Customer Reviews

I cannot believe I haven't written a review for Peterson Tax & Accounting Services - Holly and her entire team are incredible! They are wonderful professionals with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Over the years my family and I have gone through weird and complex tax situations that were easily handled by Holly and her amazing team of tax professionals. As far as recommending them - I already do! My brother in law, friend/ business partner all use Peterson.

Went in to get my taxes done this year, I met with Tapanga. She did a phenomenal job. She listened to my needs and address all my concerns. She got me one of my best refunds ever! Highly recommend you give Peterson Tax a try you won?t be disappointed. 11/10

I came in to see Stephanie this year. She was attentive and amazing. She answered all my millions of questions and got me my biggest return ever! The booking process was easy and the fees were comparable to other tax places! I would highly recommend! I found my forever tax place! Thank you Peterson tax for being amazing!

Absolutely amazing service! I came in with multiple years of back taxes that were stressing me out. I worked with Stephanie she was perfect. She was able to explain in detail my situation to me and was able to identify discrepancies in what the IRS said I owed them! This will be the only place I will go to from now on and will recommend them to all my friends and family! If you have not been yet I highly recommend giving them a try!

I have been using Holly and her team since 2016 for takes and accounting. I couldn't be happier with the attention to detail, commitment to customers, and value with their tax services.

I have used Peterson for the last 4 years of tax returns, and I will never use them again. The first year, things went well and I was genuinely impressed. They had done a previous year's tax return I was woefully behind on, and the following year's tax return with accuracy and in a great timeframe. I thought I had found the tax preparation solution that would make my life a breeze. The next year I returned with that year's tax documents. It was a relatively simple return, two states and one federal return

Peterson Tax Service has prepared our taxes for many years. We have had no difficulty reaching them by phone to answer questions or to make an appointment. Cannot imagine anyone more friendly and courteous, more than willing to do the extra small details that make for good service. Holly and Vickie not only do our taxes, but my children now go to them for their tax work also. Without hesitation I would highly recommend their tax service.

This is Sally posting this review. I went to Peterson?s because I needed help. I had tried to file my own taxes and neglected to file my state taxes for ahem...a few years. Vicky was not judgmental, she listened closely, assuaged my fears, and filed several years of back state taxes as well as re-filing a few years of federal taxes I?d done incorrectly, all within a few days. I can?t express how much anxiety I?d been feeling. I can?t stress enough how helpful, friendly and confident she was. When we did th

I have used Peterson tax service for many years & I really enjoy their professional, knowledgeable and very friendly staff. A special shout out to Holly for also helping me find my dream house- I couldn?t have done it without her- she?s great at accounting and also a darn good real estate agent. Thanks so much Holly! Kevin T.

Honestly I have never worked with a more dysfunctional, unprofessional company. There were several things that contributed to my negative experience, but I was willing to overlook them and move on with my life until I opened my Google Sheets doc today to see that Carol, the tax agent I worked with, had gone into my original master document and had altered it while she was going through tracking my expenses. Well, in the process of doing so, she also deleted over $1300 worth of 2022 expenses that I had tra

There's nothing easier than seeing Vickie Peterson for your tax needs. She is quick, efficient, detailed, and very competitively priced. We couldn't be more pleased with the service we have received from the Peterson Tax Team. We look forward to working with them again next year. If you're unsure about whether to use a big name company or Vickie Peterson you won't be disappointed to use Vickie.

Peterson Tax & Accounting have been doing my Bookkeeping, Payroll, Business and Personal Taxes for 2 years now. I LOVE THEM! They are a family owned and operated company. Vickie and Holly Peterson have both gone out of their way to help my business be successful. Thanks Ladies. Keep up the great work!

CLIENTS BEWARE!!! I have never experienced such HORRIBLE and UNPROFESSIONAL customer service in my life. Holly agreed to do our taxes early February of this year. I dropped off all our paperwork to their office on February 14th, 2020. I would periodically check in with her via email and phone to make sure she was still ON TRACK and able to complete everything by the deadline of July 15th. All I got during that time were a total of TWO email responses from her saying YES she can still do the service. She kep

Our experience with Peterson Tax Service was extremely positive. It was easy to see that not all tax preparers are created equal. The difference comes down to the end result. If you walk away after the process with the confidence that every aspect of your personal situation, in regards to taxes, was thoroughly reviewed and analyzed to determine the final outcome, it translates into a feeling of accomplishment. If the new tax laws are presented to you in a manner that is clear and concise, accompanied by

I have been going to see Vickie at Peterson Tax & Accounting for my income taxes for the past 14 years. They always go out of their way to help us. The whole staff is great. I love that they are a family owned business. I recommend them to everyone.

Called on March 28th and asked for a CPA to handle a simple Oregon tax form for a house closing. I was assured by the receptionist, two times, that Holly would call me back Friday night or Saturday AM. Well, Saturday afternoon on March 30th I had to call, because no one called me. Well, Holly was busy and she would call me. She did, the call was dropped, she never called back, I had to call again. Oh, she was with a client and she would call me back. Once again, that DID NOT happen. It is Monday morning and

Personal, local, efficient. Vickie is highly effective and kind. I didnt realize how organized my paperwork was until I needed to find a document. We were referred by a friend and would also highly recommend.

Holly was super nice. Helpful with questions with taxes for next year, my kids dependency and business. Excited to find a new person after my accountant retired.

I?ve never had a dedicated tax person until I found Peterson Tax services. Now I come here every year and it is always enjoyable and easy to work with them! Would recommend to anyone.

Absolutely love this place. Wouldn't go anywhere else for taxes. Vickie is so helpful in ensuring you get the biggest refund possible and explaining things. Would 100% recommend them for anything they offer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
