Terrible. We have a very straightforward tax situation. We hired Purewal in 2020 for our tax return which was done with no issue. 2021 taxes also fine. 2022, despite us asking to submit our taxes several times (IRS kept moving out deadlines) in April, July, August, they were not submitted until the last possible day in October. Also, she missed the EV tax credit. Then I couldn't trust any of the work. We do our taxes ourselves now without the stress of project managing someone you're paying >$1,000
Purewal + Co is absolutely fantastic! After running my business for over 4 years, I came to the realization that my initial accountant lacked the necessary expertise in tax and other related accounting functions. Thankfully, I was referred to Anita and her team at Purewal + Co, and the difference has been remarkable. They not only assisted me in maximizing my tax savings and reducing expenses but also meticulously reconciled my books. I am truly grateful to Purewal + Co for their invaluable support!
If you are looking for an accounting firm that values your time and money like it's their own, look no further. Since retaining the services of Purewal + Co. on the recommendation of a colleague, I have been pleasantly surprised and very impressed by the level of expertise shown by their team. Because of Anita?s comprehensive knowledge of tax law, and thorough understanding of real world business practices, my company has come to rely heavily on the consultation she provides for even the most complicated ta
Purewal + Co is hands down the best tax preparer, tax support, and overall tax service I have ever used. I have gone from being a devout H&R Block client, to trying out a very small private firm, finally landing at Purewal + Co and am making myself right at home for the long haul here. I have VERY difficult taxes with side businesses, multiple jobs, and contractor work and they took care of it super quickly and easily. I am also one of those people who asks a million questions and they have never left me ha
Highly recommended. Purewal + Co was recommended by 3 trusted people. I've used several CPAs over the years, and finally found a consummate professional I want to stay with. The team at Purewal + Co were experienced and knowledgeable, yet down to earth and approachable. Anita specifically was responsive and took the time to really consider my situation. I rarely leave reviews, but in this case her professionalism should be made known to others looking for a seriously great CPA.
Was having some issues with my LLC and Personal returns and was looking for an experienced CPA to help resolve the matter, luckily we found Purewal & Co. Happy we found a CPA able to hep us through the process. Anita and her team explained everything and will answer as many questions as asked, very patient and determined, definitely recommend their service.
Anita and team are great. Through the years, Anita has always been compassionate, patient and professional. Her expertise and knowledge, especially during these challenging times, cannot be overstated.
Been having Anita do my taxes for over 10 years now, and when she raised her price she did give me a heads up 4 months in advance. The price bump wasn't a big deal considering she does a great with my taxes. Expertise is worth the reasonable fee for me. ??
I wish this worked fine but it didn't. We were charmed by her energy and competence a few months ago when we decided to hire her. That faded pretty quickly. Always late, always busy, returning call or emails after days, late night messages, disappear for weeks and most importantly - "forgot" to send our personal returns to IRS, resulting in thousands of dollars of penalties. Her favorite catch phrases: 1) it's a strange year (oh really?!) 2) busy with work, I am so sorry (we all are) 3) I'll follow up with
Anita works really hard, she has been dealt a tuff hand as have many of us with the pandemic, I have faith we'll get through this together.
Anita is very friendly, trustworthy and gave very good advice! Definitely recommend!
The best! Don't waste time with cheaper options if you want great service and professional expertise. Highly recommend.
Detailed and professional!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
