He takes the time to explain complex tax matters in a way that?s easy to understand, and his attention to detail gives me complete confidence in his work. Whether it?s tax planning or filing, I always feel like I?m in good hands. Excellent service from someone who truly cares about his clients.

We have been doing taxes with Mark for years and he is worth every penny every time! Thanks for the great Service and expertise!

Mr. Steichen has vast knowledge of tax preparation & tax laws, and he will take care of any IRS & State tax questions promptly. He is amazing regarding how quickly he is able answer and solve Federal and State tax letters and inquires. A five star rating is not high enough for Mark, he deserves a 10* rating! Steve Kline

I have been using Mark for three years to file personal business taxes. He is absolutely great at what he does; making sure the filings are done efficiently while answering any questions I have. I really wouldn?t trust my numbers and taxes with anyone else! I highly recommend Mark for your accounting or tax needs.

I should have believed the reviews regarding Mark's complete lack of communication. We had an in office visit and seemed like he knew taxes really well. Sent him all of our personal information and data and now its been 3 weeks and no word from him. Left countless voicemails and emails and no response. He is extremely unprofessional and I would absolutory stay away from working with him.

Complete waste of time. Scheduled an appointment and went down to his office with all of my records to discuss ongoing tax needs for personal/businesses. Mark seemed like a nice guy and who knew his stuff. I overlooked a red flag when he proceeded to put the wrong year and misspelled my name on an important form, which if I hadn't caught the wrong date it would have cost me significantly. Mark had me rush to transfer $ to make IRS payments before deadlines but failed to respond to emails, calls, and voicema

Mark simply terrific. He actively listens to you, understands your specific needs, situation and then tailor his product & services accordingly. Mark knowledge and abilities are exceptional. But we all know, Taxes & accounting principles could be stressful. Mark provides the Complete Solution Package allowing you to breath with confidence. He is humanity, sensitive understanding, and non judgmental approach to his work is exceptional. I am very grateful for Mark, and strongly recommend him.

Taxes are always stressful, but Mark puts everything at ease. I've gone to him for the past 5 years and he's always pleasant and has my best interest in mind. I actually look forward to doing my taxes because he's so nice to talk to as well. Highly reccomend!!!

Mark has an ample amount of knowledge regarding tax laws/objectives and their applicability. He was professional, timely, and a great resource for my difficult tax situation. I would recommend him to anyone looking for tax advice or preparation services.

I'm a new S-Corp. Mark helped me not only fix all my issues, but set me up to win in 2022. He even went over our allotted time so that he could finish what we started. I'm grateful to have found a trusted partner to help me navigate this new venture. I highly recommend his services.

DO NOT USE HIS SERVICES!!! After meeting him he promised quick turnaround and even took our personal tax documents and made copies. I should have known better, his office is a mess/dump with documents all over the place. I have left countless voicemails and emails with 0 response. I have asked her dispose of or send back our personal documents and still no response. I should have believed the negative reviews he has received. I highly recommend you stay away from his services.

I filed an S-Corp online via Inc-file in 2022 and for whatever reason the online filing service did not send in my S-Corp Election letter to the IRS. This would have created massive issues with doing my taxes this year. However Mark not only got that resolved but also filed my 2022 S-Corp Tax return with ease.

First Impressions were bad? office was messy, Mark was not not dressed professional with buttons open so stomach was showing. Then he never returned several phone calls and when I was finally able to get him on the phone he had no reason for not returning calls. Made apt to pick up paperwork and then he wasn?t in his office at 11:40 on a weekday!!!

UPDATE: Mark reached out to me after my negative review and apologized for the lack of communication. He was able to work through my 2021 and 2022 taxes and provided me with the amended returns for filing.

Mark has been an integral partner and I highly recommend him and his CPA services.

I signed over power-of-attorney to Mark Steichen and couldn?t get in contact with him for 25 days. After writing a 1-star Google review: he contacted me within an hour and took care of my needs over the weekend. He?s hard to get in contact with, but once you have his attention: he knows exactly what he?s doing.

Mark is a very knowledgable and professional CPA. He takes care of all the Tax work for me and has been fantastic. Very polite and goes above and beyond.

Mark is excellent. I have used him for many years and always feel like I receive great personal service and well done tax services. Highly recommended.

I really don't know where my business would be without Mark's help. Very knowledgeable, intelligent, experienced CPA with great morals. I Highly recommend.

I've been coming to Mark for 17 yrs now it's the best at doing taxes . And very friendly ??

Mark disappeared with all of my 2019 paperwork and never responded multiple phone calls and emails. BEWARE! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

Mark is a very good CPA. I would recommend him for taxes or whatever you need.

Mark is awesome. Super friendly and helpful.

Mark is BRILLIANT with taxes!

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
