I went here with my mom because she needed a new cpa based off a recommendation from my real estate agent. At the time we met with the son of the owner and hadn't committed yet, but after talking to my real estate agent again he said he only recommended the owner. When she called to ask again about this she was told by the son he no longer wanted do business with her for asking. Very sleezy and unprofessional behavior, especially to an elderly woman in her 70s. Any business that treats their customers like
As a business owner, the world of Taxes and Payroll can be a SCARY step! As rewarding as being a new business owner can be, it comes with a fair share of hurdles. After my initial meeting with Dawayne, I knew I had the right team and I was excited to get started. I brought them a little bit of a complicated project and his entire team handled different parts of it and executed it to a T. They did a great job of keeping me informed and comfortable through the process and always made an effort to answer ever
My husband and I have been clients with Rowell CPA for over 30 years. We are both self employed. Ron and his staff have always handled our year end accounting with integrity and thoroughness. The office staff is always friendly and the get back to you immediately with answers to your questions. I would highly recommend them.
Having a CPA firm that we can trust has been incredible for us. After 11 returns we are now officially spoiled knowing that we have an honest and professional team here. It allows us to focus on what we love to do! I highly recommend them!
If I had the option of you giving you zero stars I would. A few weeks go I called to make an appointment. The lady that I spoke to on the phone was unprofessional and unprepared and it took almost 10 minutes to schedule an appointment. The appointment was to be scheduled on 3/16. I got a call probably on Monday saying that you arent accepting new clients. Why couldn't you guys tell me that before? I was told after tax season. Thanks but no thanks. I don't I could trust you guys.
I called for a phone consultation and when I informed them that I have a business in the medical marijuana industry I was immediately cut off and told that they wouldn?t be interested in working with me. When I then informed him that the business was shutting down and that I wouldn?t even be using that business on my next years taxes and that my questions pertained to real estate, he cut me off and still didn?t want to work with me. Not happy being treated like a second class citizen.
We have been clients with Rowell CPA for over 10 years. Stated simply, they are the definition of excellence. They are an amazing group of people who honestly care about their clients. Thank you Rowell CPA
I really appreciate Rowell's and everyone that works there. They did a wonderful job and quickly, especially since I was going out of the country. Thanks again guys
Super helpful staff. Love how fast they get stuff done without a hassle. They also keep their word when stuff is going to be done at a certain time they always deliver. Definitely have them do your taxes and payroll you won?t regret it!
This group of CPA's have been doing my taxes for years and years. They are easy to work with. Even when my complicated life and poor record keeping seem to make April 15th a nightmare, they are always able to sort it out. I trust them.
I have been with Mr. Ron Rowell's CPA group for several years and have been pleased with all his work. I have to file tax in Tennessee as well as Oregon. William Nichols
I used them last year and was very unhappy with the lack of communication within the firm, granted my taxes are very complicated. Im adding an edit because I received a call from one of the partners offering to rectify the communication inconsistency, which I greatly appreciate.
Great group of people!! Nice to work with and I feel very welcome. I use both the CPA service and payroll and both are great services!!
Great group, they answered all of my questions that I had, I was very impressed with all of them, looking forward to using them in the future.
Prospecting CPAs, called for a few quick questions. Response I got is we don't answer questions to non clients. Not a good way to talk to potential clients.
This is a great group of people to do business. They are so helpful and very professional. I appreciate that they are a family local business.
I got very quick help considering it's just before April 15th. Thank you so much for the help. It was such a relief!
Top notch, best in Gresham. We Have used them for 15 + years!
Super on it folks. Always there to help me and to answer questions. I trust them and refer to them often. These guys rock!
Absolutely excellent service. Not just good but Great!
Rowell CPA Group - the BEST!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
