Customer Reviews

Robin Narron and her staff were simply the best! I can?t thank them enough for putting our worries to ease. Robin?s professional experience is appreciated and her advice and services will be extremely beneficial for our Youth Sports Programs success in year 1. If you have any doubt about who to choose for your CPA. Rest assured the kind folks at Narron CPA will go above and beyond to satisfy your needs.

The staff at this firm are professional and courteous. They made the process of filing my mom?s estate taxes smooth and easy. Robin Narron was particularly helpful and always answered our questions promptly. We will definitely use their tax services again. Thank you all so much!

Narron Merritt CPA has a wonderful staff and gets the job done. This is a smaller firm however these folks will work for you to achieve satisfaction. Les has been a staple in the area forever and Robin has stepped in to help Les enjoy some down time (which he deserves). Robin is working diligently to satisfy clients and grow the business, I am happy to be a client. Thanks Narron Merritt for all you do!!

Like others have said, when it was Merritt running the business it was always a pleasure...or as pleasurable as getting your taxes can be is. The last two years have been the worst experiences. Having our 2021 taxes completed was slow, but it was post Narron so my wife and I gave some wiffle room, but it still took 2-months to complete our taxes, you would think that 2-months would ensure perfect tax returns, alas, we were audited. Most big companies offer insurance or some sort of assurance that if audited

Narron Merritt is as professional as they come! Robin is very thorough and seeks to assist with excellence for all of your needs. The experience and expertise is superb!!! I recommend to anyone!

Narron Merritt did a fabulous job for our family taxes this year. We had a unique tax year and they helped us navigate the process seamlessly and followed up with the IRA and NCDOR when we had questions. We use again next year!

When it was Les Merritt CPA, this company was great. Merritt retired and now Narron is at the helm. I do NOT recommend this business at all for anything tax or payroll related. They charged for me for work they didn't do. And what I did pay for, I ended up finding out from NCDOR, Narron never completed the work. Horrible knowledge of their field and horrible customer service.

This business is awful. Les was always a great guy but when he sold out to Narron the business went really downhill so fast. This is the most unprofessional CPA firm I have ever done business with in 20 years. Thankfully I got out as soon as I realized.

Narron Merritt CPA has been AWESOME helping and assisting my husband and I with our taxes for our personal businesses. Robin has gone above and beyond to offer us advice and assistance and is always willing to answer any questions we have.

Les helped me set up my consulting business. The firm did all paperwork and answered all of my business questions. They completed all taxes this year and provided tax advice as we move forward. Have recommended to multiple friends.

I?ve know Robin for many years and she is always willing to go the extra mile for her clients. Very knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend Narron Merritt to anyone needing their services.

I?ve had an incredible experience with not only Narron Merritt but the entire Narron family. They?re humble and extremely successful in just about anything they do. I highly recommend them!

Such a blessing to our community! Robin goes out of her way, every year, to giveher Auditor expertise to the Miss Zebulon Organization. So thankful for this business and those that work there!

Narron Merritt exceeded my expectations! Robin is very knowledgeable and explained everything perfectly. She really went above and beyond to earn our trust .

They promised to help start my small business. They failed me in more ways than one. In the end I had to have my business taxes amended and had to come out of pocket a lot of money because of this. When I reached out to them about my concerns and asked for a phone call I got nothing. I do not recommend them and wish I hadn?t trusted them.

Absolutely awesome group to work with! Robin and her team were the easiest to work with and are extremely knowledgeable! Super thankful to have found them and will continue to work with them year after year! Thank you guys!!

Highly recommend Narron Merritt as a community business that truly cares! Thank you for your continued services that make our organization a true success.

Prompt and so professional. Wonderful Firm with so many combined years of experience. Wouldn't trust anyone else with all of my tax and financial planning. Highly Recommend!

Did business with Les for many years and was very happy with their service, but the business was sold to the new owner and I was extremely unhappy with my experience. I strongly do not recommend from an experienced business owner for many many reasons.

Robin and her entire team care about their clients and provide sound and honest advice. Will continue to do business with them and recommend there services to everyone!

Loved the place before it was sold. Was not informed of the sale and have been unsatisfied since then. Unethical business practice overall. Save your money. Steer clear.

Great firm with excellent folks. Very professional and able to meet all of your personal and business tax needs! Highly recommend!

Great firm Robin and her entire team are very professional and knowledgeable. Highy recommend them.

Some of the most down to earth genuine people i have ever dealt with. They have looked after us and our needs like family for years now not to mention helped us grow some investments.

Les has been doing my taxes and financial planning for many, many years. He, and others in his office, are always available to answer my questions when needed.

I contacted them late into the tax season and they were gracious and timely with their communication and helped make my stressful situation manageable.

Provided no service to us but still tried to collect $50 through the mail.

Love this business. They are so helpful and patient in thier processes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
