Customer Reviews

Jack & his team are fantastic! The helped me through a complicated return and answered all of my questions. Very happy with their service and how they engage their clients to explain everything. Highly recommend Jack, Mark & their entire team.

Called and spoke to a guy named Mark about business entities and he was so helpful. He recommended I do a single member LLC and he even took the time to talk to me about self employment tax. Never made me feel like I was taking too much of his time. Great guy.

Jack has been helping me with my taxes for 15 years. He is very helpful in making sure we get the most out of our deductions. Very friendly and professional. His process is very efficient. Takes the headache out of dealing with personal tax situations. I highly recommend him as a resource for filing tax returns.

Jack Perkins and his team did my taxes this year and I was very happy with the level of customer service provided. Both Jack and Mark took the time to meet with me and answer questions to make sure I was comfortable with the process. I highly recommend them.

We are in such good hands with Jack Perkins as our accountant. He has been our sole source for tax needs for over 15 years. His knowledge of the ever changing tax laws has saved us money and helped us prepare for the future. His integrity and personal approach are always appreciated. The flexibility of making appointments and the pleasant office staff are icing on the cake. Thanks again!

I did my own taxes for many years. When we moved to Raleigh from out of state I had a complicated multi state and federal return and knew it was time to find a CPA. Jack was the only CPA that had sent out a personalized intro letter to us as new homeowners, so I made an appointment. Jack did a great job for us and earned my trust as a client.

My dad used Jack for his filing needs for years when retired so, when he passed, I went to him because of my dad's recommendation. Now I go to Jack because he has found ways for me to save on my own taxes, especially with inheritances. I can go to him according to my schedule and no matter when I've called, I have received an appointment within the week. Jack is very personable, knowledgeable and reasonable.

Jack has done my taxes for almost 10 years! Jack is extremely professional and organized. He is knowledgeable of the most current tax laws and provides excellent advice. Bottom line, working with Jack gives me Peace of Mind!

Mr. Perkins has been my family?s CPA for the past 3 years. He is professional, trustworthy, has an answer to any questions, responds promptly and has always been on time. We feel completely at ease having him handling our taxes. I recommend his firm to anyone looking for a CPA.

Jack and his team provide a fantastic service. They have always been amicable, professional and timely. We were never left wanting or insecure about our filings, definitely worth the investment.

Jack Perkins is a very proficient and knowledgeable CPA. He?s very thorough and well versed in the latest tax laws and tax planning. I have relied on Jack Perkins to prepare my personal and business tax returns for many years and the accuracy of his work speaks volumes.

I have been a client of Jack Perkins for a few years. They have given me amazing service and attention to detail. They are all about the customer. I used to file with the electronic systems since i thought i did not have much to declare but when i decided to give Jack a chance I ended up with a bit more money.

Jack and Mark are always excellent with their customer service. Informative, fast answers. They provide a wonderful service. They provide a plethora of knowledge- they?ve helped me set up my business finances the past two years and I?ve learned a lot. Highly recommend.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE. AVOID. Jack was exceptionally rude, provided no guidance or advice, and set up my refund to be mailed rather than direct deposit as requested. When my state refund was lost in the mail they provided no assistance in fixing the matter.

Jack has done our personal taxes from 2001 and our business taxes from 2008. He is the most professional individual that we've had the pleasure of dealing with in our career.

I have been using Jack Perkins for three-plus years now and his knowledge of tax laws and tax saving suggestions have been very helpful. He has also been very helpful in answering any questions I have year-round, not just during tax season.

I decided to give Jack and crew my business and it was such a relief. Taxes may not seem like a big deal, but they are time consuming and I am glad I don't have to do them myself. They know every piece of paper that I need to collect for them. Great team.

Jack is the best! He has been completing my taxes since 1991. Very knowledgeable and professional.

Jack and Co are awesome for all your tax needs, makes everything as easy as taxes could possibly be and goes over everything to make sure all your bases are covered. Couldn?t recommend more!

Jack is an amazing tax CPA. Office is ran efficiently, and is very organized.

Very knowledgeable and honest CPA! We will be using him again and I would highly recommend him to anyone I talk to. Thank you Jack Perkins!

Jack is organized, efficient, knowledgeable, and has reasonable pricing. I have used his services for years and highly recommend him.

Excellent. Mr. Perkins is a very through and conscientious individual. Don't vist if you're looking for some young guy wearing a costume a waving a sign on the corner

Priced very well and pleasant to work with. Definitely using again. Thanks

Over priced and over-rated. I didn't have the same detailed and in-depth service everyone is raving about.

Would not go to anyone other than Jack!!

The best place in Raleigh!

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
