Sean was wonderful to work with. His knowledge was immensely beneficial to my business needs. He has constantly been easy to reach and offers a service that feels honest, personal, and tailored. I would recommend Sean to anyone with a business. He is the perfect CPA to navigate the different routes small businesses can use to save money.
I was referred to Sean by a friend, and I couldn't be happier with the service I've received. Sean and his team are incredibly knowledgeable and have been diligent in helping me with both personal and business taxes, as well as payroll. Their professionalism and attention to detail have made the entire process seamless. I highly recommend Sean to anyone in need of expert financial services!
Very sharp and friendly people. Sean and his team really knows how to help. I highly recommend Sean K Butler, CPA, LLC for business and personal tax filings. In addition to tax services, he had helped me with financial advising. It makes a world of difference working with people that really enjoy what they do and care about their clients.
Sean is the best CPA I have ever used in Houston. I had a cpa who did not do his job previously, and did not file my taxes properly. I also own a business? that caused tons of pain. Sean was able to get me an unbelievable outcome. I thought i would end up owning tens of thousands of dollars more than what we ended up owning. The knowledge and experience he has displayed and shared is above and beyond all the other CPAs I used. I also noticed he doesn?t skimp on info and actually explains the details and
I probably called 10 different tax places, before I decided on Sean. He did mine, my girlfriend's, and my parent's tax returns. I appreciate how thorough he is as he summarizes the form afterwards and explains where the numbers were coming from. He provided printouts of information in regards to the additional questions we asked. He was very flexible and accommodating with scheduling appointments. Obviously, I would recommend and have already recommended him to my friends and professional colleagues.
I've been working with Sean since 2010. I own a small business that has grown significantly since then. He has advised me on hiring employees, forming my LLC, how to file to lower my taxes, etc. If you are self-employed and/or just starting a business and need a right hand man to help you through the process, I can't recommend him enough. Working with him gives me piece of mind.
This is my second year doing taxes here and I have never dealt with a more kind and caring CPA about my tax situation (and financial situation). He and his team are very thorough and know what they are talking about. I have recommended this place to my friends and family and so far, VERY PLEASED AND NO COMPLAINTS! Spend your money where it is worth it, not at those chain tax preparing places because those people aren't as knowledgeable or as caring as Mr. Butler!
Excellent specialty CPA shop. Sean and his assistant Michelle really know what they're doing. They've been doing our businesses taxes for years and have always been on the ball knowing what we could and couldn't get away with. Sean's straight forward attitude is definitely appreciated in a world dominated by hucksters and people who will say anything they think you want to hear.
Extremely clumsy and unprofessional. Forgot to file 2 of my franchise taxes on time and one totally forgotten. Cost me close to 1k to rectify the situation on my own after he refused to fix his mistakes without another filing fee. Basically charged me to file and wanted to charge me again to fix his incompetent work. I would not work with him ever again and won?t advise anyone else to do so. Find a CPA you don?t have to educate about taxes
Sean has helped me sort out the mess I had managed to create starting a new consulting business and now has set me on the correct path. Very helpful, great advice and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Sean.
Sean is quite knowledgeable about taxes on business and the variousl ins and outs of available deductions. Sean has prepared my company and personal returns quite well.
Excellent CPA! Great team. He does our business and personal tax returns.
Has done my taxes for the last two years. He takes the time to explain everything, and it is a pleasure everytime I work with them.
Very professional and reliable client service. Highly recommended.
Two words: Arrogant and Overpriced.
Good information for starting a business.
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
