I have worked with Ian Eisen from Kolodziej Eisen & Fey for the past 5 years. He has managed my personal and business taxes as well as my business payroll. Ian is very knowledgeable about tax laws and changes, he is attentive and quick to respond with any questions I have and has taken the time to ensure I understand. As many others have commented in their reviews, I also started out with a different accountant who I did not trust was as knowledgeable or attentive to my business needs. I have felt confident
I have worked with this firm over the past five years. They handle my business and personal tax and accounting needs. Kathy and her team are fantastic to work with and they have always provided solid advice and guidance. I highly recommend this firm, and I look forward to continue working with them in the future. You guys are the best!
Ian has done an absolutely outstanding job of taking care of me since I first started asking him to assist with taxes ~6 years ago. Not only is Ian personable, kind, and understanding, he is incredibly thorough and responsive. Every time tax season comes around I feel overwhelmingly confident in Ian's ability to process my return quickly, with zero errors, and with the maximum refund possible. I would unequivocally recommend Ian and the Kolodziej Eisen & Fey firm to any and everyone!
I have worked with Ian Eisen at Kolodziej Eisen & Fey LLC for the past 5 years. He has prepared State and Federal tax returns for my wife and myself, as well as for my late mother. These returns included itemized deductions during most of the years as well as investment income and business LLC income and expenses, therefore involving multiple forms and schedules as required. The firm provides very helpful organizer forms to allow me to provide the data needed for the filing of the returns. We have held
Ian Eisen has been my accountant for 5 years now, managing my business and personal tax and corporation obligations. Initially, he competently and empathetically corrected problems from previous accountant errors. Thereafter, he has consistently provided direction and feedback to best achieve my financial goals. Ian replies quickly and explains tax issues & laws clearly. He is a pleasure to work with and can be trusted completely to ethically and professionally support any type of business, large or small.
I've been a client of this firm for over 15 years. When I took a second job that issued me a 1099, I tried to do my taxes myself and thought I would have owed a considerable amount of money. I sat down with one of the partners, and he asked me a lot of questions that were not covered by the tax software I tried to use. It reduced what I owed down to almost nothing! I've used them ever since, and have recommended my friends and family go to see them. My sister had similar results when going from doing them h
Ian is great to work with: thorough, knowledgeable, and prompt. I use him for both my personal and business tax planning and returns. He's helped with strategic planning and advising me on the latest tax laws. Highly recommend for either personal or business tax needs!
My experiences with Kolodziej, Eisen, and & Fey LLC with Ian Eisen has always been courteous and professional. Ian has always been responsive to my financial needs, taking the time to provide support and guidance anytime I have questions. I would highly recommend his professional services.
I have been with Gary and now Ian for over 20yearsThey are Extremely professional and attentive. Rosa is excellent in helping me with all the QB reports and Dental software reports and much more. Paula has most friendliest voice, when you call them. Highly recommend using them for your accounting needs!
My family has been using Ian w/ Kolodziez, Eisen and Fey for our tax returns the last few years. Fantastic work. Quick return. Would highly recommend them to anyone for their personal returns.
Not a fan of this company lately. I was a client of a company they bought out 4 years ago, from my former accountant, whom had passed away. I had a good relationship with my former accountant for years. I recently turned 65 and my financial planner had a few questions for Kevin Rumbaugh, who did my taxes, as to tax implications for next year. He calls me, and rudely states, well if they have any other questions, I?m going to have to charge you. Really. Why I get nobody works for free, it was a few questions
If you struggle with income taxes, these accountants are your solution. I have been relying on these folks for years and love working with them. They are experts in tax preparation, efficiently and accurately completing my tax returns. And so responsive, I can email them a question and have an answer that same day. They are the antidote to tax anxiety!
I can?t say enough about Kathy Kolodziej and her team (particularly Donna). I?d made a serious judgement error in trusting another CPA, and in the 11th hour called (the day before taxes were due) Kathy and my amendments were completed by the next day! Donna (who prepared my taxes with Kathy) was professional and succinct, but she also really listened to me and put my mind at ease. I truly couldn?t be more grateful. I?d ABSOLUTELY recommend this CPA group for any of your tax needs, which they?ll be more then

Great firm! We have been with them for about 15 years. Ian handles our personal and business affairs and does a great job. Fast turnaround when needed, also!
These guys are the best when it comes to helping navigate the sometimes confusing world of taxes. Kevin has gone above and beyond for my company, keeps in touch throughout the year and I highly recommend them! Keep up the good work.
Ian Eisen for me has been nothing but upfront, knowledgeable, professional and extremely thorough. Ian thank you for your assistance in completing my tax returns so quickly, I really appreciate you and how painless you make this for me.
Always a great job with both business or personal taxes. We had to suffer through an audit, and the firms accounting and representation made it less painful. I highly recommend their services.
These guys did first class work for me on my taxes. Prompt, knowledgeable and polite. If you don't want IRS entanglements, K.E. and F. can keep you in the clear.
We work with Kathy and Mary to do our corporate taxes, and they're awesome. Always responsive; extremely knowledgeable; friendly. Highly recommended!
She's great. No complaints. Has worked through a number of tax issues seamlessly.
Mr. Fey has always been very professional and helpful with tax preparation.
Very happy with both their quality of work and our access to ask them questions as our young business grows.
Gary and his team have taken care of our family for years. Fantastic experience.
Highly recommended, been using them for years!
Great people! Very helpful and convenient
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
