Customer Reviews

Best CPA in WA. Been a client for over 30 years. Honest, knowledgeable and perfect integrity.

I have never met someone more unprofessional in my life. This woman took 4 months to do our taxes (literally barely made the deadline and i had to call her daily for weeks). Sue would actually hang up on us LOL. I would never in my life recommend this business and would give 0 stars if I could. I should honestly report her business but instead I will advise you find absolutely anyone else to do your taxes. Good luck out there!

Love Sue! I have been going to her for 20 + years! Many of my clients drive a far distance also for her services. She?s very knowledgeable and fast! If you need help with your taxes, this is THE place to go.

I?ve been getting my taxes done by Sue since I got my first job when I was 16. I wouldn?t go to anyone else to do them. I highly recommend her. She is very knowledgeable and will help you revive the largest return and help you with your deductions.

Best Tax Place. I wouldn't go anywhere else, but, to her to get my taxes done. I won't even do them myself because she makes it worth it. Time is money and her business is by far the best around.

Sue is the best. Spanning decades of 5 star service. All you Karen's (male & female) complaining about how bad she is need to zip it. She gives great tax advise & knowledge, but for some people the truth hurts & it hurts their little feelings. Stop blaming other people for your faults. Perhaps you shouldn't be in business at all. If a professional like her tells you something you should probably listen. I will continue to do business with her as long as l can.

I have been going to Sue Katsel now for about 15 years she?s always fast, knowledgeable, and understanding! She gets you in and out! And doesn?t over charge thank you Sue for all these wonderful years of customer service!

I think I'm going on year 6 using Sue. I'm always able to get right in and out, ask questions and get them answered on the spot. She does a great job. Would recommend her to anyone.

Amazing lady. No more h&r block. We started coming here 2 years ago based on a Facebook suggestion. The first year she was actually concerned about charging us too much because we weren't getting a lot back. She cares about her clients.

Fast, friendly, easy. Forget the expensive chains, Sue does them better and faster. She is amazing, I have used her services many years.

Sue Katsel CPA totally takes the stress out of filing taxes. They ask questions to make sure you are getting the highest refund you are entitled to. They have saved me so much money. They are fast and efficient. I will always use them and I highly recommend

I have called many times to receive some type of information as far as the quarterly report for my business is going and each time they have said they would call me back. Never have I received a call back and here it is down to the last day for them to start and I still haven't received any information. I even told her if they can't do it they need to let me know so I can find someone who can and she still makes excuses such as I'm busy each time. If your so busy you can't answer phone calls from your custo

A rating of ZERO stars is my true choice but site will not let me leave a warning for other people if I do not mark at least one star! Sue Katsel has always been a resource above all others to get your taxes done, with accuracy and better than reasonable prices, but I cannot say that anymore! I have not only been there many times myself but also referred others there. Recently, this year, I referred a friend there and he came to find out afterword?s that he was charged "DOUBLE" the price he would have paid

Awesome tax professional!! She was recommended by a fellow employee. Now I'm recommending her to you. Go see Sue!!!

Sue was efficiently professional: knowledgeable and quick. She was also warm, friendly, and open. Great doing business with her.

Incredible Experience with CPA Extraordinaire! I drove to Auburn to drop off my tax documents - Instead I was greeted by her exceptionally friendly office manager and with an even greater surprise she completed both my 2016 and 2017 taxes WHILE I WAITED - all in less than an hour and a half!!!

She is great! Absolutely stress-free experience. I trust nobody else to do my taxes.

Sue is a wonderful woman and cpa I have been using her service for 24 years. Very professional and capable

Sue is amazing! I will never let anyone else do my taxes! Highly recommended!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
