One star is too much. I needed a CPA and being my first time I did not know what to expect. I have done my own taxes for over 20 years and at the most owed around $1000.00. I met with Angel and she sounded unsure to me but I decided I needed a CPA so I went with them. She said we need a $400.00 retainer. HR block did my business taxes and only charged $300. So I figured that was good and there was no mention of any further expenses. I Got all my paperwork that I could to them by April 15. There was
In the past I have use TurboTax and H&R Block online. Never really knowing if I was doing it right or not. Recently I meet Steve and decided to give him a shot. I was blown away with the service I received. First off his staff Angel and Megan were friendly, knowledgeable and very responsive. I truly felt that Steve and his staff went out of their way to make sure my taxes were complete in a reasonable amount of time and request documents I didn?t know were needed. You won?t find a more professional group to
I've been going to Stephen Miller and his able assistant Angel since the mid 1990s. It's always a very comforting experience to know and feel that the tax returns are being done perfectly. And the mood in the office is always very warm and friendly and the free candy to eat is always top-notch! And Steve has given me great advice over the years regarding various financial matters. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else but this office to have my tax returns done.
Let me tell you, I have a problem letting people know about my finances, I was a bit worried coming into Stephen Miller CPA, but you know what? Angel and Raisa are just completely amazing, yes you gotta pay their rate, but you know what? These people go above and beyond for you. If you are looking for wonderful gentle people to help you figure out your finances and get completely on track. These are the people to talk to!
Steve has been taking care of my business and personal accounts since 2012. He is very knowledgeable and keeps up to date on the year to year tax changes. His rates are reasonable and he is always available for any concerns I may have. I highly recommend Steve Miller CPA for all of your commercial and personal accounting needs.
I met Steve at a business event and had remembered him several years later when I was in need of some serious accounting help. Both Steve and Angel were incredibly patient and helpful in wading through paperwork and finding the best options for me. I appreciated that Steve would let me know when I could do something myself easily instead of being charged for the office to do it. Excellent experience!
If I could give this place negative stars I would. Do NOT use this place for ANYTHING!!! Had a business and personal taxes set up here and have gotten screwed over and over by these people. Our taxes ended up being completely done 2.5 months AFTER the filing due date because they kept getting behind when we gave them everything in February (so plenty of time to get it done by April yet it took and extra 2.5 months past the IRS due date) and there was a bunch of hidden fees that kept coming up. AND personal
I would give zero stars if I could. He charged $1200 for individual taxes. I then got audited on those taxes. He charged another $3000 to slap a letter on documents I provided during tax preparation and again at audit. He said his hourly rate is $304. So, nine hours to do that?
Known Steve for a while, and finally decided to use his services for my family's tax returns. So glad we did! Got really sizable federal and state tax refunds and a thorough explanation of the process and results. Very happy and will now be a long time customer!
Many clients and business contacts I know trust their services year after year. From small to large needs, they have you covered 100% and beyond. I have had a chance to meet with them several times, you simply cannot go wrong with Stephen R. Miller CPA, PC. Their knowledge and experience truly shines.
Not a friendly company! They are all about making the money ($150 for consult & $300 for simple tax preparing). However, the client should be more important than them making money. I don't appreciate being a cash cow for someone else. At least smile for the money! Jeez!
Steve has done our business taxes for 20 years and we are completely happy with his services and assistant Angel is a pleasure to deal with as well We would highly recommend him for easy or complex tax matters.
Stephen R. Miller and Angel Sherer are in the top of their field for accounting knowledge and customer service. Very dependable and trustworthy.
Everyone working in this firm is amazing, but Angel is the best!! Thank you taking such great care of us!
Such a great CPA firm, Angel is so helpful and truly cares about her clients!
Steve and Angel saved my business and made "tax time" so much reasier......highly recommend.
A professional and friendly team. I have zero complaints with my experiences with them, and I will be a returning client for future CPA needs.
Angel at Stephen R. Miller CPA, PC is fantastic with Quick Books! Carl
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
