Valerie has handled my taxes for years! Her office has always been super helpful and knowledgeable anytime I have needed it. I recommend Valerie and her office to many people and businesses that need a great CPA.
Valerie has prepared our taxes for many years for our personal and business accounts. She is a delightful person and her work has been on target. We appreciate her and her staff.
Valerie and her staff are the best of the best! We have used her for years for not only our personal taxes but my small business as well. Never a time during the year that she's not willing to answer a question. Would not trust anyone else.
Valerie is the best CPA around and that?s for sure. The love she has for people is second to none! If you?re needing a CPA, give her a call!
She?s as done wonders for our 501C3. Her hard work and dedication to her clients is outstanding and inspiring.
Valerie was very busy when I spoke to her about a couple weeks before the April deadline for taxes. I explained to her that I was new to Tennessee and the pleasant view area and that I was referred to her from a neighbor. She said she was not taking any new clients but made an exception. She called me to ask a few questions and got me taken care of. I was very pleased with her work and she sent my paperwork to my home since I was working out of town. When I got home I drove to her business and paid her. She
We have been clients of Valerie's for almost five years. In person she is very professional and helpful. But communication from her office, even when it is costly and time-sensitive, just doesn't happen. She has made multiple errors on our taxes over the years, which we were willing to overlook because she eventually made them right. Recently though, it's literally impossible to get a call or email back. We had an issue with a mistake that was made on our taxes. We notified her in November and asked for her
Great place and always ready to help. Valerie is a wonderful person.
Valerie and her team are Fantastic! She knows her stuff and most importantly she is dedicated to helping clients with their tax planning / tax strategy. If you own a business or are in need of tax planning or filing then call Valerie!
I had my taxes done here last year and for 2020 and the service I received from start to finish was perfect! Taxes stress me out as I am self employed, but the two girls up front and Valerie made it a stress free appt. They were all so helpful and even got me stimulus money!
Extremely friendly, helpful, affordable and accurate services. Highly recommend ??
Wow! What a disappointment. My family and friends have done business with Valerie for years. I saw her listing as a Notary Public and of course I chose her first. I called her office to make sure I had enough cash. She quoted me $50 because I'm not a client of hers. $50 for each notarized form. That is completely unreasonable! You should be ashamed of yourself Valerie Kemp!
Our favorite CPA! Her staff helps with my payroll and bookkeeping needs and Valerie helps with our taxes and business decisions. Christi is always so cheeful and ready to help us with anything we need!
Best CPA in TN... she has done my taxes for years and this year was a doozie! Her staff helped with my Stimulus, unemployment, PPP loan and got my taxes filed for me! Wonderful group of women that are always willing to help!
Excellent CPA and phenomenal customer service. Every single person in the office is beyond helpful. I couldn?t recommend more
Valerie and her team always do a fantastic job! Very knowledgeable and always easy to work with!
Professional, fast, confident....the best! Thank you!!
The staff at VKCP does an excellent job.
Left a voicemail and never received a call back
Valerie and her amazing team are outstanding! Whether it's handling our personal taxes, managing our investments, or guiding us through our business income, they always know exactly what to do. With Valerie, we always feel confident and secure?we know we're in good hands. Highly recommend!
Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
