I?ve trusted John and Matt Molle for many years to handle and manage my taxes each year. I can count on Matt to ensure my taxes are filed accurately with every eligible deduction being considered for my family, and also filed on time. Their communication and breakdown of my tax situation each year is super helpful, including guidance and recommendations each year on how to improve my tax situation going into the next year based on what they uncover. They are fantastic to work with!

This was first year filing with JRM Financial. We had been very happy with our previous accountant for the past several years but the practice closed. So, in a pinch we needed to find an accountant and we hoped to find another firm that was fast, courteous and whom we could trust. We found all of that and more in John & Matthew at JRM Financial. We are very pleased with the service, online flexibility and pricing for our returns. We will definitely be back next year! Thanks, again, to John & Matthew for mak

Highly recommend JRM for top notch accounting and tax filing services!! We have been using JRM Financial Associates to file our income taxes for 4 years now since moving to Hunterdon County. Specifically, working with John (owner) and Matt (his son). Upon My first conversation with John to find a new accountant once we moved, I knew JRM would be the accounting services firm for my husband and I for years to come. John and Matt are compassionate, patient, and understanding. when it comes to customer service

Efficient, smart tax preperation. These guys helped me restructure my company to save a lot every year with taxes. I recommend their services.

Our family has used JRM for over 10 years to handle both our personal and business taxes. John and Matt have always been responsive and available for advice not just during tax season, but during major events like purchasing a home. I also appreciate the streamlined online system to share documents with them.

JRM does exceptional work. I?ve used them for the past two years to do the taxes for myself and my business. After a bad incident with my former accountant I was wary, but John and his team were friendly, affordable, courteous, on time and made the process as simply as possible. They really know what they are doing and take all the stress out of tax season. Couldn?t recommend them more!

Matthew was great to work with, got me a great return, was very professional and the whole process was easy.

We use JRM services for years now and it's always been a great experience. Both John and Matthew are wonderful, describing and explaining the process. Highly recommended!

JRM is unreliable and unprofessional. Only trust them for a return that anyone could do with TurboTax. First they extended completing my return - I get that, it's a busy time. Then they were completely MIA for 6 months despite following up, until I got an email in October that my return was ready. Can I schedule a meeting to review? No, because it was the absolute last day to file. Instead of downloading bank information to Quickbooks, they downloaded as .csv files to bill more hours preparing the data. I

Matt and John are honest and incredibly knowledgeable in their field. We have been using their services since 2020 for our personal taxes and now that we are venturing into starting a business they were our first call. Matt spent time on the phone coaching me through some best practices moving forward and what we can expect with some new life changes. These guys treat you like family and make a not fun thing like paying your taxes much more tolerable. We are extremely thankful for their service and would re

First time working with JRM. Matt did a great job.

Just like most busy people I waited until last minute to do my text. One email to JRM and they got me an extension and took care of everything. As a self employed captain they got me the most deductions so I owed as little money as possible.

John and his team have been incredible!! They are professional, gave us great advice and made taxes for ourselves and a small business easy. We highly recommend their services.

Awesome team. Have used them for years. Quality job every time. Very personable. You feel good working with them! Would recommend 100%

John and Mike of JRM are super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. It feels nice to work with a firm who knows me by name, and cares not just about my business, but me as a client!

I had a nightmare dealing with John Molle and JRM. He couldn't complete my taxes on time even though I gave him my info in early February. He would not return my phone calls or emails when I needed to speak with him. After becoming suspicious with John I searched with the state to see if he is actually a CPA. He is NOT a CPA according to the state website. Very upsetting.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! If you contact them they will reach out to you right away and ask that you send all of your information. Once you do that you will be ghosted for months. I reached out to them by text, email and phone but never heard back. I was running up against deadlines and they simply didn?t care enough to respond. Do not waste your time. These guys are very unprofessional.

Timely, professional and modern. I would highly recommend JRM Financial for your tax prep !

JRM saved me thousands this tax year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
