Customer Reviews

Very glad I chose Wood's Tax Service. Trisha is very knowledgeable and provides great communication, prompt, responsive service at a very fair price. Absolutely the most stress-free tax prep experience I've ever had. I wish I had made the switch years ago.

I've come here for 3 years now. 1 year I went to Trisha and the other 2 I went to Ashley. They both are great at what they do. Super efficient and fast. They are both kind and great at their job. They make the process so simple and I get back the right amount everytime I go especially compared to when I'm trying to do my taxes by myself. I'll continue using them every year.

Woods Tax Service has done our taxes the past two years. Trisha Terrell is very efficient and gets the job done thoroughly and reliably. Their web portal on Tax Dome is very good and a nice way to communicate with her, upload your tax info/documents and even pay for their services. I would highly recommend them for all your tax preparation needs.

We will never go anywhere else after the wonderful, expedited, professional and kind service we received at Wood's Tax! Time was even taken to explain each section to us, and with brief preciseness. Ashley did a fantastic job! Thank you! See you next year!

Thorough and fast! Can't say enough about them. Been dealing with some serious amateur tax prep people over the years and was so glad to find someone who seriously knows what they're doing. Their online portal for doc sharing alone should award them an extra 6th Star...so easy and convenient to use! Thanks Trisha and company!

Been doing my taxes with them since I started working. They are awesome, very helpful. Marcia and trish.Great family ????

Hands down, the best tax preparers in Riverside! My wife and I have used Wood's Tax Service for 14 years, after receiving their advertising card in the mail in 2010. They're a small, family-owned business--professional, efficient and competent--well established in the community; they've received "best service" awards in each of the last several years. Tax preparation is something we look forward to every year as the atmosphere created in their office is warm and friendly. Trisha genuinely cares about her cl

I've worked with Financial Planners, Tax and Financial Professionals for 40+ years in my profession. I wish I had found Woods Tax Service 30 years ago. The speed, professionalism, quality, fairness and caring my wife and I received is literally the best service we have ever experienced. We will never go elsewhere for our future business.

I've been very pleased with my appointments I work with a lady named Trisha she seems very professional. A professional. I've been doing business there only 2 years. It's very close to my home which is convenient. They know me as Fruit and vegetable man. I always bring in some extra goodies from my garden garden during the summer.

Well let me say first and foremost I would of given them Unlimited Stars if I could. This was my first time at Wood's Tax Service and let me tell you how much I regret not finding about this fantastic and beautiful people in the first place. This is by far the best place I have ever done my taxes at!! You know they say First Impressions are the Last Impressions and that could not be more true then ever! I had called and enquired the day before my appointment how much it would cost me to do my taxes. Forgive

Love Tax Woods service. They are not only quick but thorough. They honor appointments times. My son is now 7 years old, I have been going to them since he was 2 years old and I appreciated the urgency in making sure I was seen at my scheduled time. And not to mention I always usually scheduled the day of... so it's not like there was a long wait.

Absolutely the worst experience trying to get professional help on our taxes, I was treated so disgusting by a Marsha or mersha and Trisha the manager it?s unbelievable. Degraded and laughed at and then tried not to reimburse us after not finishing. I have a neurological condition which when overwhelmed It affects me physically and I still have not been ok. After making a complaint a very detailed complaint Trisha called me back being so unprofessional and rude offering no apology nothing about my complaint

This is the best place to go. I?ve been with Woods for 20 years and I even tell anyone that?s asks me where I do my taxes, I say go to Woods tax service. I?m even out of state. Thank you so much Trisha!

I have been their customer for about 5 years. Their customer service is the best! They are professional and offer many services. For my tax needs they are fast, organized, and very thorough so I am in and out.

Very professional. My taxes were done in 20 minutes and I received my returns in less than a week. I would recommend Wood's Tax Service.

Always a pleasure! This is the 3rd year coming here and always the best service. Very clean, following all the covid rules. Fast, professional, straight to the point and friendly. See you next year! Thank you Trisha! - Arnela San Diego

I had a good experience at this tax preparer. It was my first time and I needed to file right away for federal aid regarding college. The staff here are polite and friendly. Marcia explained all the details of my return well. I would come back to this business because they are effecient, fast and knowledge!

So glad we went on a referral from a long time client. She made what we thought complicated very straightforward and easy. Taxes were filed in office and refunds on the way. Very happy with them. No stress.

Once again we can count on Woods Tax Service for their efficiency and great customer service. It is comforting to know are tax needs are in competent hands. Thank you

She taxed me on my capital gain , when she wasn?t supposed too. I?m paying someone else to amend what she did. There were deductions she could have added but didn?t ask me about. Since I?m not a tax expert , I didn?t know to mention them . Her personality was cold. And I paid $400 plus for her fee. I would never go there again. I had to pay thousands and thousands to the IRS. I just hope it?s not to late and can get some of that money back .

I really like Marcia she has her stuff together very helpful and professional. I have used this tax service 2 years now. Very happy to have found this business.

I love the small business, very frienly office. Marcia has done my taxes over 10 years. Professional to the max, knowledgeable and good adviser.

Great service!! Very knowledgeable; always patient and cheerful! I have been using their services for many years and have never been disappointed. Also, they have answered my financial questions at non-tax times!!! I always recommend them!!

Just had my taxes done! Trisha was fast and efficient and a very sweet person! Definitely returning next year!

Frequently Asked Questions

What qualifications should I look for in a CPA?

Look for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, which ensures they’ve passed rigorous exams and meet state requirements. Check for relevant experience in your industry, additional certifications like CFA or CMA, and membership in professional organizations like the AICPA. Verify their credentials through state licensing boards.

How do I find a CPA in my area?

Use online directories like the AICPA, CPAverify, or state CPA societies. Search platforms like Yelp or Google for local CPAs with reviews. Ask for referrals from business associates, friends, or financial advisors. Local chambers of commerce can also provide recommendations.

What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

A CPA is a licensed professional who has passed the CPA exam and met state requirements for education and experience. An accountant may lack this certification and could have varying levels of expertise. For complex tasks like tax audits or financial reporting, a CPA is typically more qualified.

How do I know if a CPA specializes in my needs?

Ask about their experience with your specific financial needs, such as tax preparation, small business accounting, or estate planning. Review their website or LinkedIn for case studies or client testimonials. Inquire about their client base to ensure they handle similar financial situations.

Should I check a CPA’s reviews before hiring?

Yes, reviews provide insight into a CPA’s reliability, communication, and performance. Check platforms like Google, Yelp, or the Better Business Bureau for client feedback. Look for patterns in reviews, but verify their authenticity, as some may be biased or outdated.

How can I verify a CPA’s license?

Visit your state’s Board of Accountancy website or use CPAverify.org to check a CPA’s license status. Confirm their license is active and check for any disciplinary actions or complaints. This ensures they’re in good standing and meet professional standards.

What questions should I ask during a CPA consultation?

Ask about their experience with your financial needs, fee structure, availability, and communication style. Inquire how they handle tax filings, audits, or financial planning. Ask for references or examples of similar work to assess their expertise and fit.

How much should I expect to pay for a CPA’s services?

Fees vary based on location, services, and complexity. Basic tax preparation may cost $150-$500, while business accounting or audits can range from $1,000 to $10,000+. Request a detailed fee structure upfront and compare quotes from multiple CPAs.

Can I work with a CPA remotely?

Yes, many CPAs offer remote services through secure online platforms for document sharing and virtual consultations. Ensure they use encrypted tools for data security. Remote CPAs can be effective if they understand your local tax laws or business regulations.

How do I assess a CPA’s communication skills?

During consultations, evaluate their ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly. Ask sample questions about taxes or financial strategies and note their responsiveness and clarity. Good communication ensures you understand their advice and fosters a productive relationship.

What red flags should I watch for when screening a CPA?

Beware of CPAs who guarantee specific tax refunds, lack a valid license, or have disciplinary actions on record. Avoid those with poor communication, vague fee structures, or negative reviews highlighting unethical behavior. Always verify their credentials independently.

Should I choose a CPA from a large firm or a solo practitioner?

Large firms offer more resources and specialized teams but may charge higher fees. Solo practitioners often provide personalized service and lower costs but may have limited availability. Choose based on your needs, budget, and preference for personalized attention.

How often should I meet with my CPA?

For individuals, annual meetings for tax preparation may suffice. Businesses may need quarterly or monthly check-ins for bookkeeping, tax planning, or financial reporting. Discuss your needs upfront to establish a meeting schedule that aligns with your financial goals.

Can a CPA help with both personal and business finances?

Yes, many CPAs handle both, but confirm their expertise in both areas. Ask about their experience managing personal taxes and business accounting simultaneously. Ensure they can balance both without compromising attention to your specific financial needs.

What should I do if I’m not satisfied with my CPA?

Discuss concerns directly with your CPA to resolve issues. If unresolved, check your contract for termination terms. Seek a new CPA by researching reviews, credentials, and referrals. Request your financial records to ensure a smooth transition to a new professional.
