Horrible customer service. I paid over $600 last year for Matt to file two years of tax returns and haven?t heard back once. I?ve called him several times, texted, and messaged him via his portal. I will never do business with him again. Sad to see how small business operates. I wouldn?t recommend him ever to anyone.
I used Matt for my taxes for a few years, and transitioned into self-employment which would complicate my taxes. I asked him about helping me with business and personal taxes which he declined (actually he just stopped responding to my multiple inquiries). Fast forward to present, I received a letter from the IRS asking for more information to a tax return that Matt filed. I've contacted him multiple times: text, emails, showing up at his office, etc. without a single reply even though he said he would deal
Matt is a professional. I called 30 minutes after his advertised hours to inquire about his services. He answered the phone and took time to explain his services, the fees, and what would likely be some important considerations for my situation. His explanations were clear and concise. I received a document via email to help allocate some of the expenses. I made an appointment for the following day and we were able to complete my taxes in less than 90 minutes. I highly recommend Matt and enjoy telling

Four years later update - Matt still does a fantastic job on the accounting part. With that being said, you can never and I mean never contact him. Phone calls, emails, text messages, none of them are returned. I rate the customer service as extremely poor and totally unacceptable. Matt did a great job and provided sound advisement for our future tax planning.
I've been using Matt's services for about five years now. I have been completely happy with the thoroughness and timeliness of his work. So much so, that I have referred numerous friends and coworkers to his office for assistance with their accounting needs. Even though I have left the state for work, I still continue to solicit his superb support. Thanks Matt and I'll see you next year.
I went into this tax season with a lot of questions and concerns. Matt was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions with detailed explanations, all without hesitation even on a Saturday. Being able to send my documents via email and sign my return without having to go into the office was very convenient and accommodating to my busy schedule. I highly recommend Matt Miller for your tax preparation needs.
We were very concerned about the 2013 tax season but Matt Miller really put our mind at ease. We went into his office expecting to have to pay this tax year, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we were actually going to be receiving a refund. Very knowledgeable, professional, and timely. We look forward to doing business with him next year. Thanks Matt!
Have been working with Matt since we moved to the Tampa area in 2013. He does both our personal and business taxes. Matt also takes care of our companies' payroll account. He has been a great help and has also given us great advise when it comes to the business. We highly recommend Matt to anyone that needs help with their taxes or running a business.
My experience has been far from positive. I brought my tax materials in the early part of March 2020 giving Mr. Miller ample time to prepare my return. All documents were scanned into the online portal and I was excited about the apparent ease of completing the return. He advised the return would take approximately three to four days to complete. Here we are a month later and no sign of my return. I have called daily, emailed and sent a message through the portal. Mr. Miller lacks the essential commun
Will not return calls!!!! I have been emailing, calling and texting for MONTHS!!!! He filed my 2021 return for me, but I didn't receive a tax form that needed to be filed (I didn't know) and the IRS rejected my return. I've been trying to reach him to get this corrected since I now have all documents and he will not return any messages! I uploaded the needed documents to his client portal and there has still been no action or communication. I'm stuck now without my refund and it's late October. I've bee
As of this afternoon Matt is and will remain my family's CPA. not only is Matt a knowledgeable CPA, he is a personable and honest man. After my appointment I felt more informed and educated in that short period than in my previous 7 years at the "Block"! I highly recommend Matt and will spread the word to my fellow friends and co-workers.
It was my first time for me and my husband to file tax jointly. Matthew was very friendly and helpful to us. He gave us lots of advice on what to keep track on so that it would be easier for us to file taxes next year. We were also able to schedule online easily which is a plus for us. Our taxes were completely done in under 1 hour.
Very satisfied. I came to Matthew with a 30 day timeframe to produce returns for multiple years and with a few complexities. He did an excellent job and I met my IRS deadline. Highly recommended. Thanks Matt!
Matthew is a fantastic CPA. He helped me prepare a personal return, and made the whole process very easy and comfortable. Overall I am extremely happy to have worked with Matthew this tax season, and I intend to work with him again. I will recommend him to everyone I know that's looking for a stellar CPA.
Matt was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and professional and took the time to go over everything with me. You are not just an account number to him. Matt made sure I understood all components of the tax return. I highly recommend using Matthew T. Miller as your CPA.
Jodi is a fantastic CPA. She helped me prepare a personal return and made the whole process very easy and comfortable, she took the time to go over everything with me. Overall I am extremely happy to have worked with Jodi this tax season, and I intend to work with her again. I will recommend her to everyone I know that's looking for a stellar CPA.
Matt has been such an asset both personally and for our business. He takes the time to explain things that other wise would be impossible to comprehend. He truly cares about our wellbeing and goes the extra mile! Thanks Matt!
As always, in meeting with Matt one can feel assured that not only is he a competent accountant, but also an affable, caring person with outstanding work and personal ethics.
Matt is very personable and professional. Wealth of knowledge and willing to answer any questions you may have. Would highly recommend him to anyone.
Matt is the guy that everyone should come to in Tampa and the place is really affordable... I finally find a place that I'll be happy to file my taxes every year..
BEWARE! MATT AND HIS PRACTICE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES! Rips people off! Some sort of tax fraud. He doesn't know what he is doing. Worst pathetic person. This place will be shutdown soon.
Made multiple mistakes on taxes. Did not answer calls or emails-had to contact another CPA to get my taxes filed, put me in a difficult position. Would not recommend.
He has been doing my taxes for years now always a great experience. Helps out as much as he can and offers great advice.
Can't ever get a hold of him. Completely non-responsive by email, phone, or in person.
Very personable, made the process of filing not so bad, put you at ease......very, very thorough.....I'll see him again next year!
Very professional, knowledgeable and efficient in processing my 2016 returns. Will definitely return with my 2017 taxes.
Mr. Miller is a very cordial person, and an excellent CPA. I give him a rating of 5 Stars.

Unorganized and difficult to communicate with.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
