Customer Reviews

I have used Padgett & Padgett for the last 22 years and would not ever consider anyone else. Steve and Terrell have always been a true pleasure to work with. They are personable, professional, prompt and I would not trust anyone else with my tax and accounting needs.

We can safely say our first year as a small business would not have been anywhere near as successful if we had not utilized Steve's expertise. He has been patient, kind, thorough, and meticulous in his work. He has walked with us and taught so much. Responds incredibly quickly to my endless and sometimes duplicate questions. We are so blessed to have Steve working with us. We moved confidently into our next year without the anxiety of wondering if we had planned correctly. Any business owner would be wise t

They didn't file an extension, even though I had told Terrell multiple times that was what I had wanted them to do every year...over priced and neglectful, must be prompted for things....ultimately cost me money and time. Not happy. If you do use them make sure you don't rely on their remembering your needs.

My wife and I have been clients of Padgett & Padgett for over twenty years. They have always treated us with respect, are very knowledgeable about our complicated tax laws, and are very professional in the way they handle and prepare our tax returns. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for or needing assistance with their taxes. Mike & Leslie Stapleton

For over twenty years my wife and I have benefitted from the menu of professional services provided by Steve Padgett and his staff (most notably Terrell White!) Steve has given us his personal attention and cogent advice for multiple businesses, real estate purchase/sale opportunities, tax strategies, retirement issues, and a great newsletter at no extra charge! We both appreciate and highly recommend him to others. Mick August

Steve and Terrell Team are awesome. We were passed their deadline of getting our paperwork to them, but they got our return done on time. It was for a previous year that we couldn't file an extension.

During a time of economic uncertainty Steve sent out information that was above and beyond a normal CPA / Tax office. He kept us informed of updates on all policy changes with the new administration. Steve Padgetts response to my endless question was always rapid and thorough. Undoubtedly and genuinely recommend his services!!

My experience with Padgett&Padgett PLLC CPA's has been very positive. Steve and Terrell have answered all my questions in a timely manner. I feel confident and trust in their work.

I have no idea what is happening at this Business. It's hard to get a hold of anyone (Same person every time), and when you, do you get bland answers and the run around. I used them to file my taxes this year and still haven't received my Tax return documents. I'm just glad my return actually got submitted. I documented everything with this company because everything that was said and done was so unprofessional and just screamed fishy. Will not be returning. Will never recommend.

Not sure if they are even in business but definitely am not impressed. We switched to them after Peter Conijn passed away and closed Conijn & Associates. And I regret it 100%. They will never get back to you. We didn?t even know if our taxes were submitted on time as the IRS website would not recognize our information for weeks. Finally did luckily and we got our refund beyond late. My mom?s business has to pay two penalties because of these guys. They did not file her extension on time. They have not res

I feel blessed to have found Steve to be my accountant. He is thoughtful, understanding and most importantly.....he saved me tons on my tax liability compared to my last CPA. I am old school. I look to have relationships with the professionals I engage. I want to work with a person, not a computer program. Steve is a good human and a great CPA.

I wish I had discovered Padgett&Padgett many years ago. Since 2014, this firm has been extremely helpful in identifying many things I had been overlooking, especially rulings that apply to overseas filers like me. Their office and staff in Shanghai have been very professional and helpful and it is nice to know that their headquarters are in my home state of Washington. This is a great firm.

Padgett & Padgett has provided the highest level of reliability and integrity for more than two decades. The firm is built on a reputation of excellence and trustworthiness. They have my full endorsement and recommendation.

I have worked with Steve for almost 20 years. Some of those years were complicated and Steve always found the best way to prepare my taxes. I have also used his services to help retirement plan and to interview financial advisors. I also have a small business where he provides services for that too!

Their admin took our information, had me come in to provide financial documents to help file our taxes, and then dodged phone calls and emails for months. Ended up filing on our own, as they never got back to us.

They have prepared our taxes for 8 years and am very happy with them. They are reasonable and efficient.

Having been with Padgett & Padgett CPA's for tax preparation for a number of years with no issues/discrepancies or audits has been a blessing. Thanks Steve, Terrell & company!

I highly recommend Padgett & Padgett. They have worked with me with my taxes for years and have always been impressed with their service.

Thank you Terrell and Padget for helping my small business. They were affordable, reliable, communicative, all the above.

I've been using Padgett & Padgett for my taxes for years. They are efficient, organized, and friendly.

I called to set up an appt and was told they'd call back in an hour. A week later I called again and they said they'd call back in an hour. This time they did and said they'd email me some info... It's been almost a month. Very unprofessional. You've lost my business

Excellent and efficient. Have used Padgett & Padgett for the past 10 years (since moving to WA state). Highly recommended!

Friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Would definitely recommend.

Is this company still in business, I have used them for years, they are no longer responding to my emails or telephone calls or returning VM

Terrell is always efficient and courteous. Many thanks

Friendly, knowledgeable staff always willing to go the extra mile!

Timley service at a reasonable price. Very satisfied with their service.

Always take good care of me

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
