Customer Reviews

I had them do reconciliation for me during the 2023 tax year. The reconciliation was good, but felt like it was over charged. I asked for the previous reconciliation from previous years in the form of a spreadsheet, but they have ghosted me for a week now. Incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. Would stay away from them, unfortunately there are many scammers in crypto, even in adjacent industries.

Completely unresponsive and fraudulent. Promised services to be completed by the 31st of Dec and failed to deliver, and now won't respond to my messages. Avoid unless you want to lose your money.

Absolutely excellent, professional service. They take the headache of assembling defi/trading/NFT transactions away and make it easy. There is a full team of accountants so everything gets done quickly and efficiently, the secretary is great she responds very quickly. Jordan is super friendly and knowledgeable and takes the time to review everything with you so you feel comfortable. He saved me so much money via tax loss harvesting that I was in shock at the final number I owed. He even gave me a minor disc

I can say, Jordan and his firm has made something I was dreading since I?m still fairly new and learning about crypto taxes and how to navigation every crypto exchange site, which each can have various differences to gather and tally the correct data needed. It may seem pricey at first glance, but Jordan walked me through each process needed and was very patience to answer all my questions, which in turned educated me on how I can be confident in his assessment. Definitely recommend to anyone his firm and

I heard Jordan on a podcast and gave Taxing Cryptocurrency a call to see if they could help me reconcile my trades for the year. Not only did the Taxing Cryptocurrency team respond immediately to my inquiry, they completed my reconciliation within days and had it formatted in an easy to read template that I can use for my taxes! Such an impressive service and they treated me so well! These guys are the real deal expert crypto CPAs!

Jordan Bass and his team were amazing in fixing my tax mess. Not only are they highly skilled but also honest, compassionate, and speedy. Would highly recommend them to anyone.

You can?t beat the crypto tax services provided by Taxing Cryptocurrency for the price! Incredible value and an incredible learning experience. Jordan took the time to really explain everything in great detail and was so reliable along the way!

What a knowledgeable company, they helped me more than I could?ve imagined. You know what they say: you don?t know what you don?t know? well these guys know! I can?t say that I?ve met a group/someone more informed than this team regarding cryptos. The crypto industry is so new to the taxing world so it seems scary to trust anyone with this stuff but I can tell you first hand, I am beyond ecstatic to have found them. They have a forever client in me.

First appointment was rescheduled day of. Second appointment call arrived late. I then sent a follow-up email to an automated email stating my interest to move forward, to which I received no response. These 5 star reviews seem scripted with half of them mentioning team or experience.

Taxing Cryptocurrency reconciled all of my cryptocurrency activity for the year AND issued me reports at the end of each quarter for 2018 detailing where I stood from a tax perspective. I could not be happier with my experience and can?t wait to get going on my 2019 quarterly reports!

Having a CPA who REALLY understands crypto tax is so rare. After searching and dealing with multiple tax professinals, I'm so happy I found Jordan and Taxing Cryptocurrency. Quick, simple and reliable.

Taxing Cryptocurrency is an excellent company. Dealing with crypto taxes was extremely difficult and Jordan fixed all of my problems. I highly recommend Taxing Cryptocurrency!

Very experienced, thorough and Jordan is an intelligent guy. Definitely reaching back out for tax help next year!

I was worried about the complexity of my crypto tax situation. The Taxing Crypto team made it so easy and really explained everything along the way. I will definitely be coming back next year!

These guys are awful. Very unresponsive and would not recommend to anyone. After 3 months of following up and almost no response, decided to go with someone else.

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
