Laura Barwick and her team are professional and extremely knowledgeable. We have utilized their business for our personal and business taxes, estate opening and closings, estate planning and the sale of a business. They are more than just a tax firm. I highly recommend them for all your accounting needs and much more.
I have no choice but to write this bad review regarding this CPA firm. Hopefully, they will have better transparency for future clients. We picked this firm based on reviews and being close to where we live. Our taxes are straightforward. W2, part time self employment and (2) amended taxes from last year. I usually prepare my taxes but went to a cpa for future tax preparation. I spoke to administrator Nancy months before and was quoted a price. After delivering our taxes in the middle of January, they were
My family has been dealing with Laura for over two decades and have received the best service. She was instrumental in planning and handling my father's estate. My father absolutely adored Laura for her straight-forward approach and tenaciousness to find the best way to meet her client's needs without using questionable methods. Laura and her staff, having been watching over my personal affairs, several family members, friends referred, and our two family partnerships. The entire office is committed to doi
Horrible communication. When we first came to Barwick, my husband and I were both working W2 jobs. However when he started his own company, Barwick?s office seemed to disappear whenever we had questions. Even if we contacted them multiple times it would take weeks if not months to get a response. They also caused us to miss important quarterly deadlines telling us to check in the following quarter in regards to our business taxes. If you own your own business, look elsewhere for help.
Highly recommend Laura and her team when it comes to handling your accounting needs. They are knowledgeable, efficient, and truly take the time to explain things and offer guidance. Carl in particular was great at communicating with me throughout the entire tax preparation process!

Thank you Laura for all the years that I've been with you Carol
We found Laura to be very professional and knowledgeable. Her fees were a 'bargain' compared to other firms we've been with. Definitely recommend them.
Laura Barwick's firm has served our company in the most personal and professional manner during the past 15 years. We highly recommend Ms. Barwick's firm.
Laura Barwick has been serving my family for over 20 years. Laura and her staff are dedicated to their work. If you or your business need a CPA, give Laura a call!
I wish I could give this company zero stars. This is bar far the most unprofessional company I?ve ever dealt with. They are late, they lie, highly unprofessional and will make completing your taxes hell for you. I gave them my tax papers in March and they were not completed until the end of October and were still incorrect. They promised me week after week that they would be completed the following week?. All lies! My other family members are still having discrepancies and have to have them redone by a diff
I am very pleased with Barwick CPA. Laura is professional and her office is well staffed. I trust her completely and I?ve never been disappointed. I highly recommend this firm.
I have been a client for years for both personal taxes and corporate taxes. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable and competent accounting service.
Working with both Laura and Dan was such a great experience. They took the time to explain things and also took a special interest with me. I highly recommend this firm for both tax and bookkeeping needs!!
We have used laura for our tax?s for 20 years. She has been very patient with us as we are older and her prices are extremely fair.
I have received excellent service from Barwick CPA with their vast knowledge of tax prep and other accounting services.

Expert small business tax advice and preparation.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
