I recently started working with Mike Miller on our business taxes and I am very impressed with his level of intelligence and acumen with regards to accounting and taxes overall. His ability to to see all aspects of the accounting realm and apply solid knowledge in how best to apply proper tax law is very impressive. Furthermore, Mike possess a strong moral compass in his proper application of tax law, and his previous experiences with IRS auditors further enhances his expertise of what is possible should

I've worked with Mike and his team since I started my business 5 years ago. I can't recommend them highly enough! Not only did Mike help make sure my business was set up properly he has offered wise counsel on the many (MANY) questions I've had over the years (even answering my emails on the weekends!). They have an easy to use portal that makes uploading files, viewing files and receiving files so easy. They really take time to go over my taxes in detail every year....always educating me on new tax laws o

Mike and all his staff are simply fantastic. Always polite, courteous and professional. They can assist with the most basic personal to complex business accounting. When choosing a CPA, it is important your CPA is up-to-date with the ever changing tax codes, which I find Mike Miller & Associates are. If you are looking for an accountant, or wanting to change accountants, it will be hard to go past Mike Miller & Associates. 5 Stars all round. Well done.

Miller & Associates has been doing our company and personal taxes for the last 3-4 years. We are very pleased with the service we receive, our returns are filed on time and the team goes beyond and above our expectations when it comes to customer service. If there is something we need we get an immediate call or email addressing our issue. It is so nice to have someone look out for your best interest and actually "care" while doing so. I highly recommend this company for accounting and financial services.

Miller & Associates has been a tremendous help in helping me with tax strategies, payroll, and tax preparation. Their whole team is responsive, professional and willing to help. I highly recommend working with Mike Miller and his team, not only for tax preparation, but for help with managing the financial aspects of your business.

Mike and his team have been preparing my taxes for over 7 years and his staff does an amazing job. I trust them implicitly and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a tax advisor. Jennifer Janney

Mike Miller is an extraordinary man! He has been doing my Father's taxes for the last few years and due to my father having been a WWII Veteran he helped my Father with respect, compassion and was supportive when my Father passed in August! He is professional and does an excellent job and would recommend him to anyone who needs financial assistance. Thank you Mike!

I am a young professional and had many tax questions on how to properly set up a business and what I needed to track for my tax returns. I got help on setting up my QuickBooks so that come tax time, I can just print out some reports an have much of the information they will need already done. A little investment up front, and it will be such a huge time and money saver down the road! Mike also sat down and gave me advice on what I should be doing each quarter so that I will know what my tax bill will look

Miller and associates has been handling my business and personal taxes for over 10 years. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Besides their laser insights to accounting, awareness of pending laws, thoroughness of completion, they answer the phone.

Mike has been the CPA for my business since early this year (2015). He's helping me understand my numbers. I find he explains things in ways I understand and has helped me fully understand the numbers that are critical to growing my business. I highly, highly recommend his services!

I recommend Mike and his team to everyone! He has always done the right thing by my business. I recently started a new business and he explain everything and answered all my questions perfectly. I know my business is in good hands with Mike and his team behind me!

Unprofessional and disrespectful. Can you imagine staff from your accounting firm yelling at you over email as the client and then the owner defending that behavior?! That is exactly what happened with the staff at Mike Miller and Associates. I started working with these accountants years ago and it used to be great - regular check-ins, advising, the whole deal. As the years have gone on, the service has become increasingly abysmal. When I finally decided to leave them, the first question they asked had not

Run for the hills. I met one of these associates at a biz networking event who claimed to offer discounted payroll and top notch accounting services so I switched to them as I would rather support a local business. What a nightmare. I was with their "payroll service" for a month and never got paid it never processed correctly and I kept getting told "oh it should work now I fixed it". So I signed back up with PayChex who has never dropped the ball. My monthly financials were always late - by over a month. W

I had such high hopes for this firm, and was sadly mislead. I had my "complimentary" meeting with Peter in October 2016 where we discussed my current situation as well as the possibility of me needing to change some things related to 1099 income. He spent about 30 minutes with me, told me he was going to follow up with me on some things, and we made a plan for him to start with helping me with our 2016 taxes. He quoted me a cost of $250 to file my 2016 returns, and he had reviewed my 2015 returns and 2016 w

Their team did excellent work resolving a complicated filing dispute from a previous year when TurboTax completely failed me. Smart, diligent, and timely they always make sure I maximize every deduction to pay the most fair (least) amount possible. Most trustworthy team in Denver

Quality, timeliness and good organization are what I've found with Miller & Associates CPAs during the time they have been working on my personal taxes. Staff members are professional and friendly and are available to answer my questions. I would highly recommend this CPA firm.

Mr. Miller knows his tax laws! We had a 20 minute meeting and he was able to get some complicated variables (school, medical, kid, sale of a rental, loss of a house) assessed and dealt with for our taxes this year. I would highly recommend using him!

We have been using Miller & Associates CPAs for a long time and am very pleased with their services. Their knowledge and professionalism in far superior. If you are looking for a new CPA I would recommend Miller & Associates CPAs.

This CPA firm uses the latest and greatest technology to provide top notch customer service and timely delivery. Between expert bookkeeping and tax planning advise, this firm will build your business in the right direction. Highly recommended!

They have been doing my personal and business taxes for 3 years. I have nothing but great things to say and get return emails/ phone calls within the same day. I would ... and have recommended to friends.

Avoid this place like the plague! You will be lucky to ever get a return call or email when your trying to find out the status of the tax return you dropped off 3 months earlier. It's a small time operation that is run out of a Regis office. Do yourself a favor and go to an accounting firm that holds its accountants to a standard. Don't waste the 500+ on this place

Mike is amazing to work with. He's detail oriented and incredibly knowledgeable. I have no qualms about referring my clients over for accounting services.

The team takes time to build a relationship with their clients. I felt totally at ease discussing business structure and tax planning as a new franchise owner. Thanks Mike!

Miller & Associates are very professional. They all are so pleasant and make you feel very comfortable. They always answer all of our questions. I would highly recommend them

So disappointed. Received completely different information from 2 different people in same office. Who do you trust? When it's going to cost you $14k and it's the IRS, you kinda gotta know whose right. :(.

Mike is very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to taxes and bookkeeping. He made me feel comfortable and helped me understand the processes.

Best bookkeeping and payroll service in Denver by far. They provide an incredibly personalized experience and are there for me any time that I need them.

They've handled my accounting needs for years, and I plan to continue doing business with them for many more years to come. Their customer service is excellent. Great value!

Mike Miller is an amazing guy! He has always done the right thing by me and my business! I trust him completely.

Highly recommend Mike. Over 20 yrs of experience including Big 4 experience with Coopers Lybrand (now PwC).

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
