We moved from NC and needed someone who could conclude our taxes there and handle our taxes here - personal and small business. John has done that for us. He and his staff are very knowledgeable and professional. We have experienced timely processing and very reasonable pricing for the services. We have and will continue to recommend his firm.
I hired John Folson to do my taxes and we agreed on pricing for taxes. I called him one day to ask him a question about an accounting software and he sent me a consultation bill without warning me that the call would be considered a consultation call and that he would bill me for x amount. I have called him in the past and he has given me answers to my questions without charge. This caught me by surprise. I didn?t sign or agree to a charge/rate, so I didn?t pay it. Now he?s coming to collect on a charge tha
John and his staff have served our tax needs for several years. We have had consistently excellent outcomes with their work and highly recommended.
I am so grateful and lucky to find John - Stop looking around and call here - don't waste your time somewhere else - trust me. Excellent service. I went somewhere else first and that CPA, did not compare to John - service wise. I also called 4 other CPAs and John responded the quickest. John is professional, he cares and is a real person, that will work with you and listens. The other CPA's cant even pick up the phone and didn't seem to care as much. John is the Bomb 4 real. Nice guy, smart and pleasant.
This is guy is unethical and the biggest douchebag I've ever paid for a service -- truly disgusting, gross and highly unprofessional. Also -- more importantly -- he's a liar and he has zero integrity. He's an egomaniac... and he acts like an angry baby when you confront him about his refusal to verify his own CPA letter to your mortgage company . He literally screamed at my loan officer on the phone and condescended to her about mortgage law, all while refusing to acknowledge anything he wrote and submitt
I am so glad I followed my intuition and contacted John. Not only did he deliver what I needed within hours, he was highly knowledgeable and professional, but most importantly ETHICAL and selfless. If you are thinking about working with him or hiring him, DO NOT HESITATE. Amazing guy. Professional. Knows what he is doing. Gets the job done in a timely matter.
Hands Down, No Questions asked, BEST CPA IN FLORIDA! John has been a pleasure to work with, when given a task its taken care of quickly and professionally. Communication is great, Customer service is top notch, prices are fair, if only other companies could run so well. Very Satisfied.
I have been trying to find a competent and efficient accounting firm to handle my business accounting for the last year but have had no luck. I found this place by doing countless google searches for accountants that specialized in small business accounting and I couldn?t get an accountant on the phone only a receptionist with unreturned phone calls. I called this firm and explained to the receptionist what i needed and she matched me with John and he delivered on exactly what I needed. I highly recommend J
I needed help with income verification for mortgage purposes as I'm self-employed and John was not only extremely helpful but also quick to respond. Managed to purchase my house successfully. Thank you John
John Folson have always provided outstanding Tax services to me and continue to ensure my taxes are completed accurately and timely each year. His entire staff provide an environment of outstanding customer service!!!! Best CPA on the Space Coast!
We were applying for an HME license and needed a CPA to complete some of the paperwork. The first CPA we chose did not produce a document that satisfied the state's requirements. I got in contact with John Folson and he was able to provide the information we needed in a very short timeframe and our license was approved!! I highly recommend Mr. Folson for anything related to AHCA!
I am self employed and was in need of a cpa letter for a mortgage. John was prompt and very helpful for a fair price. I?ll be using again for any future cpa needs. Thanks

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
