Again, thank you so much for all your help! Ken did an awesome job and I hope the IRS never decides to re-open my case! I'm sure you feel the same way! Sorry I wasn?t able to retain you for 2024! :-( Thanks again and I really appreciate the miracle you pulled off! Sincerely, Paul P.
Ken is my financial personal trainer! He keeps me on top of our financial obligations and goals. He's encouraging and supportive at times that I might want to throw up my hands. He keeps a good sense of humor amid difficult conversations. I cannot say enough good things.
I have used Ken for years after my brother referred me to him. I never really thought much about the value of a good CPA, but now that my taxes have become more complicated with a business and a couple of buildings, I have grown to really appreciate the value. This year, I thought I would owe money and Ken actually got me a good refund that more than covered his fees. He also is willing to accommodate my last minute filings (I am down to the wire every year!) and my less than perfect bookkeeping style. I
I had an amazing experience with Ken. It was my first time working with a CPA that I didn't have to chase down to get my taxes done. Michelle is absolutely amazing and told me everything I needed to do to be ready for my appointment. I will be using them to help me with my book keeping for my business, and will definitely be back next year!
I've been relying on Ken's experience and knowledge in all things tax related to help me handle my returns every year since 2020. He works very fast and even if I am not always as organized or detailed, he does a great job asking me more questions and getting all the info in line for the IRS. I'm glad I found Ken and hope to continue working with him for my future tax needs.
Ken has done my taxes for a couple years now. He is diligent, ask the right questions, and is detail oriented. He patiently responds to my questions and concerns and is great at what he does. I would recommend him to a friend.
My family has unique accounting needs as we have overseas income and property and my husband is a Green Card holder. Ken was remarkably prompt and thorough in his handling of our filing. He asked thoughtful and intelligent questions, listened to our concerns, and had our return done quickly and efficiently. We have total confidence in his abilities and plan to use him for many years to come. Highly recommended.
I've used Ken for my last two tax returns. He is very efficient-he gets my returns filed within 24 hrs of dropping off the paper work. He has a very precise and no-nonsense approach to getting the returns done and getting a maximum refund. He's also responsive to questions throughout the year.
We've worked with Ken for three years now, and he's been able to handle the thorniest tax issues (mixing W-2 with freelance, working on home office deductions, finding every possible fix for our exceedingly complicated finances). He's patient and thorough, and works very quickly. Would recommend!
I contacted Ken very close to the tax filing deadline. He was agreeable in working with me and tried his best to get my taxes filed before we needed to request an extension. I was the one who slowed us down. Not Ken. He was alway very patient with me, honest with me, and a true professional. The added bonus was Jennifer his assistant. She was so supportive and understanding of why things took so long with me. She was compassionate and made me laugh when I really needed it. Yes, it must have been quite frus
I was looking for a reputable and reliable accountant to assist me with my personal taxes, and I?m glad I found Mr. Ken Rapoport. He?s extremely prompt, diligent, and works with various esteemed local businesses. Whether you need help with your own personal taxes or for your small business, Mr. Rapoport is an expert in his field, as he?s been in this industry for many years and is up-to-date with current regulations. He?s also extremely kind and a pleasure to deal with.
Ken and his entire staff are very kind and professional. We had some bad experiences with our previous preparer, and we are fortunate to have found Ken as accountant for our growing business. He is very thorough, competent, and efficient. He also educated me on managing my books and finances. I plan on using him for all our accounting needs. I highly recommend him!
Ken has prepared our taxes for several years now. He?s fast, thorough, and always makes a stressful time feel less so. He?s also helped tremendously since I transitioned full-time freelance writing?navigating complicated expense categories, etc. This past year, we made a big move out of state, which is always stressful. But Ken made the tax part easy and smooth?it was a relief to have one area of the move go so swimmingly! Thanks as always, Ken. See you in ?23! :)
Wish I came here sooner. I have been searching high and low for an Accountant I can trust. I did my tax return elsewhere and felt like I needed a second opinion and also needed help with my small business. I felt so low having already gone to other Accountants that quite honestly wasted my time (and money). The minute I met Ken, he said he would help me right away. In a week, he got everything taken care of and worked through Father?s Day weekend. I felt so much relief. He is quick to reply with emails and
Ken is the best in the Tax business! He goes above and beyond whatever I could have imagined I could get out of my experience with an accounting firm. Ken is the perfect example of grace under pressure. Even when dealing with many clients at tax crunch time, he always makes me feel like my needs are first on his list. If you are self employed or run your own business, do yourself a favor and call Ken to get your taxes in order or be your advocate to help in dealing with the IRS. I highly recommend Kenneth
This CPA is very unprofessional and unfair. He wanted all the work done in terms of giving him all the calculated numbers so that he can just plug those in to his system. I explained to him at the beginning that I was a single member LLC but his still charged a ridiculous amount for labor that he did not do. I?ve been trying to personally speak with him for a while now, but every time I call I?m told by his assistant that he?s on another call and that I can reach him by email. He never completed my taxes. T
Ken is credible, passionate and performs his work with a high degree of integrity. Ken is professional and very responsive. He is knowledgeable with individual and business tax returns. If you need a CPA, Ken is highly recommended.
We began working with Ken and his team in 1993 when we set up our USA company (as a subsidiary of our UK operations). Ken was endlessly helpful and guided us through the financial and tax rules that affected us in Illinois. Although most of what we did was simple enough, it was great to know that we could call Ken's office whenever we needed extra help or just a "sanity check".
Mr. Rapoport has helped me and my family with their tax returns, regardless of whether they were simple or complicated. He is worth every penny. He has helped us maximize our tax write-offs as well as coming to our aid, especially when it comes to dealing with the IRS. He even told me where I went wrong when I attempted to set myself up as a corporation, along with willing to "clean up the mess" I inadvertently made. From now on, I will consult with him whenever I have the funds to set up a new business. He
Fan-Tastic! Nothing less than... Is how I can best describe my experience sitting, across the desk from Ken. I arrived anxious, fearful... "lost" might be a better way of saying it. Burdened with bundles of files. He welcomed me. Heard, understood my dilemma, and reassured me: "Don't worry. It's not that bad. All will be fine. We'll just take it a-step-at-a-time. Let's have a look." So it went. Communications were clear and direct from the get-go. With his Admin Assistant, every so often, checking-in, conf
KPR: They've Got Your Back! I'm happy to share what a helpful and positive accountant (and person!) I have found in Ken Rapoport, CPA. He not only provided QuickBooks files for when they prepared my tax returns for my business, but when I changed to being an SCorp, he took the time to explain to me the differences between being an LLC and an SCorp: In terms I could easily understand. And he let me ask as many questions as I wanted, which was a joy for me, as I like to learn and understand. You won't get se
His entire business model is a scam. He targets first year business owners who are gullible enough to sign his contract whether they need him or not and somewhere it must say he can charge you whatever he wants whenever he wants. Then if you have anything to say about it, he threatens you with litigation. He made up hours and invoiced without even tracking said hours; just an amount on a fancy sheet of paper. I was charged for services that had no benefit or bearing to standard operations within the company
Ken was able to tax my complicated tax issue with multiple states and irs and fix them very promptly! A life saver, he greatly helped me. I will be going back to him for any and all future CPA and tax needs!
Used him for my 2020 taxes and I plan on doing so again in 2021 (and beyond!). Perfect for anyone looking to max out their returns and also cover themselves throughly on all tax matters (personal, business or otherwise) He's well worth the money! Super responsive and highly professional.
Ken and his team were kind, warm, straightforward and calming. They helped me with my tax needs easily and I would absolutely work with them again!
Low per hr rate however took much longer than what he originally advised with different excuses, once I asked him to just shut down the project suddenly he was already done and did not need more time, my advice is do not hire unless is a flat fee or he will drag on your project, also never was able to provide outlined invoice on exactly how the hrs he charged us where allocated, any professional cpa should supply without asking. Advise hire flat fee only!
I do not recommend going here. I was looking for a long-term CPA, but I just met a con. He requested I sign an agreement and place a deposit before he started the work. But I never did either of those, and he charged me for his time anyway. He never replied to my emails regarding this. If you're want to have a bad time. Please contact Ken.
Ken Rapoport is an excellent accountant. He spends time with his clients and offers sound and helpful advice. I highly recommend him. I have been a client for over 15 years.
Pay attention to the negitive posts its been years but all those posts were all too familar. Be very careful or even just stay away save yourself the aggravation. He seems knowledgable but fair and honest with billing is questionable. Like ive said I left years ago and a new accountant had me all cleared up quickly shop around dont get desperate find the right guy ..I was desperate and frightened by Irs notices and he certainly took advantage of that situation...and ive not forgotten
My experience: A local tax attorney, the Illinois Department of Revenue, and two certified public accountants resoundingly agreed Mr. Rapoport violated The Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices while engaging in deceptive practices, failure to meet contractual duties/responsibilities, and billing abuse
Very responsive and knowledgeable! Pleasure to work with.
Very thorough and knowledgeable. He followed up at all hours of the day and night and truly knows his stuff! Highly recommended.
This guy will offer a ?free consultation? but beware, it?s not really free. He will still charge you afterwards. Does not follow through on his word. Stingy.
So blessed to have found Kenneth. Excellent work and a very kind and friendly support staff.
Provides great service!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
