My bad for paying over $230.00 for an extension and a simple 1040 that I could have done online for $39.00. What a joke, unfortanetly looks like the jokes on me. Thanks for nothing Spencer Tax Service.
I have been going there for 30 years. Never a mistake. I used to sit and wait for them to get done, no problem! I now live in Tennessee and I send my taxes up there every year to be done. Will always use them. Prices seem fair to me! I usually get Laura, love her and Mary. They are both good. Give them a try.
Laura was so nice and friendly! They got me in right away and I was out within 30 minutes. My first time going here and my best experience with taxes, ever. Highly recommend this company. I will definitely be back!
Will not be returning next year. Not only did it take 3 weeks, but they charged an astronomical amount to prepare and file my taxes - which were not done correctly. I just received adjustments to my refund from Ohio, which I have never received before. When I asked a question about city taxes, they were condescending in their answer. Very disappointed with my experience.
If I could give negative stars I would!!! My disabled mother has been going here for years she recently was treated terribly I?m beside myself on how rude someone here was to her and they know the position and situation she is in the disregarded the letter from the irs stating she needed to set up a new payment plan with them knowing as a tax consultant what that could mean for her and told her ?I wouldn't worry about it they are so busy and behind?! Now because she trusted them her home has a lien on it !
The best CPA in the Barberton area! Recently my father passed away and the same month we had to put my mother into living assistance for dementia. Mary which had been doing my parents tax return for previous years was fantastic! This could have been a nightmare without Mary?s outstanding advice and patience. I want to give Mary and her staff the highest praise for their help.
Very unprofessional and rude. Not to mention they told me 3 weeks turn around and ended up being over 6 weeks. This was a pretty basic return and I know I would have received a better refund else where. Same your time and go anywhere else.
I have been a continued customer for years now. This team is very helpful - especially for self-employed people like me. Also very fair pricing.
Laura done me a fast favor right as tax time was getting started and done a great job. They treat people right I will continue to do my tax business here A+. Thanks again Laura. Bierlair Trucking.
This was our first year using Spencer Tax Services. They did a great job! Very friendly and fast service! Will definitely recommend their services!
Great customer service. Hats off to these ladies, at this very difficult time. A big thank you. Prayers that you are all stay safe & healthy.
Laura and her team make the process simple, quick and painless to all concerned.
Spencer Tax Service has been preparing our tac returns for a few years now. We would not even consider using another.
Good tax service. Was very helpful with my questions. Used the first time last year. Will use again.
I am the neighbor Who doesn't help the neighbor in the parking lot and get the city put a sign 2 hours parking from 6 am to 9 pm can't help others I never thought that in USA you can buy the law But those people bought the law and got the city to put this sign and guess what I got a parking ticket Great
Always good service by Mary and her C.P.A. cohorts. Been going there since 1969.
We have used them for years, more like family now!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
