We have had the pleasure of doing business with MUN CPAs since 2015. We own 7 restaurants which complicates many aspects of our life. Lou Catalano and his team have helped us grow and navigate our ever changing world every step of the way. We always get more than what we anticipate when we sit down and discuss our current and future endeavors. The team is friendly, helpful and most of patient with us, as we can be very hard to pin down at times! Thank you for helping our companies rise to the success w
Absolutely terrible! If you want no communication, no actual tax planning or collaboration, and simply to receive emails with giant tax payments days before they are due this is your firm. Everything was last minute, questions were never answered via email or phone, and then giant invoices sent. Every email seemed to come from a new person without introduction. The definition of a large corporate CPA firm. Do not use.
Lou and the team at MUN CPA's have consistently done a fantastic job for our business and the nonprofits they do work for. They proactively make sure we are aware of upcoming tax requirements and opportunities and keep us in the best position we can be. In my mind, Lou and MUN CPA's are an essential part of any entity I am professionally a part of and I am thankful for their support of our business and our community.
MUNCPA has been an incredible CPA support to our business with excellent tax planning and up to date tax knowledge for us throughout the year as things are literally changing by the month. Chris Mann has been so responsive and supportive with us and his strategies to support our our company with yearly business strategic planning have been hugely impactful. He has also connected us with trusted professionals to support other areas of our finances and business. I can't say enough how MUNCPA has been a ble
Very unprofessional group, I do NOT recommend this firm. We met them at a dental seminar 3 years ago and were paired with John Urrutia for tax years 2019 and 2020. He rarely got back to us regarding tax questions, and when he replied it was with one-word or one-sentence responses. They were charging a lot for their services and the bills progressively got bigger year-to-year. After the poor service and high fees we decided to switch firms. Needless to say the new accountants found a lot of laziness and erro
We tried several firms before we found MUN CPA's. We have found them to be very proactive, innovative and efficient. Our experience has been that when there is an issue, they are responsive and actually willing to talk on the phone for explanations! Timely, organized and efficient. What else can you ask for?
This firm is very responsive and professional. The culture of the firm is to service their clients and communicate quickly. I work with Joey Romero and he is my "HERO"! On a short fuse, he reviewed my tax situation and had me boarded as a client the next morning. He listened to what I was trying to do and has come up with a great strategy that I trust. I highly recommend this firm for your personal and business tax needs!!
Wonderful experience with MUN CPA's. When other CPA's had told our company we did not qualify for the ERC, MUN got us over $350,000 back. Cannot say enough good things about them.
MUN CPAs have been excellent partners to our trade association and industry. They are experienced professionals, knowledgeable and very responsive. I highly recommend their services.
Lack of professional communication and follow through with services and assistance promised that led to a less favorable tax outcome and higher audit risks. Many errors on tax returns including failing to add $30k of Form 1099 income, that were now having to fix with our new CPA. Far too expensive for the services provided. Felt like they didn?t care much about us and they were just focused on higher income clients.
Chris Mann and his amazing partners and team at MUN CPAs have been my trusted firm for almost 25 Years!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
