Customer Reviews

I appreciate working with Wilmar Suan to prepare my taxes. After an initial in person consultation with Wilmar I felt that he understood my needs and the nuances involved with my tax situation. They have a user friendly portal that expedites communication and allowed me to securely upload my documents. The turnaround time is reasonable as well. I have used him for the past two years and will continue to do so.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, they are not taking new clients. They have been ignoring me and dragging me along. Suan said I didnt want to come in, I live in Grand Blanc...why wouldn't I want to make the drive down the street? Sad reality is he was too busy to even respond to me and get going after he set me up in client portal. What happens next is UNBELIEVABLE! Because I reported my bad experience on google, I noticed today Suan went on Amazon and rated multiple products of mine as 1 star with comment "don't was

Extremely, frustrated and disappointed in this firm. I used Suan suan since 2021 for my business and personal taxes which was fine. Until I had a problem I needed help with and they abandoned me. I have sent numerous emails and phone calls without response. Since July, I have been asking for help. Honestly, I would highly recommend you reaching out to someone other than this group. I never expected this out of Wilmer Suan or his assistant Kinda.

Great people to work with, they had our return done in less than 2 weeks after we first met them and provided paperwork. The online portal was convenient to use and easy to navigate. Very communicative, polite, and helpful tax team to hire! Reasonable price in my opinion, charges less than my previous CPA and we get quicker responses and have had a great experience with Susan and Co. Would highly recommend!

Filing taxes is probably the least favorite thing anyone ever has to do. That being said, when you and trust your tax preparation to Suan, It will soon become your most favorite thing to do. They make the entire process simple, efficient, and seemingly effortless. Their follow up is stellar

Had a great experience with Suan and Company P.C CPA. I worked with Wilmar and he was great. Wilmar and all of his associates were very friendly and professional. They made the whole experience very easy and stress free. We also received our refund very quickly. I recommend them for anyone who needs help with their taxes.

Wilmar is such a kind professional smart man. He knows what he's doing when it comes to taxes. He saved me money, and I am even getting a great return. Everyone at this office is friendly. I highly recommend Suan and Company!

It's an amazing service from Wilmar Suan who helped me to file the returns. I would highly recommend his firm to my friends and colleagues to have a hassle-free experience and that too for a reasonable cost!!

Wilmar Suan handled our taxes for us this year and was such a pleasure! He answered all of our questions and did our taxes efficiently and professionally. We will come back every year!!

This tax team is by far the best service that I have had in 30 years. They are professional, prompt, friendly, and very detail focused. Their website is user-friendly; I used it from the Middle East with no issues.

I would not recommend this company to anyone!! I paid them to do my payroll and they never filed the reports on time, therefore causing penalties to my account and they REFUSE to make it right. I have been trying to get this fixed since last year and Wilmar never returns my calls and is VERY unprofessional! I definitely will never trust them again with my taxes or anything to do with finances! I've never experienced a company that has no concern for their clients the way this man does. Stay away from this p

Wilmar, and Kendra have completed my taxes for the last ten years. They are understanding, competent and expedient. I have always been pleased with their results.

They do wonderful work. She took the time to answer all my questions about my tax returns. They're a great company and I'm happy I found them.

They charged us around $300 to do our taxes told us that we were getting around $3,000 back we budgeted the remodeling of our kitchen with that in mind after waiting 5 months to get it that part was not their fault we finally got back a little over a third of that amount because the federal government had to correct a mistake that they made doing our taxes. We got what we should have gotten but they had us believing for 5 months that we were getting quite a bit more it was quite a let down now our plans hav

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
