I want to give "ZERO" stars, but can't post without giving 1. I've had a HORRIBLE experience with Joyce. I have paid her $5000.00 to date, and absolutely nothing has been done. Since June of 2022 (it's September now), I engaged her in tax work. Not only has this work not been completed, but she refuses to respond to emails, phone calls, or even faxes I've sent to her office. At this point, my only recourse is legal action, since she has basically stolen my money for services she simply never completed. DO N
I hired Joyce Rebhun a couple of years ago. When Joyce first met me, I had my granddaughters with me. Not only did Joyce help me with my IRS situation , Maurice and Joyce were so kind to my grand children. Normally people shunned away from kids in a Professional atmosphere, but not Joyce or Maurice. Joyce gave all my little granddaughters a gift. I was not expecting such kindness along with their professionalism and expertise in all IRS matters. I recommend Joyce Rebhun to all my friends. I hired Dr. Joyce Rebhun to resolve some very serious tax matters that came about through no fault of my own, but for which I was being severely harassed and victimized by the IRS. She immediately put a stop to that, proceeded to defend me in Tax Court, and prevailed in all matters on my behalf. I found her to be extremely professional, competent, effective, personable, and committed to my case. I have continued to use her services yearly to prepare multiple tax returns, none of which have ever been audited
I have had nothing but good experiences having Joyce handling my taxes. She has always completed my tax matters in a timely manner & has also represented me in an audit where the result was $0 in additional taxes!
Dr. Joyce and Maurice were incredibly supportive, responsive, efficient and caring in handling our cases. I am grateful to have met Dr. Joyce as she always had a way of putting my mind at ease and keeping me informed and calm through the process. I HIGHLY recommend her in any tax matter and feel so grateful to have found her office to help us. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!! VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS WOMAN I engaged JOYCE REBHUN to defend a personal and business audit. She required $11,000 to start, and this was a lump-sum to cover my case from its beginning stages to its culmination in Federal Tax Court. My troubles with this woman began when her response to emails often took days to weeks, and, frustratingly, her responses did not address the questions contained in the emails...which required another email and another unacceptable lag time. I was in Escrow waiting to sell property; the Escrow Company found a state income tax lien against my account in excess of $15000; I had filed a tax return and had paid all taxes; I could not understand why there was a lien against my account. Joyce Rebhun solved my problem; she worked very hard; the false lien was removed against my account. I was very pleased with her efforts on my behalf. F ghomi
I saw Joyce Rebhun's ad in the LA Times about 5-6 years ago and saw her to do to my taxes. I was quite satisfied with her work and continue to seek her for tax preparation. I have referred her to friends and they have also been quite pleased with the results. I recommend her highly.
I have hired an attorney to address the malicious, false and vindictive remarks that have been posted on the internet by Dr. James Issacs. If these false remarks are not removed on or before April 12, 2014, my attorney will file an action against Dr. Issacs in Los Angeles Superior Court for damages in the amount of $ 1 000 000 arising out of the defamatory comments Dr. Issacs has disseminated on the internet which have caused injury to my business and profession.. I was amazed by the two more negative rev
I was audited by the IRS recently and it scared the heck out of me. I have run a business for 20 years and we try to do the right thing but when it comes to the IRS you never know. Anyway we went in to see Joyce Rebhun and she handled our audit with out any problem. My wife and I are so relieved thanks to Joyce. Craig Santa Monica
I have been using Dr. Joyce for more than 20 years. Very good service. Always remembers your personal information. The best. The same for Mr. Ghomi. So whatever you see that is negative, it is a fake post, because it does not match their personalities. They are the best!!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
