Marcia is very friendly and loves to talk, and she told me all about her family, family antiques, her RV loving friend, etc at our mandatory introductory $200 meeting to drop off the tax planner I filled out. I don't own a business. It cost over $1000+ to do my taxes. Every brief phone call and text is charged. I found another CPA who looked over my documents and 2022 return that Marcia did and said it was very basic. My new CPA said she could do my 2023 taxes for around $275. I learned a lot.
I had the pleasure of meeting Marcia, a CPA, today, and I was thoroughly impressed by her expertise and warm demeanor. She possesses an in-depth understanding of tax laws, accounting principles, and financial strategies, making her an invaluable asset to anyone seeking guidance in these areas. Marcia's knowledge is truly remarkable. She explained complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, ensuring that I grasped the intricacies of the subject matter. Her ability to simplify complex financial matters i
I have known Marcia for years & she has done my tax preparations for the past 20+ years. Not only is she a great friend, but she definitely is a great CPA. I have never had a problem with any of my returns & will continue to use her as my personal CPA. I highly recommend Marcia, she definitely knows her business. Marcia is very thorough with organizing & handling tax situations. I have had some tough issues concerning returns, that I surely couldn't have figured out, but Marcia has always had the answers fo
I am highly recommending Marcia Van Norman, CPA for her knowledge, assistance, candor and efficiency. I had filed my "sole proprietor" tax returns for 4 years with the initiation of my business. I felt confident that I would not have any difficulties and would not receive any issues from the IRS. To my surprise and dismay I did receive an audit on my 2015 tax returns. I tried to take care of this myself by sending a rebuttal to the IRS, however their return letter was worse than the first notice. This l
Basic fee for Federal and out of state tax return was $600. Upon review of the completed form, asked three simple questions via email. Also questioned why some of the detail provided did not appear to be properly displayed. Charged an additional $150 to display the detail and $300 to respond to our email. When approached about the email cost, Marcia said she had to help other clients and left the room. The agreement we signed does explain that if we present additional information, that additional fees w
I am highly recommending Marcia Van Norman, CPA, for her knowledge, professionalism, candor, and patience while she was assisting me with my taxes. I had completed and filed federal taxes independently as "sole proprietor" since 2015.I felt confidant that the information I sent to the IRS was accurate and complete. I had no apprehension that I would have any difficulties with my tax return for 2015. In late 2017 I received a letter from the IRS regarding my 2015 return. I tried to resolve this by myself,
Worked with Marcia after a confusing and complicated tax year for me. She not only handled my unique situation with kindness and professionalism, but has me set up for a successful 2020 tax season. I can't recommend Marcia Van Norman enough for all of your needs, you won't regret choosing her.
Marcia went above and beyond for my family and I. I was supposed to be receiving refund on an amendment. She filed this on a timely manner and got kick-back stating that they did not receive it on time. She then went out of her way to make sure I got my refund. From this experience, I would not use any other CPA other than Marcia Van Norman.
I highly recommend Marcia for tax preparation, She is very competent, trustworthy and organized. She knew exactly what needed to be done and gave us peace of mind. She and her receptionist are friendly, courteous and pleasant to do work with.
I have know Marcia for 5+ years, both personally and professionally. She is very methodical and organized. She has a wonderful personality. Marcia is extremely knowledgeable in the area of taxes and tax preparation. Give her a call...she'll be happy to help you.
She took $300 to help me with my business needs. She said all of what she would do. She did nothing. I contacted her several times and she sent me a registered agent form that I had already ended up finding myself and submitting before she had responded. Claimed that is what cost $300.
Beware of this CPA - she is not knowledgeable in all areas and will not tell you until it's too late. She forced me to pay for 2018 tax return CPA fee before she would give to me the return and when she gave the return on 10/15/2019, it was incorrect & had to employe another CPA to correct and pay additional late fees and another CPA fee. She refused to return any of the fee I had paid her. And of course, the fee had to be immediate transfer via Zelle without any recourse.
I've interracted with Marcia Van Norman, CPA, on many occasions relating to my Austin bankruptcy practice, & I've referred many accounting & tax clients to her with fantastic results. I highly recommend her.
Marcia Van Norman CPA exceeded all my expectations for my 2020 taxes. She is a straight shooter, well organized, and extremely prompt.
Preparing for April 15th each year became an overwhelming and foreboding task. Marcia's guidance has helped us to organize, simplify, and maximize our tax return. Thank you Marcia!
Not competent at all. Asked for payment upfront and lied every step of the way about progress. She said less than 6 months to complete and it took over two years to find out that she didn?t know what the hell she was doing. She didn?t complete anything. Horrible communication and dishonest You?ve been warned. STAY AWAY!!!
She's straight to business, very professional. Saved us 5 figures in taxes this year. Will definitely use her again. Thanks again Marcia.
Marcia Van Norman is an excellent CPA. We have used her services since we moved to Texas and are completely satisfied.
She did not disclose her price, 400 more than I paid last year, and when we denied the amount she stole $150 using my credit card that I did not authorize her to use. DO NOT USE HER, she will try to rob you.
My family and I have been with Marcia for 5 years after an accounting chain had botched two years of taxes. Sound advice, never a problem.
Great CPA to work with, well trusted. thank you so much for your help.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
