John helped my husband and I file our income taxes very efficiently-we were finished and out the door in 30 minutes! John was also very courteous and friendly. Would recommend him to family and friends!
I recently had the pleasure of working with John for my tax preparation, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with the level of service and expertise provided. From start to finish, the experience was smooth, efficient, and stress-free. First and foremost, John demonstrated a deep understanding of tax laws and regulations, ensuring that every aspect of my tax return was handled accurately and in compliance with current laws. His attention to detail and meticulous approach instilled confidence in me th
John Burns and his staff have exceeded our expectations for the past 3 years. Their expertise in tax matters is evident from the very first conversation. His attention to detail, prompt responses to calls and emails, and willingness to explain tax concepts in understandable terms have greatly eased our financial management burdens. He also sends business financial programs to me throughout the year for programs I wouldn?t know otherwise. What truly sets this office apart, however, is their genuine dedicati
These guys have done my taxes and payroll now for a couple years. John has really helped me get my taxes and business organized. It used to be a huge mess before I met him. Really trustworthy, would recommend to anyone! 5 stars!
I regret to express my dissatisfaction with the services provided by the tax accountant, John. In my professional opinion, there have been significant organizational and competency issues observed during our business engagement. It appears that he may be overwhelmed with his workload, as evidenced by challenges in maintaining accurate client records. Efforts to establish communication with John have been met with difficulties, as he seems unreachable by phone and email, unless prompted by signs of frustrat
I wholeheartedly recommend Burns and associates to anyone seeking reliable and expert assistance. With his exceptional knowledge, responsiveness to emails and phone calls and personalized approach, he has undoubtedly earned my trust and gratitude. Thank you, John, for your outstanding service.
The worst service ever. They promised me 3 days working in my taxes, and I called several times, and they hanged off the phone, never answering me. I was waiting for 22 days when John said I should wait 3 days. When they were offering me the service, they answered the emails and phone calls really quick, but once they caught me, they had 0 communication. I went to the office to pick up my documents and he said that If I wait 15 min he could finish it, I said NO and when I gave me back my documents it were
Had a great experience with my taxes today. John is really efficient and friendly. Got a great refund for 2022 and with an amendment, got more for last year. I highly recommend his services.
First, it seems Mr. Burns is obviously embarrassing himself by making thinly veiled attempts to mitigate the damage done to his business by bad reviews. He is pretending the reviewers are not his customers. This can be seen on other one star reviews where he says ?We have no record of this person, blah blah bah.? So, since he?ll surely do that to this review, too, I?ll describe him and his office to demonstrate that I was, in fact, a customer of his: John is a paunchy guy, greying hair, with a slight count
We have had Clemmer & Associates complete our personal taxes for over 5 years and have had an amazing experience. Linda and her team are personable, share our options with us, let us know what we can expect with our return and keep extraordinary records. They are on top of the tax changes. I would not go anywhere else!
John Burns is my accountant for my personal and small business needs. Recently, I brought my dad in to do his taxes. His patience, and kindness with my father was impeccable. His knowledge to quickly resolve an issue was well thought out and appreciated. John always answers all my questions so that I fully understand any given situation that I come across whether it be in my business or my personal accounting.
I can?t say enough good things about John Burns and Clemmer & Assoc. I?ve received excellent service and knowledgeable help in all tax related areas. They helped me to start my new LLC and are taking care of everything from sales tax to payroll for me. I?m able to concentrate on sales and growing my business without constantly stressing over making sure all the business tax issues are being handled properly. I use them for my personal taxes as well. I highly recommend them to everyone I know.
In response to the owner's comment about not having record of me: You just called my husband today asking for me to take down this review, so you know exactly who I am. I wasn't going to leave a comment initially and just let my 1 star review speak for itself, but since you just called and tried to incentivize my husband with a full refund of last year's taxes (which i asked for last year and you refused--convenient how youre offering now...maybe since it was my husband that you spoke with today?), I think
The most unorganized and incompetent tax accountant I?ve ever done business with. This man is in way over his head and cannot keep his clients straight. He is unreachable by phone and email until you show any sign of frustration. My most recent, and last, interaction with John was so unprofessional that I?m in disbelief he?s still in business. Our taxes are probably as simple as it gets, and he couldn?t even get that right. Steer clear if you?re looking for a seamless experience when getting your taxes done
I love seeing John for my Taxes! He is very thorough and efficient! I have been coming here for 13 years and have always been satisfied! Would 100% recommend coming here for all your tax needs!!
I contacted John Burns about 8 months ago concerning a tax matter that needed an experienced CPA. I was updated when needed. Mr. Burns worked to get my situation resolved and I?m am extremely satisfied with the professional service and advice I received. Mr Burns will be performing all my CPA work from now on. I could not be more pleased with the service I received.
Clemmer and Associates has been doing my taxes for 31 years. They are excellent. I have never had any problems with the IRS when they received my tax return. You can count on them to take care of you.
John was very attentive through our whole tax preparation process. He answered all our questions and made sure we always knew next steps. Would highly recommend him for your taxes!
Very very professional, called him on a Sunday to get info on certain things I could do on my LLC called me back the same day within the hour on a Sunday! Highly recommended.
I have been coming to John for my tax work for the last two years. He?s very thorough and always helps me understand my return and looks for opportunities to save in taxes.
I was directed to John in 2018. He has been awesome with both my personal and business taxes as well as assisted me in obtaining all the business associated paperwork during the pandemic. I couldn?t recommend him more
I experienced an issue with my tax refund this year. I called them to ask if they would look into it. It only took about a week before they were able to get back to me with the answer. Everything was perfectly fine! I like using their services when it comes time for tax season!
Whether you have a large company small private owned company or personal needs Clemmer and Associates will help guide you through all needs! Tax issues is no issue for them. Old or new they can help you through! Highly recommended!
We switched to John last year for our taxes and we have no regrets. Very personable and easy to work with.
After having two bad accountants both whom went to prison, Clemmer and associates cleaned up the mess I was in and kept the IRS at bay. I have been using them since 2008 and have had no problems. They handle my business and personal taxes.
My husband and I have been seeing John for our taxes for years. He?s experienced and friendly, and he takes the time to make sure he?s doing right by us.
Clemmer & Associates are doing all the little things right within their business and for their clients. I would recommend them to anyone - especially as a resource to small businesses for tax planning, accounting or even consulting assistance!
One of the associates of this company refused to do my simple tax return!!! Her reason being because she didn't understand how I took care of my children the prior year with such a little amount of money I had made, after embarrassing me because my children and I do not share the same last name!!!!!! This is the most absurd and unprofessional thing I have ever encountered!!!! I was sent there by a person who recrommened, however I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Neither of us will be going back nor wil
Mid America Piering has been using Clemmer and Associates for over 18 yrs. and we are extremely happy with every aspect of their service. You can not go wrong with this company!
I believe that John was very swift and efficient on my taxes, i believe i will continue working with them.
Do not waste your time going here. This is the second year in a row I used this company and had multiple issues. No one pays attention to details, even though you provide all the relevant info and no one cares to return your calls no matter how urgent. Save yourself the trouble and fine someone else.
A friend recommended me to get my taxes done with john and it was a good experience.
You would do well to go elsewhere for tax preparation services. Sent 2 separate emails asking their interest in preparing my annual taxes. They totally ignored my inquiries and NEVER responded.
John did a great job doing my taxes! Fast and efficient!
Fantastic CPA to work with on both the business and personal side. I highly recommend. Fast, friendly and proficient.
This place is great! They have gone over and above my expectations ....they are very well organized and made my life so much easier with my multiple businesses. I Would definitely recommend them to business owners and individuals.

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
