Customer Reviews

Jake Neuman and MKA have made doing my annual taxes a breeze! As a teacher, my tax documents aren't terribly complicated, but I've always felt like I need advanced degrees to do them myself. Jake has done my taxes for two years now. He reached out in mid January as a friendly reminder to send my documents as soon as I got them and had them submitted within two days of my email. He really embodies the company motto of "proactive, personal, and prompt"! I've recommended him and MKA to friends and family membe

We have used MKA for many years. Ric, Jacob, and Bonnie have always provided top notch professional service. They are prompt, efficient, and always eager to help with general questions or our tax returns. We use them for multiple corporate and personal returns each year. VERY highly recommended!

Jake Newman has been a life saver. He provides insightful advice, thorough answers, and forward thinking strategy for our business and personal taxes. He's always available and answers questions quickly either on the phone or through email. We have recommended Jake to our friends and family without hesitation. If you are thinking of jumping to MKA, you can do so with confidence.

Jacob has been handling my taxes for a few years now, and I can't speak highly enough of him. He's always quick to reply to emails and very efficient and thorough in his responses. Working with him has been a breeze, and I'd definitely recommend his services to anyone looking for a friendly and reliable tax pro.

Absolutely the best. I have been with MKA for about 5 years now, and they have the best people and service in Central Florida. Easy to communicate and reliable. Thank you to all but specially to Jake. I have no words for your dedication and commitment towards your work.

Lyssa Phifer,CPA has been our trusted tax preparer for many years, and her services have consistently been exceptional. She is incredibly meticulous and thorough, ensuring that we take advantage of every possible tax deduction and ultimately save a significant amount of money. Her expertise and attention to detail are unmatched, and she always goes above and beyond to provide suggestions that benefit us. We highly recommend Lyssa for all your tax preparation needs.

My husband and I have worked with MKA since 2015 and there?s just not enough word count allowed here for me to express how lucky we are to have been referred to them, and how thrilled we?ve been all these years with the level of service and expertise they offer their clients. Between our 3 separate LLC?s and personal taxes things could easily get complicated and we could risk not getting the proper returns. Thanks to Ed Moss, Jacob (who?s been our CPA now for the last 3 years), and Angela (who expertly & th

I've been using RIC PEREZ with Moss, Krusick & Associates for all of my business accounting needs. As a business owner I do not have the time to keep track of everything I need to send to the IRS on a quarterly basis, but Ric contacts me and stays on top of it. Ric's team is always quick and responsive to answer any of my questions or concerns, and best of all I can always stop by since he is local! I would highly recommend RIC PEREZ with Moss, Krusick & Associates for your personal and business accounting

Ric Perez has shown me not only what an accountant does, but also how to be the best at it. I had what I thought was an accountant before, but I quickly realized after working with Ric, that I just had a tax preparer. I had hired someone that called me once a year to gather what they needed to prepare my taxes, and that?s it. Shortly after meeting and hiring Ric, is when I learned what a true tax professional is. Ric took the time to sit with me and go over detailed list of what I needed to do for my bu

I was disappointed with the service I received. Was told they were filing my returns late on April 14th after not hearing from them for over a month. They sent me random bills in the mail without any context to what they were for. Overall, I ended up paying twice as much for my 2021 taxes vs. what they quoted me. My tax professional also made many mistakes that I had to catch and ask for them to fix before submitting my returns.

I'm one of those people who don't enjoy tax season but working with Ric Perez at Moss Krusick & Associates was a breath of fresh air. The process went smooth and I learned a lot in the process. And I love their office. Very clean and professional looking. It's right next to the farmers market area over in Winter Park.

Extremely knowledgeable about tax codes, always available to clarify things if you have a question, and priced fairly. There is a reason they have so many accolades. Angela has always gotten right back to me when I had a question or concern.

I have used MKA for almost 15 years. They are very responsive professionals that continue to provide me with expert council. The do the accounting for all my business and many of my employees and friends. I refer them constantly.

I am highly disappointed with the customer service I received. Today 11/16/2022, 4:03 pm the answerer on the phone hangs out rudely without asking me any questions. I not recommend this place. My grandmother usually said. Good morning starts in the morning.

Rachel is super knowledgeable and really takes the time and care to address all your questions and needs!

They?ve done my taxes for 10 years now. Highly recommend for business and personal needs.

They do fantastic work for our business. I can highly recommend them!

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
