Customer Reviews

We?ve been clients of MacTax for several years and had always been satisfied, but this year, things went completely off the rails. We sent in all of our tax documents well ahead of time and got confirmation that they received everything. But then? radio silence. No estimate of what we might owe, no info on our return, and no next steps. We had to follow up ourselves on tax day, only to be told our taxes hadn?t been filed and they would submit an extension. We agreed, assuming they?d follow up soon after.

Called to make an appointment and Sarah picked up. I told her I wondering if they had availability for the next day and was LAUGHED AT and said "are you kidding me?", followed by multiple "no's" with no explanation of why. Incredible customer service?

I've been getting my taxes done by the Mac Tax team for the past four years, and I love the team. I came to them with a simply inquiry and they even brought me out to lunch to discuss it with them. Mac and Shirley are both very kind and treat me like family. I will continue to use their services for years to come and I strongly recommended them to others as well

Karen and the Mac Tax team are amazing! They have been supporting me and my family with our taxes for several years, and each year has been a wonderful experience! I highly recommend Karen and the Mac Tax team for your tax needs!

If I could give zero stars I would. They came highly recommended so when we showed up to our appointment and the office was locked and no one was there we figured it must be a mistake. The following year, we made a phone appointment due to covid and were blown off again. Then AGAIN. Then finally had our call with Mac and he told us everything was good and taken care of. Months go by and still no refund. I call the office and somehow they think my husband's name is something other than what it is, they tell

Terrible customer service. Was recommended by a friend saying they was the best..that was a lie...Wish you could give them 1/2 a star...will never have my taxes done at this place again. I paid my amount in full that I owe to them to do my taxes. Every single year they email me saying the same thing. That I haven't paid the amount that was due. I show them proof and screenshots of our conversation that I had with the accountant. The accountant confirmed that I did paid it in full. Forward to this year 2022.

Year after year the crew at Mac Tax always go above and beyond for my family. They Prepare three sets of taxes in one sitting while we chat and catch up over the last years activities. The knowledge of everyone there cannot be topped. They are ready for every scenario we throw at them and as long as they are in business they will have a life long customer with us. The next step is getting IRA's set up for the kids future! Thanks again and we will see you all soon!

The Mac Tax team is fast, efficient and makes the process painless. I have recommended them to several friends that own businesses, its a relief to know you can refer them and know they?ll do a great job.

I've been going to Mac for years, It's always been a good experience. Every one at Mac Tax is very friendly, they remember you, (even though they only see you once a year) and you always walk away feeling like your sensitive information is in the most professional, and trustworthy hands. The best compliment you can give to a professional service is a referral, so i tell every one about Mac.

Thank you MacTax for always giving me a clear understanding of any and all changes that happen within the tax year. We don?t always get the best news or the biggest refund we would all like to receive at the end of each tax year but I am grateful to have Marco by my side. Call him with any questions you may have just to help you better understand where YOU stand financially. I always feel better prepared for the following year or when he sends out the notices of any changes that happen within the tax laws.

Mac has been saving me for 20+ years. He takes the pain out of paying taxes and can be depended on to get them right. No smoke and mirrors with Mac. His expertise and ability to explain or justify actions with regards to taxes is exceptional.

Mac is the only person I?d trust with my taxes. I have the peace of mind everything is being done right. Everyone there is friendly, professional and accommodating. Highly recommended!

I've been going to Mac Tax for years. Would recommend them to anyone I know. Mac and his team have always been exceptional.

My visits always a huge relief. I never feel rushed or pressured, and never feel I am overcharged. I am paying reasonable fees for truly expert service. 'll my questions get answered.

Great experience. Speedy/high return as well as laid back atmosphere at his new office.

This place doesn?t let me down. I recommend them to friends and family. Very helpful and willing to take the time you deserve.

Always first class service. Won't ever go anywhere else.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
