I've been using Williams Tax & Accounting since 2019 and Shawn has been so helpful with my taxes over the years. I've gone from a single-mom with multiple incomes to being married, kids, and military. Definitely a huge help with my husband and I! We highly recommend the service they provide!
Williams Tax Service provides prompt and personable service. He has prepared our taxes for the past 2 years, including some circumstances that were out of the ordinary. Shawn is always helpful with the many questions we have going through the tax preparation process, and he works hard to find the most beneficial filing situation. He is also very affordable compared with H&R Block who we used for many years before we found Shawn.
The tax accountant I had used for many years retired. It was like losing a friend that knew me so well. In my search for a new accounting firm, I found Shawn Williams information. From the first contact, I knew Shawn would provide the personalized guidance I needed to get everything organized. His price was fair and his service was great. I'd recommend him if you are looking for someone to do your taxes.
I've worked with Shawn Williams for years. He's the CPA you want to prepare and file your tax returns in Kansas City. Before Shawn I was with a very expensive firm called C.H.&V, where they constantly over-promised and under-delivered and charged me an arm and a leg. When you work with Shawn, you're getting personalized service and you're important, not just another stack of papers. He will answer your questions and explain how the tax code works and how you could use it in your favor. I run multiple b
Shawn has been absolutely incredible. He is knowledgeable, quick to respond to any issue big or small, and invests in his clients success. I will continue to trust him with my own small business, and am thrilled he is now helping my friends and family with their tax needs.
My husband and I went to Shawn to file our taxes last year after moving to Missouri. We decided to work with Shawn based on the high reviews and we are not sorry. We will definitely be using his services again this year. He is highly recommended!
I had recently moved to Platte City from New York and had retired from a military career. I was looking for an accountent and I stumbled upon Shawn. He was young and energetic and well spoken. He answered a bunch of questions and helped me feel comfortable utilizing his services. He was up on the tax changes and at the end of the day, this was the best $360 I have spent in a long time. Thanks Shawn, I will be back next year and will utilize your knowledge of tax law in the future.
My wife and I started using Williams Tax & Accounting last year after reading so many great reviews. Shawn is extremely professional, knowledgeable and thorough. He definitely lives up to his 5 star reviews.
Shawn is a fantastic CPA. He is very knowledgeable about tax law and takes customer service seriously. He helped me through the tax ramifications of selling my rental property and promptly answered all related questions with accuracy. It's great having someone like Shawn in my corner.
Williams Tax & Accounting handles both my personal and business returns. I've been very happy! Shawn is not only a qualified CPA, he is very responsive to questions. I appreciate that he is willing to take the time to explain things I may not have a grasp on.
I used Williams Tax & Accounting for the first time last year. I was very pleased with the professional advice I received from Shawn and the timeliness of my tax preparation. My finished documents were thoroughly explained to me and were extremely organized. I will definitely be using Shawn again this year.
We were looking to make a change in our CPA for business and personal. Shawn was exactly what we were looking for. He has done a very good job for us. He is very prompt at returning calls or emails and answering any questions that we have. We feel that he has saved us money on our taxes, as well as helped us with everyday accounting for our business.
I used William's Tax & Accounting last season and was very pleased. Since then, I have had to email Shawn periodically with financial questions relating to taxes. He is always very timely and informative with his response. I will be using him again this season.
I met with Shawn Williams to help resolve a very odd tax problem that dated back to 2001, that after 2 meetings it appears was a mistake made by the IRS. He is very thorough, patient and willing to help - and he helped me without charging even though I offered to pay for his services. His company offers a one hour consultation for free - I got two consultations for free. I think anyone who has a tax issue would find him to be a great help!
I?ve known Shawn for many years. Very trustworthy, down to earth and extremely responsive. If you are looking for a tax professional give Williams Tax & Accounting a shot. You?ll be happy you did!
We have used Shawn Williams for 2 years now for our 2 small businesses and personal taxes and have been very happy with him. I recommend his services to my friends frequently.
Shawn saved me a lot of money on my 2016 tax return. Originally, I was told that I would owe a large amount of money for 2016 but I got a second opinion from Shawn and he not only did my accounting correctly, he saved me money on my 2016 taxes! Now he is the only one that does my company's accounting and my personal and company taxes at the end of the year. THANK YOU, SHAWN!!!
My husband and I have used Williams Tax & Accounting, CPA Firm for many years. We have always been very happy with Shawn and plan on staying with him for many years.
Williams Tax & Accounting was very helpful in assisting me in navigating the tax laws when it comes to working in one state and living in another state. This saved me a lot of time. They also ensured that my returned was processed expediently as possible so that I could get a return in approx. two weeks when doing an online return. Thanks a bunch! I will be using them this year also.
Shawn is quick to respond to messages, professional, and knowledgeable in all aspects. I would recommend him to anyone looking to get their taxes filed or looking for accounting services.
I just used Shawn for my 2017 taxes, and it was a great experience. He is professional and timely. I'll be using Shawn again.
Saw the good Google reviews gave them a call waited a week to have a appointment. Had phone consultation was told a quote and breakdown of services would be emailed to me next day. A week later still no response. I?ve called and emailed with no response. I?ve now wasted 3 weeks of time waiting when I could of been looking for an accountant that actually wanted my business instead of being blown off.
Shawn did a great job, asked all the right questions and had it ready to go when he said it would be ready. I would definitely recommend him.
We have been working with Shawn for years, and we trust him 100%! Great guy, great service. Highly recommend!
We used Shawn for our 2018 tax preparation and the firm was very accommodating and very helpful. We didn't have an easy return!
i called this company in the AM. They then call me in the PM only to tell me that I would need to delay filing my Taxes and file an extension up to May. 2022. If I owe taxes they want me estimate and send IRS a guessed amount of taxes owed. Really disappointed with this company. The site should say they can't help anyone right now. March 24, 2022
Was thinking about talking with a tax professional for some advice, but at $180 an hour for a phone consultation, I'll figure it out myself and then be able to do it every year thereafter, I'll pay myself.
Shawn is a professional in every sense of the word, both knowledgeable and diligent. If it's important to you, it's important to him.
Shawn Williams, CPA is extremely knowledgably and professional. I would highly recommend his firm to anyone needing tax and accounting services.
Shawn is awesome. Very responsive, helpful, and professional. I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.
Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.
A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.
Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.
Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.
Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.
Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.
Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.
Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.
During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.
Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.
Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.
For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.
Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.
Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
