My husband and I have had our taxes done by John Rand, CPA for over 30+ years. Not only with our personal income tax preparations, he also has prepared my business taxes, helped me with my books and given me much reassurance when it was needed. As a small business owner starting out, I leaned on Mr. Rand for his experience and knowledge of small businesses. He helped me understand the many deductions that were available to me. John has always made sure that all of our needs were met. He has always been ava
We have had Rand CPA's since our business started nearly 19 years ago and feel such relief to have them just a phone call away. We are a small business and therefore not big enough for a CFO or an accounting department and Rand sure fills that for us. I have called them frequently for help with software, tax questions, bookkeeping questions, retirement savings account questions and just about any other question a small business could have. Rand gives us confidence that allows us to sleep easy knowing our
Years ago we stumbled across Rand Accounting via a friends recommendation. We were struggling to keep up with our books. Instead of spending time on our company growth and impact we were spending time on our taxes, payroll, and other accounting issues. We didn't realize there was an answer that would benefit us with such positive impact as working with Rand Accounting. Now, with clear focus on what will grow our company we have tripled in size. All while having the time to have a family and personal li
I have been a client for more than 25 years. In the course of those years, John Rand has taken care of my taxes through a variety of life events that bring various tax obligations. He has always done this with efficiency. I appreciate the lack of stress and worry that I enjoy due to my confidence in him and his team. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone. Always ethical and efficient.
Rand CPA has been an extremely valuable asset to our small business (brewery). They have helped us ensure bookkeeping is up to date, taxes are paid on time, payroll is accurate, and that we are being strategic when making business decisions. They have also been patient with us in providing needed information to stay on track with everything listed above. We truly would not have been as successful as we are with their support. I cannot endorse their services enough!
I moved my company down from Washington state in 2003. Rand has been our accountant since our move. I have been very Happy with their service. They have always done a fantastic job and I never had to worry about anything with them. Great group of people. We couldn't be happier. If I could, I would give them 10 Stars. Thanks Rand. I've had John Rand for a CPA for over 30 years now. John, and the people who work with him, have helped me when I was single, married, working for someone else, through a fifteen year partnership business, through retirement and now back owning my own business again. I don't understand accounting or taxes, and to be honest with you, I don't want to know. I feel confident that Rand CPA's knows everything old and new in accounting for you as an individual or business ... or in my case .. for both. Hard w
I have been with Rand Accounting for 30 years. They have helped me with two businesses. They have helped in the good times and got me through the hard times. All of their bookkeepers are amazing and I always feel like I am their only client. I like that they are always up to date on the new Tax laws. As long as I have a business or need my taxes done I will use Rand CPA's.
Rand Accounting have been our accountants since the beginning of our business. Their attention to detail, and continued professionalism have helped us keep our restauramt on track and thriving. Their financial guidance has been an outstanding resource and has relieved an immense amount of stress from our management team.
John Rand is the real deal. Blessed that I found him. He does a great job, honest/legit. Cares about his clients and it shows!
I called and called and left a message twice, i called them every week and multiple times... hoping to get a call back. If you are too busy, maybe you said it on your voice mail your to busy for a new client. For not returning call at all, that said something about how you operate with the business.
I've been with Rand for 5+ years, they do a great job. I'm a difficult client because I'm so hands-off. I just want them to do everything, and the less I hear about it the better. Stellar team.
I have been with Rand CPA's for a number of years and found them to be honest. They helped my Corp. Bottom line.
Rand CPA's have been invaluable in the day to day operations of our business.
They have been managing my practice for a few years now and are fantastic!
Great company, great people who care.
Great attention to detail and responsive to our questions
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
