I was also affected by their data breach and the terrible communication that followed. I stuck with them despite the considerable hassle that ensued as I was left to deal with the IRS. Last year, on more than one occasion Tom did not respond to my emails, leaving the responses to his assistant (which did not fully address my concerns). He then did not warn me about the implications of filing an extension and left me to figure that out and ask about it myself. I expressed my concerns, and he finally respo
I received amazing service using Thomas Bowen CPA and highly recommend them. In a very short period of time they helped me get my information together and get my taxes completed for a much lower rate and with less hassle than prior CPAs I have used. As a small business owner completing the process of tax preparation is always a nightmare each year. I'm not trying to say they made it fun - but they sure made it easy and were able to explain things in a quick and easy manner. Deborah and Tom were both extrem
I used Thomas Bowen?s accounting firm for both my personal and business taxes, and have had the worst experience imaginable! The firm suffered a huge security breach due to their own negligence in 2020, and all of my information was stolen in addition to fraudelent tax returns filed on my behalf. There was absolutely no prior communication with me in regards to my identity being comprised, until fraudulent tax refunds starting showing up at my house. Due to my identity being stolen, I even had bank accounts
Used Thomas Bowen back in 2019 after moving to Roswell and will never use again and would not recommend. First, they filed our return with the wrong address and incorrect SSN even after I pointed the errors out. Then their client data was compromised and all of our personal information was stolen! Fraudulent returns were filed under our SSNs. The firm did absolutely nothing to assist us in this matter or rectify the situation. They also gave the IRS our wrong address so we never received a case number. IRS
It?s almost August 2021 and I am still waiting on my 2019 tax refund that was filed last March? How is this possible? Due to the firm?s security breach, I too like the other reviewers mentioned below am suffering from both fraudulent tax returns filed on my behalf + identity theft. I have had to follow up with the IRS dozens of times to verify my identity, confirm tax return amounts, personal info, work, etc. just to be told they?re still waiting on additional documents from my tax accountant. Why was there
I have used Thomas Bowen CPA firm for several years now and have found the firm to be both professional, and responsive. The staff is friendly and detailed oriented. I will continue to utilize their services in the future. I highly recommended this firm.
We have loved the ease of working with Tom and Deborah. They turn our filings around quickly and are highly responsive when questions arise. Very happy that we were referred to them!
Knowledgeable service and great attention to detail. My finances are private and I do not share details with my family let alone my friends. With Thomas Bowen CPA, I am open and honest and they treat me with confidence and respect.
Excellent timely, professional and money saving services done here! Bowen CPA Firm has been doing my taxes for years. I have referred my family to them as well.
I?m very appreciative of Mr. Bowen and his firm. I had another CPA prior that was inattentive and really needed a team to put the pieces back together. I couldn?t be more pleased. Deborah and Linda are both wonderful and couldn?t be more helpful when I need them!
Been with the Firm 10 plus years and going- great team, super friendly and helpful 7 days a week. I've been very happy with this Firm, and have recommended other business owners to them
Great service and very professional staff! Will definitely use them again and again! I had an awesome experience A+!
They have multiple ways of running financial statements for any business. Punctual, reliable, always following through.
Great staff and great service! I recommend Thomas Bowen CPA to everyone...
Great communications..fast and efficient service every year
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
