Matthew Accounting has been a very important part of our tax preparation for 16 years. Excellent customer service, updated user friendly filing resources and 100% confidence is so important. Their attention to details with supporting documentation is assuring every year. Thank You!
Matthew, Kelsey, Jill and the rest of the team have been very helpful and responsive. I began using their tax and accounting services nine years ago and I am very satisfied with the results.
Matthew has been doing my taxes for about 10 years. I have been very pleased with his staff and their professionalism. He is very helpful all year round. If I have a question about anything financial during the year he is always willing to answer them. I would highly recommend!
The team at Matthew Accounting has taken care of my taxes for 15 years now. I am always happy with their work. They take the headache out of filing my taxes and are also available to answer my questions year round. I would recommend them highly to anyone!
There are only positive things to be said about my experience with having them prepare my family's taxes. Jill was really great at facilitating my setup as a client and was very quick in responding. I knew that tax preparation with the added Covid-related changes in the past year required expertise and Ethan Reynolds did thorough and efficient work. I will absolutely come back in the future. Their fee was an exceptional value because I went from thinking that I would owe money in the thousands to actually
I have met the staff at Matthew Accounting in person only twice, but those visits confirmed for me the high level of financial expertise, professional confidentiality, and interpersonal courtesy that I have always experienced with them on the phone and through email correspondence. These matters are vitally important, of course, since the staff are handling matters of personal finance and the submission of important documents to governmental authorities. I have dealt most often through email correspondenc
We use Matthew Accounting for our personal and business tax services. Matt and his staff are knowledgeable, professional, and always available to answer questions and offer advice. Matt knows the ins and outs of the tax system, and for that he has earned our trust and confidence. I would highly recommend Matthew Accounting.
Matthew Accounting has done a good job with my taxes in the past. However, this year will be my last working with them. They will slip optional 'Audit Protection' services onto your invoice, without explanation and without any attempt to inform you. They will also require you to ask them to remove the unwanted optional services, before you can pay your expected bill. This is the type of tactic that would suit a shady used-car dealer, not a once-reputable accounting firm. Or maybe they are just tremendously
The team at Matthew Accounting are top notch. We have been a customer for a long time. They give me peace of mind, because dealing with the IRS and tax issues leaves me nervous. The last two years between IRS errors, and COVID issues with tax laws. I could relax and know I?m in great hands. I would def8nitely tell anyone to give them a try.
I have worked with Matt for years and have nothing but great things to say about his professionalism. This year I went to Matt for guidance as a young adult who is starting a small business. He took the time to prepare me for the proper steps to take in 2022 and walked me through the plan to file for 2021.Thank you Matt for answering questions and taking the time to explain how everything works!
We have worked with Matthew Accounting for about 3 years. We receive excellent service, are treated with great respect and friendliness by everyone at Matthew Account, and we receive valuable advice and a great value for the services we receive. We will continue to do business with Matthew Accounting!
They work quickly, which is appreciated. They are also very responsive to any questions I may have, and take the time to make sure I understand some of the complexities that go along with my tax returns. Highly recommend!
"Matt and his team do a phenomenal job! When we purchased our independent insurance agency last year, they were there step-by-step to explain various nuances, help with QuickBooks Online, tax planning, setting up payroll, etc. (the list goes on). Without Matt's help during the transition, frankly, I would have been lost with respect to all the tax planning aspects of running a new business! As a small agency with minimal staff, we've outsourced almost 100% of our accounting and bookkeeping needs to Matt and
Love Matt and his crew! They are more than an accounting firm and provide a lot of value from a financial strategy perspective. I would highly recommend them to you.
We have used Matthew Accounting for assistance with taxes and life events. The staff is kind, professional, and well informed.
We love Matthew Accounting! Always quick to answer any of our questions, or take care of any issues that come up with our Business, or our taxes.
They get everything done so quickly (even when I procrastinate because of my fear of tax time) - very friendly to go over things with you. A great staff and wonderful business
Very thorough. Keeping up with all the last minute changes in the tax laws really helped our family.
Best accounts for business and personal taxes. Their system has been really helpful for my companies.
Been coming here for years and always received excellent tax services and accounting advice. Highly recommend!
Friendly and helpful, reliable and excellent overall.
Outstanding service and great people!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
