollars in taxable income write offs through tax strategies such as cost segregation and bonus depreciation on commercial real estate. Mark Canton has filed all of my returns and spearheaded all of this work. My returns are hundreds of pages long and involve 8 entities. Mark and his team were able to file my taxes EARLY this year so long as I actually got them everything they needed on time.
We have used Hunt Jackson for the past two years in preparing our personal returns. Their timely, professional service is well-appreciated, which we ensure by providing our documents well before the filing deadline. Based on our experience, we recommend David, his partners and team.
Worst service, fails to complete tax returns, but doesn't tell you until after the tax deadline. Prior to the deadline assured us taxes were near complete, but going on extension and would be done early May. Mark Canton knew we were looking for an investment property and needed the returns completed asap. Checked in mid-May requesting a status update after hearing nothing in early May as promised. Then Mark Canton, CPA, became infuriated that we asked for an update and now refuses to file any of our taxes
We (Lucid Inc.) have been working with David Pagryzinski and the team at Hunt Jackson for 8 years and it has been a fantastic experience. Having had a previous CPA where we struggled to get clear answers and understand our options, the experience with Hunt Jackson has been the exact opposite. We would highly recommend working with David and the team at Hunt Jackson.
As a full time real estate investor, Mark Canton and Hunt Jackson have gone above and beyond for me year after year, helping me along the way. Amazing planning, knowledge and communication. My wife and I could not be happier with the amazing results and people at Hunt Jackson.
If you are in a room with me and I hear you mention needing a CPA I will drop what I'm doing and coming running over to tell you all about Hunt Jackson and my experience with them. I describe them as "Tax Wizards" although I've been told that that is not their actual title. I am self employed and David has helped me tremendously throughout the years, knowing how to restructure my withholdings as my business grows. When I stare at him with dead eyes he knows to speak in laymen's terms, as I am not well-vers
Unfortunately, I wish I could recommend Hunt Jackson. They decided to cancel our contract as they don't have enough staffing to even keep their existing clients. We now have to spend thousands of dollars onboarding to a different accounting firm. If you are looking for a long term accounting partner, know that Hunt Jackson may cancel your contract any time.
I refer many of my estate planning, probate and trust clients to Hunt Jackson, and specifically to David Pagryzinski, because they are friendly, professional, reliable, and ethical. I can always depend on them to give my clients helpful and practical advice. They are a sophisticated firm with a neighborhood feel, which is the ideal combination.
In my former career, Mark Canton of Hunt Jackson preformed accounting services for several of my clients. All reported positive experiences with Mark and his team. Mark was also very responsive to my requests and a great resource.
This is only the second negative review I have written in my life. If i could give them zero stars i would. They lied repeatedly over the course of our engagement, agreeing to a fixed fee and then doing everything they could to double it each year. At the end of my rope we finally had to part company and they took almost 4,000 more dollars to file my last tax return. said they did it and months later i found out it was not accepted by IRS. They never told me it was not filed. When IRS said I had to pr
This year is our first year working with Roen Ako at Hunt Jackson and we have to say the experience was amazing. Roen helped us to file taxes for two of our businesses and our very complicated personal taxes. During the process Roen helped to correct some issues with SEP allocations that our former CPA did not let us know about. And did this with empathy and a level of professionalism that I have been missing in my accounting world. Roen also worked seamlessly with our bookkeeper to make the process as easy
My family and I have been clients for 4 years now, and have always been pleased with the time and attention we get from David and his team. I have also referred many of my clients to David and his team, knowing I am putting them in good hands for their tax planning needs.
I?ve been working with Mark Canton for two years and he?s helped structure my taxes for real estate loans while keeping the tax bill low. Highly recommend to any business owner or real estate investor.
Fantastic business. Can?t say enough good things about them. They?ve done my taxes for a couple years now. Mark has saved me tens of thousands of dollars. He knows more than any CPA I?ve used before. Very down to earth. Great to work with.
Mark Canton is my CPA and everyone on his team are great
The administrator lady who picked up the phone was not the best customer service
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
