Customer Reviews

While the people are great, the main reason you go to a tax advisor is for the knowledge. They should know a great deal more than you! My situation was definitely out of the ordinary and I would rather they had siad that they do not handle my situation. I went elsewhere to a tax advisor for Trusts and my issues were resolved very quickly. I did not have a great experience with my situation. However I?m sure that they are excellent at what they specialize in.

Working with this team has been a complete nightmare. I've encountered penalties due to my sales tax being filed late; a consequence of one team member leaving early and neglecting to inform anyone of the outstanding work. It required a personal visit to the office to get anyone to address my concern, only to discover that the person was being dishonest about certain unnecessary matters. There were instances when my calls were ignored unless I dialed from a different number. Currently, my 2021 tax returns h

I've known Nic and Millie personally for over 30 years and used his Professional Services for as long. He is a dear friend and trusted adviser. Through the years I have leaned on him many times for answers and problem solving and I'm forever amazed at the depth of his understanding and knowledge. His integrity is beyond reproach. As his business has grown thru the years, he has surrounded himself with First Class Associates and professional, qualified and friendly Staff. It's really nice to call 3 or

The best of the best. My husband and I were so confused heading into this tax season, as both of us work in the freelance/independent contractor lane as well as in ministry. Nick knew exactly what to do and put us at ease the entire time! He's even given us direction moving forward so that we're in the best possible place for next year. If you're looking for an accounting firm with integrity that you enjoy being around, look no further!

Nick Simonic has been my accountant for over 30 years. His whole company operates with integrity. You can trust them

I have the honored distinction of being Nick's very first client. As a young youth minister with my first real job, I didn't even know how to file a tax return. Nick was part of my leadership team and we became fast friends. I knew that he was a comptroller for a local business and figured he could give me some advice. So I asked him if he did taxes. He said, "I do my own". I responded, " Well, if you'll do mine, I'll pay you". Nick did his research and discovered that there were many tax advantages for pas

I've known Nick & his wife for about 30 years. I was introduced to him by one of my close friends. Nick has been a blessing to me and my family every sense. I highly recommend this firm. I've watched this firm grow from a one man out fit to a major corporation. God bless you!

Whether your Tax needs are simple or complex, Simonic and Associates has the expertise to effectively assist and advise. You may find another Firm that can perform the same services. However, No Other Firm will treat you with the same level of warmth and professionalism. You seriously cannot select a better Firm than Simonic and Associates. D. Lindsey

I have known Nick since before he started his accounting firm. I switched to him 30 plus years ago when he opened his doors. He has always been someone I could count on (or have him counting for me!). Today, it is Joanne Ratnecht that handles my account and both she and Nick are the absolute best. I am a small client but you would never know it by the level of service I get from them. You cannot find a better accountant than Simonic Simonic Ratnecht

Outstanding service over the past twenty-five years. Whether personal tax preparation or corporate tax preparation, Simonic Simonic Ratnecht-CPAs has worked hard to get as much of my money back into my hands or keep in my hands! I would recommend the CPA firm to any level of business.

This is a top flight firm. I have been with them 33 years and have always received excellent service. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. Someone is always available to help me when I have a question. I have absolute confidence in Simonic Simonic Ratnecth.

I first met Nic in 1991 when I started my business. Nic and his staff guided me through periods of dramatic growth and catastrophic declines. In spite of bankruptcy in 2010 I remain a loyal Simonic client who counts on the advice and guidance that has kept me financially secure and safe from any miscommunication from various government agencies. Nic and his team were constantly aware of changes in regulations that impacted me financially and emotionally. An $18,000 bill from the Department if Revenue wa

Nick and his team are simply the best accountants in Jacksonville. I love their slogan, "it's not an expense, it's an investment." This is absolutely true of Simonic and Associates. Hiring them as your accountant is an investment. I highly recommend Nick and his team.

When I started my own business for the very first time, I knew right away that I needed a GOOD CPA to handle my LLC/S-Corp. Nick, Sean, Joanne, Debbie, Sara and Kim - these are all staff that I know on a first name basis and trust completely with my business and personal taxes. Anyone looking for a solid CPA that will save you $$ need to look no further.

SSR & Associates is by far the best firm to handle all of your accounting & financial affairs. Everyone is super friendly, professional, and helpful every time we have a need or question. SSR & Associates is prompt in returning calls and have served our nonprofit needs for many years. I rated five stars, however, would've rated higher, if possible. Highly recommend! -Valeriana Feliciano Chair & Director Oasis of Peace, Inc

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
