Zero stars if It was possible. Had a brief phone call conversation with Russell Rivera, he is a mortgage broker at this company. I have to admit he's very knowledgeable, yet ignorant. Instead of asking questions about what I wanted to develop and what resources I currently had. He continue to immediately talk about how I wouldn't qualify, how I had no experience in building, how I wouldn't get approved because of this reason and that reason. But he did not ask who I was related to and what developers I had

We completely trust and highly recommend the team of mortgage brokers at KAL Financial. Right now we are finishing up our second refinance with David, Jeanette and Karla, and both experiences have been wonderful from start to finish. As our loan officers, they have always been very attentive to our needs as clients and very thorough in finding us not just a great mortgage, but the best mortgage from the best lender at the best rate. We are careful with our money, especially when it comes to our home, and th

I liked everything about using David to close my loans. I refinanced 6 properties all at the same time and David got it all done for me. I have used him before in the past and will always use him. He communicated with me as needed. David always gives me the best advice and everything he says I trust. For me, David is the best loan officer. I always recommend him to anyone needing help.

This was my first home mortgage transaction. We had checked out 12 other companies before selecting KAL. Why? We liked the rates and felt that they were more trustworthy. Karla was awesome. She kept us informed throughout the process. Also, she provided good information and updates. When she didn't know the answer to a question, she got the info and called us back. I recommend Karla and the team to anyone looking for a smooth mortgage transaction with excellent rates and customer service.

We had the BEST experience! Our refi just went through a week ago and we are so happy! The whole team is amazing - including the notary and appraiser they used. We went from struggling to get a company to do our refi to getting back more in our cash out than we thought we could while also keeping a decent rate. I will recommend Kal Financial to everyone!! Fully trust and fully appreciate all the time they took to help my family.

Top Service. We relocate out of Germany and had nothing. No SSN, no banking account, no credit history. Ryan and his team made it work so that we after 2 months were able to close escrow and own our new house in California. Kal Financial is a great partner to work with. Thanks!

4 Stars This was not my first time using David. The last 2 times my loan was tricky because my home went from owner occupied to a rental. This made it more difficult compared to a normal refinance. The staff was very courteous and easy to talk with. There was a few times when it had been forgotten that this was a rental property, so I reminded them. We closed on time which we were pleased. I have recommended others to David.

In this day in age praise for stellar performance and service comes few and far between, and it seems people take the time to complain more than expressing acclaim. I am taking some of that precious time to write a letter of thanks to David Lawver and KAL Financial regarding my latest refinance with them. I had used David Lawver about two years prior to refinance my home loan and had nothing but great results from him. I knew that if I ever needed to refinance again, acquire another mortgage, or consult wit

I had the experience of working with David on a several purchase loans for our clients. There are a lot of mortgage lenders for us to choose from but His rates have always been competitive and he and his team strive to close on time. David is an exceptional mortgage lender and sharp business person

5 Stars This was technically my second time using David. We first used him in 2011 to purchase our home. This last time we refinanced it. David provides great service and he was very accommodating to my requests. I also received great rates each time. I recommend them to other folks, and happy to recommend them to people I know. I will not hesitate to use him again.

Al Financial is very friendly, easy, quick, and painless. Completely hassle-free process, the entire process was very smooth and fast, a 11 days closing is highly appreciated, As first time home buyers, we were completely ignorant of what things should cost. At first we went with a different mortgage company, but soon lost faith.They were able to get us a lower interest rate, lower closing costs, better home owners insurance, and very low loan origination fees. We felt as if we could (and did) call any ti

My experience was extremely stressful with kal financial. When we first came to meet with David he seemed very attentive and helpful and on top of everything. Once we were deep in the process it all changed. The person working on our file "called in sick", and never responded to another email. When we contacted kal financial for updates (after writing a stern email cause my two prior emails were ignored) we were given a new person of contact. We were asked to send in forms we had sent in weeks before and i

David and Ryan really did a great job arranging things for us. My representative, Annie, was also very good. She was always prompt in getting back to me and we enjoyed a highly cooperative arrangement. Though my loan came down to the maximum time limit to close, they kept a close watch and made sure the timing worked out correctly as promised.

I was recommended to Kal Financial through a friend so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed, and boy were they right. I had so many questions never having done a home loan before, and David provided answers to everything I asked in a way that I could easily understand. The customer service was amazing, and for something that most people wring their hands over, my wife and I went through with little to no stress at all. On side note, I was very impressed with the Kal Financial website as well. Their site is mu

My daughter is having a terrible experience with Kal Financial. She had 2 closing date appointments and they cancelled both. KAL will not give her a date now and is asking for more info which is a surprise because they were all completed as of 10 days ago. This has caused both emotional distress as well as financial. They sound great, have all the right answers and smiles but don't seem to back it up as professionals.

This was my first time using David and his team. I was referred to them by my realtor. For me the most important thing was for the loan to be finished in my allotted time. It was. I received my weekly communications and a great rate. My only disappointment is that my loan did not have an escrow account set up before closing. I will use David again and I will refer them to others.

i have the privilege of working with David for close to 7 years now. His level of professionalism and his knowledge of the loan and mortgage business far exceeds most professionals that have been in the business for decades. David will cater to your specific needs and help you find the best solution for your current financial situation. If you are looking for a hardworking, knowledgeable and trustworthy professional, David definitely fits the bill.

Introduced to KAL by a realtor. To be honest I am not sure at the very beginning whether they can get my case down or not but it turned out that they are really dependable in dealing with difficult loans like mine. And they are also very good at keeping the timeline -- I have to close the transaction in less than 30 days since I will be traveling out of country and they really got this done by the last minute. I really appreciate everybody's hard work on my loan.

I have done a few refinances through Kal Financial and this might have been the best yet. I received the lowest interest rate I could find as well as the most helpful and responsive staff throughout the process. My rate is now so low I may never refi again, but if I do I would most deifinitely do it with David and Kal Financial

4.5 Stars I have used David before. I was told prior to using David that he gets the work done. He is knowledgeable and he does get the job done. As with the lending industry during the past few years it can sometimes take longer than we like. However, as I said David and his team got it done for me.

Untrustworthy, highly unprofessional, poor communication, lack of integrity and full of false commitments. I don't have enough words to tell how bad our experience with Kal Financial and Daniel Chalk in specific. I sometimes wonder if they are even a legit company. Stay away at all cost.

TLDR; don't bother with their services, they are just there to rip you off and they delay and cause stress in every single step! Unprofessional, Inefficient, Disorganized, Irresponsible I interacted with one Rob Pavley who by far is the most unprofessional, unethical, inefficient, irresponsible, horrible mortgage broker, who at every step caused issues and pain. To start with, When my wife and I met Rob, who came highly recommended from my realtor, I felt he was going to screw us and mess things up. Howev

I had a great experience working with David Lawver. David was always very quick to respond to any questions that I had and was very knowledgeable about the different programs that were available for my specific situation. I would recommend David to anyone looking to purchase or refinance a home.

I have used Kal Financial on 2 loans in the last 2 years as rates have gone down. I now have 3.5% on a 30 year fixed. They keep my information so when the rates are right they have alot of the needed information. I also think they have a good team.

If you want a company with innovative ways to get you the loan you want or need... these are the folks. I send all my clients to them and never feel like I need to be concerned with the way they will be taken care of.All there questions are answered in a timely manner and with complete courtesy.I would highly recommend giving these guys your business. Kal Financial is tops!!

Working with Kal Financial was a great experience! Everyone was soo helpful and did what they needed to do to help me get my home! The whole team made the process super easy for me!

This company is terrible! Stay stay stay away! Super high fees, understaffed, and completely incompetent. They over promise and under deliver every step of the way. When I tried contacting our lender 3 different times in one afternoon, his assistants said he was out of the state on business, out to lunch, and in a meeting. Lies lies lies! I normally don't write reviews but feel that I would be doing the public a disservice if I didn't let them know. Take your hard earned money somewhere else and put it

I have done a couple of loans with other companies/banks but none have been as helpful and fast in getting my loan completed. David's team was professional and courteus. A special thanks to Maddy(***** 5 extra stars for you) for being there every step of the process.

5 Stars David?s team is great, helpful, and very professional. David is nice and friendly to talk. It's a good service. This is my 1st time home buyer, they helped me to meet my goal. Absolutely I will recommend them.

I had great experience with everyone I dealt with at Kal Financial. All my questions were answered and everyone was very knowledgeable and I felt comfortable throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend Kal Financial to any seeking loan or refi.

I received weekly update phone calls and timeline emails. This helped my wife and I to stay informed of the process. We have already recommended KAL Financial to our friends.

```+ I am very pleased with the service at Kal Financial and agent, Scott Hunter. They managed to lower my monthly mortgage payment. I am happy with the outcome and the service provided.
They are super responsive and keep you informed the whole way. No hassles with these guys and I have used them twice, once for an initial mortgage and once for a refi. They are also really responsive after hours, I have found, which is always a plus.
What I liked most was the fact that my loan officer was always available, responsive and responsible. There was good communication. I am already recommending KAL to others.
Very professional, friendly, efficient and stayed in communication throughout the process. My second time to use their services and I highly recommend the team. Have worked with Daniel Chalk each time.
Kal Financial did a great job with my Refinance. The processes was quick and painless.
Great experience with level headed professionals not looking to just "close another deal." We felt cared for and appreciated.
Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
How do I find a CPA in my area?
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
How can I verify a CPA’s license?
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Can I work with a CPA remotely?
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
How often should I meet with my CPA?
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
